The long awaited BlackBerry 9630 Verizon is finally available on the market. Being a combination between BlackBerry Curve 8900 and BlackBerry Bold, it looks similar to these 2 but it also has many other improvements in all the possible areas (design, performance and features).
The BlackBerry 9630 Verizon has a resistant plastic case with a nice combination between the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and the BlackBerry Bold design. The case is available only in glossy black, color which gives a beautiful business aspect. With 112 x 62 x 14.2 mm in dimensions and 130 grams in weight, the BlackBerry 9630 Verizon feels great in your hands or pocket. On the front side, it has a 2.4 inch display. Below it, there are the Call and End keys, a back button, a menu shortcut and a trackball navigator. For text entry, it has a 35-key QWERY keyboard. With good-size keys (which have a slight ridge design) you can easily write your e-mails or SMS. On the sides you will find a mute and lock buttons, a volume rocker, a microUSB port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The 2.4 inch display is similar to that used on Curve 8900. Having a native resolution of 480 x 360 pixels and supporting 65K colors, it will offer vibrant and crisp text and images, with a great quality of colors. Featuring an updated user interface which offers you an easy navigation of menu, you will feel very comfortable using it. On the back side you will discover a 3.2 Megapixel camera which can take photos at a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. This camera, which has several features like flash, autofocus, image stabilization, red-eye reduction and 2x digital zoom, allows you to take photos or record clips with a good quality of images.
Similar to the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and BlackBerry Bold, the BlackBerry 9630 Verizon is a Quad-Band (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) device supporting Dual-Band CDMA, GPRS, EDGE, GSM, 3G, HSPA and UMTS networks. Even if it lacks Wi-Fi connectivity feature, it has many cool features, like Bluetooth 2.0, microUSB, serial port, dial-up networking , which will keep you in touch every time.
GPS is also onboard. Using satellites, cellular triangulation and a pre-installed BlackBerry Maps application, this smartphone can provide your location via several methods. For only $9.99 you can subscribe to a Verzion location-based service and you will be able to use a real-time voice-guided assistance. The external speaker is excellent. It produces a clear sound with a loud volume. The pre-installed Media Player support various video and music formats, including MPEG4, H.264, WMV (for movies) and MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA (for music). For a clearer and louder sound, it allows you to boost bass and treble.

Powered by a 528MHz Qualcomm processor, the BlackBerry 9630 Verizon is a fast device. It will keep up with your day-to-day demands without signs of lag or delays. The internal memory of 256 MB has proven to be a bit small for this smartphone, so thanks to the microSD card slot, you can extend it up to 16 GB. The 1400 mAh Li-Ion battery is capable of keeping this smartphone on for 5 hours of conversations and 14 days in standby mode. With many useful features and a lot of technology, this is one of the best smartphones and with a price of $199 it’s safe to say that most people can afford one.
