LG Rumor phone – exclusively from Sprint

The fact that the second generation of the LG Rumor phone is going to be sold via Sprint was well known by everyone, but what we all wanted to know was if the company will give the phone the official treatment one day. And that day has come.

Released under the name of LG Rumor 2, the device will be exclusively sold by Sprint in the United States, just like the older version. The Rumor 2 is aimed at those customers who are looking for affordable phones and who want to be permanently connected to the world outside.

The features list includes the following: a full QWERTY keyboard (which slides out), a QVGA TFT display with 262k colors, stereo Bluetooth connectivity, MP3 player, 1.3 megapixel camera, Sprint Navigation, which is aimed at enabling voice and on-screen, turn-by-turn directions, Sprint Mobile Email Work which comes with Microsoft Exchange Server and IBM Lotus Notes, additional removable backplate and a microSD card slot of no more than 16GB.

Measuring 4.4 x 2.1 x 0.7 inches and weighing 4.23 ounces, the LG Rumor phone provides up to 5.5 hours of talk time.

The original LG Rumor, launched two years ago, in 2007, became the best selling CDMA cell phone ever sold by Sprint, or at least one of them. This is why the North American carrier has great expectations about the new one.

“LG Rumor gives customers the benefits of Sprint’s Now Network on a phone that’s attractive and affordable, appealing to anyone who needs the ability to quickly send off a text or PictureMail”, said Kevin Packingham, the senior vice president of Product and Technology Development, at Sprint. “Staying connected to your family, office or even social networks has never been as easy and cost-effective as it is with the pairing of this device and Sprint’s Everything Messaging pricing plan. In today’s economic climate, it is great to know you don’t have to compromise to get a good value in wireless”.

The phone will be available in two color versions, Black Titanium and Vibrant Blue. The first one will start selling on March 15th, while the second one will hit the market on March 29th, both at www.sprint.com. LG Rumor will be found in all Sprint retail channels starting April 19th, for a price of $49.99, after a $50 mail-in rebate. For this to happen, you’ll have to sign a two-year service agreement.

New LG flip phone and LG slider phone to come out

It’s not your fault that you got accustomed with having all sorts of cell phones presented and released, just like mushrooms after rain. The manufacturers are the ones to be blamed, because they spare no moment and no effort in order to design and produce handsets with a frequency that exceeds even the customers’ expectations.

Now, because this is the rule, let me tell you a few things about two new devices that are said to be preparing to hit the market sometime this month, by the guys over Mobile Review. The two LG cell phones are the GD330 and the GB125. We don’t have enough details at our disposal, so don’t put your hopes too up, you won’t be able to get a very clear picture about these two! Nevertheless, there are some nice images that will give you a helping hand.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The first one, the GD330, is an LG slider phone that is expected to closely follow the stylish design of the LG Secret. As far as the features are concerned, they include a 2.2 inch display, a 2 megapixel camera (compared to the Secret, which has a 5 megapixel one, but the style is practically the same), FM radio and a couple of touch keys.

The second one, the GB125, is an LG flip phone provided with the following features: a 1.5 inch display, FM radio and a 950 mAh battery. As you can see in the picture, the phone lacks an external display, so it’s rather obvious that the GB125 will be a basic phone. We don’t know whether the phone is provided with a camera or not, but we sure hope so.

Mobile Review considers that both devices will be sold in the emerging and entry-level markets, due to their features list. Anyway, as far as the availability is concerned, the LG slider phone is expected to start selling with a price of 7500 rubles (approximately $200), while the LG flip phone is said to be sold for a price of 2500 rubles (meaning $65).

Another LG handset spotted

There was a little bit of a confusion concerning the LG Viewty II phone, as it has been mistaken with otherdevices, like the LG KC910 Renoir or the LG Viewty KU900.

Anyway, the point is that some of us rushed into conclusions, as the GSM HelpDesk made an announcement worthy of all the general attention. Therefore, these guys claim that they managed to take a picture of an official features list, during the LG Dealer Show which took place in Tiel, Netherlands. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to photograph the device. What a pity, right? Kind of weird, but we’ll have to content ourselves with the specifications.

Now, as far as the features are concerned, they include: quad band GSM, 7.2 Mbps HSDPA, 1.4 Mbps HSUPA connectivity, a 3 inch full WVGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, S class 3D interface, an 8 megapixel camera with Xenon Flash, manual and autofocus, image stabilizer, face detection, burst mode, video recording capabilities at very high speeds, ISO1600 and, of course, geo-tagging. There are also DivX and XVID playback, integrated Wi-Fi, assisted GPS, accelerometer and a microSDHC card slot of up to 32 GB.

Looking at this list and paying a little bit of attention, you’ll see that this LG handset is very similar to the GC900 and the KC910 Renoir, which means that the mistake is somehow understandable, the only difference consisting of the new S-Class interface.

Unfortunately, the information about the price and the official release date isn’t available for the moment.

Five new LG cell phones

There were some rumors circulating in last November about the fact that LG announced a very courageous plan which was established for 2009. The plan consisted of releasing a great amount of devices during this year, approximately 125. Impressive, isn’t it?

We can’t say whether LG is going to make its dream come true, but what we know for sure is that the South Korean company has more than 10 cell phones that are ready to be launched and to become a genuine success. And we had the chance to see some of these handsets during the events that took place in the beginning of this year, such as the Mobile World Congress.

One of these new LG cell phones is the LG GM310, which is aimed at music fanatics. The next in line is the LG GB220, a clamshell also, that doesn’t have a 3G support. Similar to the GB250, the only difference consists of the fact that the internal memory is of only 512MB.
