When it comes to design, this HTC Android smartphone fits in the normal dimensions for a smartphone of its class. It has 112 x 56.2 x 14.4 mm in dimensions and only 135 grams in weight. With these values, the Hero feels comfortable and fits great in any pocket. The case is made of resistant plastic and it’s available in a large range of colors: white, black, pink, gray and brown. The front side of this HTC Android is dominated by a touch screen and below it, four big keys (Call, End Home and Menu) and other two smaller keys (one used for searching and the second used for return). Below these keys a TrackBall is placed, a very useful feature for this smartphone. The right side of the Hero doesn’t host any buttons or slots while on the left side you will only spot a large volume button.

On the top part a 3.5 mm audio jack is placed while on the bottom part the Hero hosts a miniUSB standard port and a microphone.  On the back side, you certainly will notice a 5 Megapixel camera without flash, a speaker and a secondary microphone. Anyway, if you were ever concerned if this cell phone is solid or not, the answer is “VERY”. When you look at it, this smartphone seems to be a bit fragile but the truth is that it is compact and very resistant.

This HTC Android makes a great impression with its performance and technology. As we said, it comes with a 3.2 inches TFT capacitive touch screen capable of supporting 65K colors. With a native resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, this display offers excellent quality images and has proven to be great for watching movies.  The camera is another important feature of this device. For connectivity, being a top-rated smartphone, the HTC Hero comes with all high-end features: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, miniUSB, GPS and support for GSM, GRPS, EDGE, 3G and HSDPA 7.2 Mbps.

Anyway, even if it comes with many powerful features, the most important aspect of this cell phone is the Android operating system. With a Sense interface (an improved TouchFLO model) you will love using this smartphone. The battery is a Li-Ion 1350 mAh which manages to keep the unit on for 7 hours of conversations (3G) and up to 350 hours in standby mode (3G).

HTC Diamond II

The HTC Diamond II is the predecessor of the HTC Touch Diamond, a smartphone which has been launched with a huge success, being very appreciated by users. Even if the Windows Mobile did not come with improvements in the past years, the HTC has created the TouchFLO 3D interface, feature which makes the phone easy to use.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The HTC Diamond II, like all HTC models, has a great design. The case is made of quality materials, which even if they are resistant against scratches, it will be a magnet for fingerprints and dust. The Diamond II measures 108 x 53 x 13.7 mm and has 118 grams in weight, acceptable values for a smartphone in our days. Being available only in glossy black, the Diamond II looks very solid and very luxurious. The front side is occupied by a touch screen display, four software buttons (Call and End, Back and Menu) and a special sensitive bar for zooming. Above the display a secondary camera for video calls, a speaker and an ambient light sensor are placed. On the top side you will notice the Power On/off button while in the bottom part a microUSB port is placed (which allows you to charge the phone, connect it to a PC or attach headphones) and a stylus pen slot. On the right side, the Diamond II hosts a speaker while in the left side it comes with a volume button.

As we said, the HTC Diamond II is equipped with a 3.2 inches touch screen which has a native resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Supporting 65K colors and having many features like accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, touch-sensitive zoom-bar and handwriting recognition, this display will satisfy all your expectations. Combined with the TouchFLO 3D interface, this display will make you love this smartphone. On the back side, the Diamond II comes with a 5 Megapixel camera capable of taking pictures at a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels and record VGA clips at a speed of 15 fps.

Many people say that a camera shutter would be more comfortable because taking pictures is made by touching the display. This is a good feature because having the touch focus feature, the image focalization is made in the same point on the display where you press to take a photo. Anyway, even if it lacks a LED Flash, the images are great with a good contrast and sharp colors. For storing your files, the HTC Diamond II has 512 MB of internal memory, which thanks to the microSD card slot, can be extended up to 12 GB.

In terms of connectivity, just like a smarphone, the Diamond II does a great job. It comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB, GPS and support for GSM, GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and 3G networks. With all these you always will be able to stay in touch with your friends. The Multimedia category is provided by the TouchFLO 3D interface, offering interactive and very attractive menus and control functions. The battery is a Li-Ion one, with a capacity of 1100 mAh. It manages to keep this smartphone on for almost 5 hours of conversations and up to 500 hours in standby mode.

In conclusion we can only say that the Diamond II is another excellent HTC handset, a smartphone which comes equipped with a lot of high-end features and a great and luxurious design. Even so, we don’t know why the Diamond II doesn’t have the same success like its predecessor.
