People are crazy about the iPhone, even if many devices were announced and presented to the public as iPhone’s competitors and the manufacturers were very enthusiastic about them, hoping that they will actually knock the Apple handset down. They are crazy about it and they can hardly wait for the new generation which is expected to become available sometime time summer.
While waiting for the new iPhone release, we can enjoy ourselves with concepts that are meant to help us forget a little bit about it and make the waiting somehow pleasant. Not to mention the fact that some of these concepts look actually pretty good.

So, let’s welcome a newcomer that was created by designer Adam Hutchinson. The phone was called “iPhone Magnet†due to the fact that the most impressive feature on its board is a magnetometer. I’m not sure whether the designer agrees with the name, but let’s call it this way for the moment.
As far as the features are concerned, this iPhone concept comes with a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, an integrated mirror, a frontal video camera, video voicemail, a magnetometer which is nothing but a digital compass, meant to increase the gaming experience, the changing-color home button which is designed to alert you of the new messages that you receive and of the notifications and an internal memory of 32GB.
The main disadvantage of the iPhone Magnet is that it’s just a concept for the moment and chances are pretty high for never hitting the mass production. Unfortunately.

I said once that the iPhone resembles a very rare and captivating mystery of this world we live in, as it creates sensation and dependence wherever it is willing to show its face. People are crazy about the Apple device and carriers from all over the place are trying their best in order to have the iPhone in their line of products.
But it seems that I was wrong. In a way. It seems that there’s an exception to the rule. Or at least this is what rumors are telling us. Fido, a Canada based carrier, has decided to gives us all the biggest surprise ever, announcing everyone that they are not interested (not anymore) in the 16GB iPhone 3G. More than that, the carrier is preparing to get rid of the Apple handset, being eager to deplete the stocks during the next month. And the surprise is that they won’t restock.

Now, we’re all curious why in earth Fido decided to do such thing, as it looks like suicide, when looking from outside. Same rumors say that Fido’s plans to discontinue the sales of the iPhone 3G is based on the fact that the device is too expensive for their tastes, especially now, when they’re trying to focus on entry-level consumers. After all, the iPhone 3G 16GB can be purchased from Fido for $299, if signing a 3-year contract agreement, which is, of course, quite a lot.
However, Fido doesn’t give up on the 8GB version, which is a little bit confusing. Anyway, if you live in Canada you might want to give Fido a helping hand. Buy iPhone 3G!

One of the most important and frequent problems that iPhone users are more and more complaining about is related to the battery life, which isn’t satisfactory for those who decide to have their own Apple device. If you think about it, something like this is quite understandable, due to the large number of features and applications that are all very demanding in terms of power. But this is not a reason for people running out of juice all of a sudden.

This is why PhoneSuit has come up with a solution: the new MiLi Power Pack which gives you the possibility to use your iPhone without worrying about running out of battery when you least expect it. Made of quality materials and incorporating some of the most advanced technologies available on the market, the MiLi Power Pack features a dual compatibility, working both with iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G. Therefore, this doesn’t mean that if you own the first generation of iPhones (the 2G version) you can’t enjoy the benefits of this new product.

The MiLi Power Pack slides onto the phone from the bottom and covers most of the back part, while the top and the front remain exposed. The pack comes with a 1800 mAh battery, a mini-USB port which can be used for recharging, and a full-size USB port that one can use when trying to charge other accessories.
The manufacturer says that the MiLi Power Pack provides up to 350 hours of stand-by time and up to 6 hours of talk time or Internet use (within 3G), up to 12 hours of talk time (on EDGE) and up to 7 hours of Internet use over Wi-Fi. In addition, the pack offers 28 hours of audio playback and 8 hours of video playback.

The MiLi Power Pack is available in a wide variety of color versions, with two bases: black and white, each with different inner linings. Therefore, the black one comes with blue, green or gray inner lining, while the white version comes with an orange, green or gray one. Now, irrespective of your preferences, the pack is expected to become available starting January 23 for $80.

Did you all see how the general attention has been caught by one event and one event only, of which I’m sure you know very much about, as it’s on everyone’s lips? Don’t raise that eyebrow as if you didn’t know what I’m talking about, because you do and you also are captivated with the impressive display of forces that makes people so damn curious. CES. CES 2009. Ok, it’s possible you don’t know about it, but only if you’re not familiar with the technological development. Otherwise, give me the right to doubt it. Consumer Electronics Show from Las Vegas, Nevada. God, how these six words get on my nerves!

Anyway, the subject of this article has nothing to do with this event, but I wanted to express my joy in this respect. Truphone, “a mobile VoIP/internet telephony operatorâ€, headquartered in London, United Kingdom, made one hell of an announcement a couple of days ago. The company introduced Skype calling, Twitter and Instant Messaging for the Apple handsets, more precisely the iPhones and iPods.
“The introduction of Skype calling and instant messaging represents yet another breakthrough for Truphoneâ€, said Geraldine Wilson, Truphone CEO. In addition, she said that “what this means for Truphone’s customers is that they can now call or message all their Skype friends using their iPhone or iPod touch. This allows iPhone and iPod touch users to have a choice in how they stay in touch with friends and colleagues around the world – all within the one applicationâ€.

These new Truphone applications are expected to become available to interested customers starting January 12. This way, you’ll be able to get in touch with Skype friends using their Skype ID and you can catch up with your friends’ activity on Twitter, updating your posts in the same time.
The announcement was made at another well-known event, the Macworld 2009, held in San Francisco, USA.

The world is definitely not the same as it was a couple of decades before. As an obvious consequence, kids are not the same, as they grow up in a different environment, a more unnatural one. Technology is almost everywhere, and children are those who are most exposed, even if parents try their best in order to protect them from becoming the slaves of a virtual universe.
Nevertheless, when a kid see his mom and dad having fun while using all sorts of iPhone applications, it’s impossible for them to ignore these influences. This is why manufacturers from all around the world focus much of their attention on the young part of their target public.

Therefore, it’s important for them to have a wide variety of iPhone applications, for example, to choose from. iKids Play announced a brand new application that is the digital personification of the “mommy survival bagâ€, which is stuffed with storybooks, coloring books, crayons and pencils.
The iKids Play is based on “print versions of children’s picture books†and it’s compatible with the iPhone and the iPod Touch, being the result of a strong collaboration between parents, their children and teachers, being an alternative to gaming, but one considered to be positive. There are five different creative play activities included in one application, such as discovering hidden images by rubbing the screen, a digital coloring book, a storytime video, the possibility to read and record aloud and a digital finger paint pad.

The iKids Play will soothe your little one when you need him to be quiet. “iKids Play activities draw on the unique features of the iPhone to use tactile and fine motor skills, spatial coordination, color recognition, listening skills and practice reading books aloudâ€, said the Mark Smith, the person who founded and created the iKids Play. “But, most important, it lets kids express their creativity while giving parents, grandparents, babysitters or anyone waiting in line or traveling with kids convenience and portability. Your iPhone. Their fun!â€.
The print versions of these picture books can be purchased online or from bookstores, while the iKids Play will be available every month at the Apple Apps Store (once a month) for only $2.99.
