How can one interpret the collaborations between all sorts of companies, more or less known on the market, collaborations that you wouldn’t have expected and take everyone by surprise? The skeptics would say that this is the perfect way for unknown brands to enter the spotlights. Others, on the other hand, would consider the idea in a very pragmatic way, conscious about the fact that when two companies join together they can easily make people aware of their existence.

LG, for example, the South Korean company, loves teaming up with other brands. The LG Prada II is still on the peak of the iceberg, since the device has just been released to the large public. The company is already rumored to collaborate with another huge brand, Formula 1. This might easily turn into the biggest partnership of LG in the past couple of years.

The news has not been confirmed by the company, but during a conference press, LG’s chief marketing officer, Dermot Boden said that they are “looking to develop products in the future with Formula 1â€. There weren’t any other comments concerning these products, so we can’t be sure what this guy was talking about, a F1 phone or a new range of consumer electronics. However, LG has become a Global Partner and a Technology Partner of Formula 1. Therefore, starting next year, as a result of this collaboration, the South Korean manufacturer will be granted “exclusive designations and marketing rights as the official Consumer Electronics, Mobile Phone and Data Processor of Formula 1â€.
So there are chances for us to get our hands on a F1-branded LG mobile phone sometime in the future. The only thing we should hope for is that the two companies will dare to create a brand new device, from scratch, and that we won’t get to see a reconditioned old model.

LG has released, without creating too much of a stir, a new affordable clamshell, the LG KP152. Don’t hurry up to go grab the device, because for the moment the handset is apparently available only on the LG Brazil website, but rumors say that it will be released in Europe too; the first country to get to see the phone is Russia, where KP152 will start selling starting this month.

You have to admit that the phone is unbelievably appealing, despite the fact that the new LG phone comes with a very simple design. LG KP152 is undoubtedly an elegant device, but the bad news about it is that the features list is very poor. You won’t be craving for these features, you can trust me on this one! The phone might be the first step of a fiery battle that LG is decided to fight, in order to conquer emerging markets with basic devices, similar to what Nokia is doing with the recent introduction of affordable cell phones and innovative devices specifically designed for people in emerging markets.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
Therefore, the features and capabilities are more than weak, there’s no doubt about it. Among the main specs of LG KP152 are included: a tri band GSM/GPRS connectivity, FM radio, VGA photo camera, a TFT display with 65k colors (its resolution is not known) and an 800mAh Li-Ion battery. So, if you’re one of those guys who are hunting the latest in technology, there’s no way for you to ever buy this.
Still you’ll remember the device, as it measures 88 x 47 x 17.3 millimeters and weighs only 80 grams. It’s rather uncertain what amazes the most, the low price or the way these measurements have been combined. On the other hand, the phone provides up to 3.5 hours of talk time and up to 350 hours of stand-by time.

Rumors say that LG KP152 will be the first in a long line of such phones, designed and developed to conquer emerging markets with cheaper and simpler devices and this approach might be the result of a survival plan the company came up with, in order to make it through the dark financial world crisis.
As I said before, unfortunately, this phone is available only in Brazil for the moment, but it is expected to arrive in Europe as well, probably in Russia at first, and it will most likely be available in two colors: red and black, with a retail price of somewhere around $100.

It seems like the cheap and simple LG KC550 provided with a 5 megapixel camera will soon end its loneliness, as LG is preparing its new companion. The upcoming LG KC560 phone looks looks very much like its sibling. The main difference is that, compared to the previous devices, which was imaging-centric, this one is focused on style and music.

The LG KC560 handset leaked today along with some information regarding the release date, which is set just in time for the holidays and has, as we just said, multimedia as its key element. The most important gimmick on KC560 consists of the small colored LEDs that are placed around the bottom side of the cover. They start blinking whenever the phone rings. In addition, the LEDs can flicker according to the music you’re listening to on the phone. On the other hand, the phone has a golden D-pad and back panel.

Anyway, if we’re trying to put the imposing looks aside, the LG KC560 has quite a decent features list on board. Therefore, the specs of LG KC560 include: tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900), GPRS/EDGE connectivity, 2.4-inch 262K color QVGA TFT display, a 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash, FM radio, USB and Bluetooth and microSD card slot.
The LG KC500 is expected to cost somewhere between 300 and 350 US dollars (meaning 237 – 270 euro) before taxes and subsidies, when it eventually becomes available. In the meantime, on the other hand, three new versions of already announced LG handsets appeared in what seems to be the week of bad taste over at the Korean manufacturer. The LG KF300, KF510 and KF 570 are all receiving their own gold-plated carbon copies. Save for the looks, nothing has changed in those new versions.

The South Korean company LG Electronics and Bell Canada, a major telecommunications company, have announced a new stylish fashion-phone called LG Reveal, which reminds of a make-up compact. The device was unveiled along with two other cell phones, LG Dare and LG Voyager, during the L’Oreal Fashion Week in Toronto. LG’s Fall Fashion collection made its runway debut during a technology-infused Carlie Wong fashion show on the runway in Nathan Philips Square.
“My Spring/Summer 2009 collection is all about bringing quality construction, attention to detail and luxurious pieces to the fashion world, which is exactly what LG is bringing to technologyâ€, said designer Carlie Wong. “I want the women who wear my clothes to feel feminine, yet empowered and unstoppable. She’s the Glamorous Gangster and an LG cell phone is her hottest accessoryâ€.

Fortunately, Canadians won’t have to wait until the spring/summer to get their hands on these three new iconic LG phones, as they will be available at Bell and TELUS in the coming months.
LG Reveal, which will be soon available from Bell, is designed, of course, for the modern fashion conscious women, and sports a flowery purple and black design. Now, the phone is equipped with a 2.4 inch screen, a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2 megapixel camera with video capabilities, EV-DO support, Bluetooth connectivity and speakerphone.

But the good news doesn’t end here: the handset will be offered with an exclusive Swarovski Crystal Bluetooth headset as part of the LG Shimmer Kit. This is quite an interesting feature that is meant to differentiate the device from other fashion mobile. The result should look appealing for the girls in their twenties. For each package that is to be sold, $5 will be donated to Fashion Cares.
There are no words on availability of the LG Reveal until now, but the rumored $149.95 is a real bargain for such a blinged-out device.

As far as the touch phones are concerned, the target public is always pretentious, as it’s based on people who know exactly what they want and what their needs are. They know, on the other hand, what the market is offering them, at a precise moment in time, and the must-have features the devices should include, when it comes to the technical side.
For those of you looking into getting your first touchscreen handset, but lacking astonishing funds, being therefore constrained by the financial aspect, the LG KP500, dubbed the Cookie, would be a good bet. The device hasn’t been officially announced by LG, but rumors say that the Cookie is aimed at users who are budget-conscious.

The latest news is that LG is intensely preparing a new affordable touchscreen handset. Despite its hilarious name, the Cookie will offer a modern feature set that seems pretty enough for the estimated price of 170 euro before taxes and subsidies ($230). The 11.9-inch thick handset features three buttons on its face, positioned below the 3-inch TFT touchscreen display, while around back there’s a 3 megapixel fixed focus camera to take care of your snapshots. There’s supposedly no support for 3G networks on-board, but at least it gets EDGE and quad-band GSM at your disposal. Another thing is that LG Cookie won’t provide an exciting video recording experience, as some other LG cameraphones do, as you’ll have only QVGA video at 12 fps.

Like most of the touch based handsets on the market, LG KP500 has got an integrated accelerometer too with auto-screen rotate for images, videos and documents. In addition, there’s also a virtual QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode and office document viewer.
The design is borrowed from its relative, the LG Renoir, and it uses the latest LG Flash-based user interface, which is thumb-optimized, though there is a stylus in the package too. Weighing only 89 grams, the device is said to be having a really attractive price point as promised – the estimated price, as I said before, is only 170 euro before taxes and subsidies. This is pretty good for a touch phone, isn’t it?
