HTC Dash has a special design, which you don’t encounter in many phones. The design is also sleek, with a very nice screen filled with vibrant colors, and has some of the most wanted features in today’s smart phones: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. Push-email and other multimedia features. What is more, it is also equipped with a 1.3 megapixels camera and the battery life is also impressive.

As you can tell, performance is reasonable and the response time is fast. You will have to get used to the overall design and if you are looking for a phone to help you stay connected while you are out, then this is a great choice for you. HTC Dash measures 4.4 by 2.5 by 0.5 inches and 4.2 ounces, it’s thin and it fills fit in your pocket. And when you lift it up when talking on the phone, you will feel it nicely in your hands. It’s so comfortable that in many occasions you can hold in one hand.

It has a full QWERTY keyboard, but no touch screen. it runs on Windows Mobile 5 smartphone edition, so everything you need to do will be handled through the external controls. The screen is 2.4” and it features great colors. It displays 65.536 colors and has a native resolution of 320x240 pixels. Text looks sharp and colors vibrant, and the good thing is that everything is readable in direct sunlight. Personalizing the screen is possible using background images, themes; change the font size, backlighting time and so on. Above the display there are two status LEDs of different colors which shows the battery status, messages and wireless connection.

Of course below the screen are the navigation controls: Talk/End buttons, two soft keys, shortcut for Today’s screen, back button and the five-way toggle. You will see how nicely spaced each key is and there will be no problems in finding the one you need. And even the full QWERTY keyboard is easy to use, even if it doesn’t look so. The buttons are tactile and backlit, so even in dark environments you will be able to send your messages.

Furthermore, the last row of the keyboard has quick-launch buttons for messages, camera, and T-Mobile service. And to continue with the interesting parts, on the side on the right there is a touch strip which allows you to control the volume. You just have to touch the area to turn the volume up or down, but being a touch part you might encounter some problems sometimes. And if you are left-handed it might be more difficult for you.

But fortunately you can adjust the sensitivity in the Settings menu and even turn it off. On the back of the HTC Dash is the camera and the self-portrait mirror. The camera has no flash and the photo quality is average at 1.3 megapixels. The microSD expansion slot is behind the battery cover. For viewing different file types you are given ClearVue Suite. Other features include the basic: voice recorder, calculator, task manager and a download agent.

For navigating the web, you have integrated Wi-Fi and you can use Internet Explorer Mobile as a default browser. The battery is due to last 5 hours in talk time and 9 days in stand-by.

HTC Diamond Specifications

HTC Diamond made a great impression upon us with its beautiful screen, 3D interface and being a smart phone it also includes Windows Mobile 6.1, Wi-Fi, GPS, a 3.2 megapixels camera and Bluetooth. In many ways you can say this phone is very stylish and offers a great feature set.

Maybe what really make this phone so special are the looks, it has a mirrored face and prism effect in the back. It’s small and compact and will fit any pocket. It measures 4 inches tall by 2 inches wide by 0.4 inch deep and weights 3.8 ounces.

Some other specs on the HTC Diamond are the 2.8” display, with a native resolution of 680x480. The touch screen has VGA quality and believe it or not, the images and text look absolutely amazing, so crisp and clear. The orientation sensor will automatically switch the screen from landscape or portrait. The TouchFlo 3D interface is a real eye-catcher. On the home screen you will be able to notice a larger clock, a calendar and call history. What is more, on the bottom of the screen you will notice a toolbar loaded with applications such as e-mail, music, Web browser, weather page and menu settings. You can easily select them by passing your finger through them, a nice 3D effect.

The screen is very important in a touch screen or smart phone, and in this case it is truly amazing and delivers exceptional quality. If you want to text messages or write any e-mails you can use the on-screen keyboard, both full QWERTY and compact QWERTTY. Even if it looks a bit cramped, when you start typing you will see it is very easy to use and you won’t have so many misspells. But if you are considering a long message you should know that the keyboard takes half the screen, so there’s not much space left for seeing your typing.

Below the display are the controls, tactile ones: the Talk and End keys, Home key, the Back button and the directional keypad with the central button. All the buttons are flush and easy to use. You can also press the navigation keypad in all directions, it is touch sensitive and in some situations you can use it for zooming in/out pages. On the sides you will find other controls such as the volume rocker on the left and on the right are the stylus, USB port, headphone jack. Unfortunately there isn’t a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you will have to settle with the ear buds which come in the package. The power button is on the top and in the back the camera is located.

Other HTC Diamond specs include voice recorder, PDF reader, task manager, calculator, Zip manager and Microsoft Office Mobile Suite. If you’re wondering about the internal memory, find out it has 256MB ROM and 192MB SDRAM and 4GB internal storage. There are no expansion possibilities, but you will have enough room for all your photos, music, applications and so on.

To conclude, it has a 3.2 megapixels camera with 4x zoom and it can also record videos. The battery life is rated at 5.5 hours in talk time and 11 days in stand-by. You will have to charge it often in general use.

HTC Dash

HTC Dash has a really sleek design with some vibrant colors and up to date features such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, push-email, great call quality and an exceptional battery life. It has multimedia functions and a 1.3 megapixels camera. If you don’t mind such a low resolution camera on your smart phone, this could be your choice.

You can buy it for $199 with a two year contract from a service provider or get it for one year contract at $249.99. When you see the overall phone you might think its looks are awkward and you might say a bit out of the ordinary, but once you hold it and start typing on it you will like it a lot. It has a full QWERTY keyboard to be proud of; it measures 4.4 by 2.5 by 0.5 inches and weights 4.2 ounces.

HTC Dash has no touch screen and it runs on Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone Edition, so everything will be handled from the keypad. It’s not that bad, but with all touch screens these days with QWERTY keyboard as well, we would have liked to see the same features in this case. But a great feature is the 2.4” TFT screen with vibrant colors. It supports 65.536 colors and has a 320x240 pixel resolution. The screen is great for viewing picture, web pages as everything looks sharp. Even in direct sunlight you will be able to read information on the screen. You can start personalizing the home screen with wallpapers, change the backlighting time, font size and change the color theme. Above the display you will see there are two LEDs having different colors that blink for messages, wireless connection and battery status. And just below the screen you will be able to find the navigation array: talk and end buttons, soft keys, shortcut to Today’s screen, the back button and the five-way toggle with the central OK button. Keys are nicely spaced and you will be able to type comfortably.

At the bottom of the keyboard, the last row is dedicated for quick-launch buttons for different widgets such as the camera, messages and T-Mobile T-zone service. You can easily type your messages and select menu options with just one hand. On the right side of the phone there is an interesting control, a touch strip that allows you to control the volume. If you think the control is too sensitive and it gets the command done too fast you can adjust the sensitivity or even turn it off in the Settings menu.

On the back of the phone is the usual camera lens, unfortunately with no flash, and the self-portrait mirror. On the right side as well is the microSD expansion slot. The power button is on the left and the mini USB port on the bottom of the phone. You can easily get the job done with HTC Dash if you are on the road thanks to the operating system. You can edit documents; always check your e-mails, open different file types.

Other functions include the calculator, voice recorder, download agent and a task manager. The internal memory of the unit is 64MB SDRAM and 128MB Flash ROM. The 1.3 megapixels camera has video-recording abilities and some settings you can do for your pictures.
