There were many rumors concerning the device since the first day the news appeared in the spotlight, which made people very curious about this new-entry, but now it’s official.

If you take a short glance at the iriver Wave, then you will surely notice the simple silhouette, which is actually elegant and discrete, despite the asymmetric figure. Besides that, I’m sure that it will catch your attention, not only because it’s the first iriver phone ever built, but also because we’re talking about a phone equipped with full touch sensitivity. Another feature that you wouldn’t miss is the cool trackball, which reminds me of the Blackberry handsets.

Working as a media player, playing audio and video files, the iriver Wave’s features include: a 3 inchTFT touchscreen display with a resolution of 400 x 272 pixels and 260K colors, plus handwriting recognition, Wi-Fi capabilities, VoIP capabilities, text messaging, a couple of pre-installed dictionaries, access to a music service like Bugs Music Service, FM radio, an integrated mom speaker, USB 2.0, 7 preset EQ settings and an internal memory of 4 GB and microSD card for expandable memory of up to 4 GB.

The iriver Wave measures 110.5 x 52.5 x 15.5 millimeters and weighs approximately 103 grams, and the package includes a set of earphones, a USB cable, a stylus pen, a holder for the battery, an adapter, a start guide that will quickly put you on theme, a warranty card and an installation CD.

The bad thing is that details about the price or the availability of the phone aren’t yet available, even if when rumors started to spread it was announced to be exclusively released in the Korean market on March 9, 2009.

iRiver announced to release a new cell phone on the market with a design similar with the popular iPhone.
The GSM phone has a full touch-sensitive navigation display measuring 3 inches and having a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels, running on a Linux-based platform.

It features all the basic applications as the iPhone, such as media player and the unlocking slider, and integrates a 2MP camera with video recording capability, as well as 4GB internal memory, a built-in GPS, mobile TV and the Adobe Flash Player to display YouTube short videos.

It is said to include also Wi-Fi support and 3G technology and that it will reach first the European market.

The iRiver cell phone will be released until the end of this year and we are all curious to see if it’ll beat the iPhone.
