What Is A Blackberry Computer
Posted by: CameraPhonesPlaza in BlackBerry
BlackBerry is a brand of wireless smartphones which was introduced in 1999 as a two way pager. The better known BlackBerry was released and it supports mobile telephone, text messaging, web browsing, internet faxing and e-mail, through a multi touch user interface. It is developed by the Canadian company RIM (Research in Motion), and it was made at first to concentrate on e-mail. Actually, RIM offers e-mail services to non-BlackBerry devices, like Palm Treo, using the BlackBerry Connect application. In the beginning, first version of BlackBerry was monochrome, but now, all the available models have a color display.

BlackBerry includes PDA applications, like calendar and address book, and also telephony capacities. Newer models are very well known for sending and receiving e-mails anywhere, through wireless networks, and it has a built-in keyboard, which was optimized for using only the thumbs to type. This is called "thumbing". The navigantion through the system is facilitated by the scroll ball in the middle of the device, and in comparison with older versions, which has a track wheel on the side, this scroll bar is much easier to use and more comfortable.

BlackBerry models built for use with iDEN networks, like Mike and Nextel integrate a Push-To-Talk feature and it can be easily associated with two-way radio systems. Newest models of BlackBerry incorporate an ARM processor, 7 or 9, and in comparison to the older versions, 950 and 957, which used Intel 386 processors. The latest model of BlackBerry GSM has a 312 MHz processor, a 64 Mb flash memory and 16 Mb of SDRAM.
If you want to integrate BlackBerry into your company's system, you should install BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). CDMA BlackBerry use Qualcomm MSM6x00 chip sets and they include the ARM 9 processor and they also have GSM 900/1800 roaming integrated.
These BlackBerry smartphones are quite useful in business usage and they are mainly appreciated for providing e-mail access and roaming to employees. This ability to read e-mail in real-time, in every location possible, made the BlackBerry devices addictive, and in time they got in time the nickname "CrackBerry", as a funny reference to the cocaine's name, known as crack. In 2006, the word "crackberry" was the "New Word of the Year", in New's World College Dictionary's references. There are also some funny words created too after BlackBerry appeared: "berry thumb" or "berry blister" reffer to the soreness occurring from using BlackBerry's keyboard.
To summarize, BlackBerry is a wireless smartphone which is most appreciated and present in tops because of its capacity of sending and receiving e-mail at any time and anywhere. Another plus is the good Operating System, which provides a lot of useful features. Some cons are the low call quality and the price, which makes it unaffordable for some categories of customers.
