Barack Obama phone for the Africans

As any other non-American human being, I’ve closely kept my eyes on the presidential election that took place at the end of last year in the United State. To my surprise, the event ended with an unexpected victory, but not because people didn’t want for such a thing to happen, but because it seemed impossible. A compulsory demand was for Americans to be open-minded and more courageous than ever. And they’ve proven themselves to be prepared for the change and enthusiastic about it. And Barack Obama at the White House is a picture that crowns it all, to the worldwide satisfaction.

And if you’re one of the millions of people that still celebrate the stunning victory of Barack Obama, then I’m sure you’d love to have an Obama-branded cell phone of your own. The only problem with such a desire is the fact that the phone I’m talking about was recently launched in the African continent, more precisely in Kenya. If you’re wondering about the reason why Kenya and not the United States, you should know that this is the country where the father of Obama was born. So it’s a reason good enough, right?

The Barack Obama phone was released under the name of Mi-Obama, being produced and commercialized by Mi-Fone, a company that most of you aren’t familiar with, unless you’re a person who had the chance to get in touch with the Asian and African markets.

As you can see in the picture, the back of the case has name of the president written on it and the words he used to repeat all over the campaign: “Yes we can”. The candybar is a basic phone, so don’t put your hopes too up, because you might be disappointed. The features include a display with a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels, FM radio and a LED torchlight.

It seems that another reason for the launch of the Barack Obama phone is the fact that the American President is expected to pay a visit in Kenya. “The coming of the new President of the USA is an auspicious moment for all Kenyans and the people of Africa. It is our pleasure to be able to launch the Mi-Obama phone as a memento that will always stay within the user’s hearts and minds”, said Alpesh Patel, Director of Mi-Fone. He further added that “the opportunity was just too good to miss”.

But the worst is the data usage. Why don’t Orange realise that the iPhone is a fricking Internet device!?!?! It has the best web browser anywhere, it has Google Maps, Twitter, IM & much more. Almost everything on the iPhone is centred around it having unlimited Internet connectivity.
