Acer Smartphone
Posted by: CameraPhonesPlaza in Acer
Acer released its smartphone line in February this year, and I would like to see how competitive are this products with the incumbent giants on this market: iPhone, BlackBerry, Palm and HTC. Acer products are belonging to the Tempo line, and these are the models: X960, F900, M900, and DX90. They all have installed on them Windows Mobile 6.1, even though the wraps were pulled off WinMo 6.5 by Stevey Ballms.
Let's see the specifications of each model and what features offers each model, and how competitive are they on the market.
Acer Tempo X960 has a Samsung S3C 6400 mobile processor with 533 MHz speed, and has Windows Mobile 6.1 as OS. The screen is a 2.8 inch VGA TFT LCD and the camera offers 3.2 megapixels and fixed focus. This smartphone supports SiRFstar III GPS and it has also Bluetooth 2.0. It belongs to Category 8 HSDPA and to the 5 Category on HSUPA, and is supports also EDGE/GPRS/EGPRS.
Acer Tempo F900 has a 3.8 inch WVGA TFT LCD touch screen and a microSD slot, a 3 Mp camera with auto focus, and it supports GPS, EDGE GPRS and EGPRS connections. Bluetooth is also available and it has the same OS, Windows Mobile 6.1. The processor is Samsung S3C 6410 with a 533 MHz speed.
Acer Tempo DX900 has the same OS and processor as X960, and the screen is also a 2.8 inch VGA TFT LCD, the camera offers 3 Mp, but it has auto focus and this smartphone also has a microSD card slot. The connectivity is ensured by WLAN 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.0. next to the EDGE and GPRS connections. It is a dual SIM smartphone and on the second SIM it supports GSM Tri-band. This smartphone has also a 2.5 mm stereo jack, something special, which cannot be found at the two previous mentioned models.

Acer Tempo M900 has a special slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard and the same processor as the F900 model. The screen is a little bigger than the other models in the line, and the camera offers a stunning performance with its 5 megapixels, auto focus option and the flashlight. This smartphone has a microSD card slot too, and a 2.5 mm stereo jack. Bluetooth 2.0, WLAN, EDGE, GPRS and EGPRS are also available in this model too.
I can see some sort of evolution in this smartphone line, and I would say that the latest two models have a higher performance than the first two mentioned, but I think that they were designed like this, in various places on a complexity scale, for various customers' needs and for different usage purposes.
