A new Phone with Just the Basic Features: LG KG290

And yes, LG technology had reached Japan stores with a new phone model, the KG290.

It is a slider of course, because as you’ve probably realized this is the designed preferred these days due to the fact that it’s easy to handle.
The stylish lightweight black or grey model fits very well masculine and feminine styles, measuring 92 x 46 x 17.7 mm and having a weight of just 90g.
Its TFT screen is of just 1.77 inches short, but displays 256K colors and I say it is enough for using the base functions of a standard phone, like watching pictures taken with its 1.3 MP camera of 1280x960 pixels, or videos recorded, or photos of your friends when they are calling you.
I regret that I can't continue with “watching your friends live while you talk to them”, but that’s it, this model doesn’t have 3G.

And it doesn’t have HSCSD, EDGE or WLAN, but it does come with Bluetooth at least.
There is no infrared either but it has USB, and that’s better.
The phone works on GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900 bands and supports GPRS Class 10.
For me would be enough to use this phone with basic functions like MP3 player, SMS, MMS, the xHTML browser, play some cute games while in a waiting room, listen to the FM radio and read RSS feeds.
Unfortunately it doesn’t have the latter one.

While reading through the comments about this model on the Internet I’ve found some complaints about the lack of the USB cable in box.
It seems that you have to get a cable from somewhere else.

Other good parts are the possibility to attach a microSD card of 5MB to the phone, Java MIDP 2.0 support, calculator, world time, voice memo and the built-in handsfree.
The battery is a Li-Ion of 820mAh.
Its price expressed in dollars is approximately of $250.
