It is true that many of us are choose the phone after its design and color but in my view the most important are its incorporated technologies.

The ASUS P527 Mobile Phone with no 3G

In this case, we are looking at a PDA from Asus that has no 3G function to support the fast transfers through GSM networks, but it comes with a resistant metallic housing that weights just 125 grams with the battery.
But we should look at the good parts, which in this case include a GPS SiRFStar III chipset and an FM radio, all running on a Windows Mobile 6 platform with a TI OMAP 850 processor of 200 MHz.

It works well on GSM900/1800/1900/850 networks and has a 2.6-inch TFT touchscreen of 65K colors and a resolution of 240x320 pixels.
In its 64MB memory and 128MB internal, expandable with an SDHC card, you can store different audio file formats like Midi, MP3, WMA and WAV, or the pictures and short movies you capture on the road with its built-in 2Mp camera of 1600x1200 pixels with autofocus and video recording capability.

Included in the phone’s utilities are: Java, changeable games, alarm clock, calculator, voice memo, T9, handsfree, Business Card Recognition and Voice Recognition.
Asus P527 supports GPRS Class 10, has a modem (EDGE), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g for WLAN support, USB, Bluetooth 2.0, WAP browser, Infrared transfers, and also has e-mail client with IM messaging.

We can expect the phone to come out at the end of this month but for the start it will be available only in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, India and Turkey.

New Asus Z802i available

The new model from ASUS, Asus Z802i, comes as a follow-up for the Z801i handset, therefore it resembles both in design and performances. It is built from an elegant and classy combination of leather and metal, desingned for people who want their phone to respond to their every day communication needs.

Its sharph and straight lines make Asus Z802i a phone both suitable for men and women. The hand set may appear a bit large because of its leather covering, but it is indeed a slim phone, in resonable bounds that is.

The phone features a 1.2 inch external screen, made scratch-proof with the help of a sapphire glass protection. This feature is really appreciated, as it is hard to find in other mobile phones.

The internal 2.2 inch TFT LCD screen is capable of supporting a resolution of up to 240 x 320 pixels, an acceptable size for a clamshell phone. There is also a 2 megapixel camera with flash and auto focus available, though the quality of the pictures will only classify as being an average one.

Other specifications also include a media player capable of supporting a large number of media files, including MP3, MPEG4, AAC, MPEG3 and 3GP playback. Also, connectivity is available through Bluetooth 1.2 with A2DP.

Although Ausu Z802i is available, its price has not been specified.

ASUS P525 Smartphone approved by the FCC

Asus P525 Camera PhoneAlthough the P525 smartphone from Asus has been available in Taiwan for some two months, it just received the all-clear from the gatekeepers at the FCC. Whether or not this means the smartphone will soon, if ever, see a Stateside release is still unknown.

The Asus P525 sports several features that smartphone users expect, like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and push e-mail. It's also equipped with a 2 megapixel camera and supports Skype-in and Skype-out right out of the box.

The quad-band, GSM Asustek P525 runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition. Should some company decide to release the smartphone here, well, we've got our eyes open.
