And the most popular cell phones are…
Posted by: Maria Mihale in Nokia
It seems that it’s the day of the most popular cell phones that are being sold worldwide these days. After telling you about the LG Arena and the impressive amount of devices pre-ordered before the phone being actually released, which doubled after the proper introduction into the market, it’s time for a Nokia-branded handset to join the party.
And it will be no wonder for anyone the fact that Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is the ONE, because the Finnish company managed to turn the phone into a very successful one in the specific countries where it was already launched. And it seems that the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic story won’t come to an end very soon.

All Nokia needed was some time to prove everyone what it is able to do with a phone. And “some time†finds expression in no more than two months. During only two months, Nokia sold approximately 1 million units of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, which is so very much. This means that each month 500,000 phones were sold. An earnings release says that the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic volumes were in the first quarter of 2009 (from January to March) of 2.6 million units, while the cumulative shipments raised at approximately 3 million units since the phone was launched at the end of November 2008.
“In what has been an exceptionally tough environment, we continue to invest in a focused manner in consumer Internet services delivered across our broad portofolio of mobile devices. Combined, these solutions will drive our future growthâ€, said Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, Nokia CEO. Kallasvuo further said that: “As an example in Q1, I am especially pleased with the performance of our first mass market touch product, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Together with Comes With Music, it is a great example of Nokia providing solutions that consumers valueâ€.
Taking a short look on their report, we can easily see that Nokia registered drops in other segments, but it seems that Nokia 5800 XpressMusic not only is doing very well, but it is eager to become one of the most popular cell phones in the market.
