Business cell phones from Mobiado

Expensive cell phones are not for regular people. And don’t get me wrong, the last thing I want is to offend someone, but I strongly believe that expensive cell phones (and when I say expensive I think of luxurious, with hefty prices of thousands of dollars) are targeted at certain categories of customers. And business people are part of such a category.

But there are some cell phones that are especially designed for business men and women, even if they are not that expensive. However, here we have an example of devices that are both aimed at the business area and luxurious. I’m talking about the Grand Line, designed by the Canadian company Mobiado, which was intensely discussed in the last couple of months.

It seems that the new line of luxury phones is about to become reality, as the Grand 350PRL has been officially announced. The novelty involved in the news is related to the fact that this phone is the first to come equipped with a QWERTY keyboard. Not to mention that the design is different from anything that you’ve seen before, coming from Mobiado.

If you had the chance to read about another Mobiado cell phone, then you should know by now that most of the devices are CNC machined from aluminum, having a frame that is plated with black nickel. The materials used with this cell phone are all very expensive: a layer of black mother of pearl that is placed behind a piece of sapphire crystal, a ruby infrared screen, buttons made of sapphire crystal and stainless steel, screws that are also made of gun metal black stainless steel.

As for the features, the Grand 350PRL comes with a 2.36 inch TFT QVGA display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, two different home screen modes that can be both customized, microUSB, a 3.2 megapixel camera with CMOS sensor, digital zoom, autofocus and LED flash, Share on Ovi support, video recording capabilities, at 15fps, Bluetooth 2.0 eith EDR, an internal memory of 110MB and microSD card support for external memory of no more than 8GB.

The phone measures 114.1 x 57.4 x 12.1 millimeters (the protruding buttons are excluded) and weighs 217 grams. And, for those who are interested in business cell phones, the Grand 350PRL is expected to be sold for a price of $2,600 (before taxes).

Expensive cell phone from Mobiado

Maybe you were yearning for a brand new luxury cell phone to feast your eyes on it, because I haven’t written anything about such devices for a long period of time. I said it before and I won’t ever get tired with saying it over and over again: I’m not a huge fan of these expensive cell phones that cost more than my wardrobe, my personal stuff and my car, all included. Not to mention the fact that it’s ridiculous to spend such amounts of money on something that doesn’t do much good.

So, to satisfy your deepest desire concerning the luxurious aspect of life, Mobiado has just announced a device that is said to continue somehow “the tradition of the gold GCB series”. It’s a rose gold plated model, called Professional 105GCB (or PRO105GCB Rose).

As you’re already accustomed to, the phone is a mixture between the age-old techniques that you might find on many, but so very many mechanical watches coming from Switzerland, and of large blocks of sapphire crystal that are the living proof of a simplicity which is both elegant and modern.

The Canadian phone has the frame made of solid brass, being the result of the CNC process, and is adorned with 18-karat rose gold plating that has a thickness of no more than 10 micron, while the screws are all made of “gun metal black stainless steel”. As for the buttons, you’ll be able to touch large pieces of sapphire crystal that are all hand painted with 18-karat rose gold. Another great thing about it is that the keypad lights up.

Now, let’s see what this expensive cell phone is able to do. It comes with quad band GSM/EGSM and dual band WCDMA (available for North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific), a 2 megapixel camera with video capabilities, a 2 inch display with 16 million colors, Bluetooth connectivity, microUSB, music player for the music addicts (support for AAC, eAAC+ and MP3 files) and an internal memory of 1GB.

The price is not known for the moment, but it’s good that you’ll be able to get one unlocked, even if you might be paying an impressive extra amount of money.

The Mobiado 105GMT luxury cell phone

Even if I don’t quite understand the preference some people show when it comes to expensive cell phones, coming from all sorts of pretentious manufacturers, such as Gresso, Vertu or Goldvish, there was a time when the only thing I wrote about referred to such devices.

Another similar company is Mobiado, a luxury cell phones maker that makes rich people the happiest human beings alive, which has just launched a brand new 105GMT handset, the white version of the first model of the series.

If you remember well, the previous phone was gold plated, but this one is covered with approximately 274 of sapphire crystal and it's provided with a mechanical watch that shows the user three time zones (in the same time). In addition, the device is CNC machined, being made of brass and nickel.

As far as the features are concerned, the Mobiado luxury cell phone comes equipped with a quad-band GSM / EDSM and dual-band WCDMA, a 2 inch 16M colors screen, a 2 megapixel camera which is provided with video capabilities, an internal memory higher than 1 GB, Bluetooth, microUSB connectivity, a music player that supports a wide variety of audio formats such as AAC, eAAC+ and MP3.

If you are interested in the expensive white version of the 105GMT series, then you should know that it is sold unlocked, working in North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia (the Pacific coast), as long as the following networks are available: GSM / EGSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and WCDMA 850 / 2100. Unfortunately, the details about the pricing and availability of the new luxury cell phone aren’t available at the moment.

Latest cell phones in the luxury market

Mobiado, the Canadian luxury cell phones manufacturer (for those who don’t already know), has just announced a brand new handset that is expected to “destroy” like the BELLPERRE handsets I was writing about a couple of days ago. Part of the professional line, 105 GMT Discovery was described with pretentious words as “the expression of mechanical perfection, mastering of aesthetic details and the integrity of consistent craftsmanship”.

Being the first Mechanical Watch Mobile Phone, the collection is meant to surpass time and fashion barriers and represents a fine mixture of the tradition of watch-making and ground-breaking technologies applied in the world of mobile phones. Entirely made from sapphire crystal (the front and the back of the cell phone), it incorporates a Discovery mechanism in the lower half of the case which makes it possible for the user to set two international time zones, while the electronic phone enables the local time. This means that Mobiado 105 GMT gives you the possibility to view 3 time zones at the same time.

The Swiss mechanical watch movement consists of no more, no less than 25 jeweled bearings. It “performs 28,800 vibrations per hour, has 28 hours of power reserve and is a self-winding automatic mechanism with ball-bearing”. The movements, on the other hand, are fixed to a 3D shock absorbing system (which is in the patent pending phase), for protection. Made from brass (with the help of computer numerical control machines – aka CNC), the case of the Discovery mechanism is plated with 24-Carat gold.

Everything is precious about the latest cell phones coming from Mobiado. The keypad is made of sapphire crystal and has the buttons hand painted with 24-Carat gold paint, while the sliding battery cover is made entirely from one single piece of sapphire crystal. An optional feature consists of diamond watch hour and an “M”, made of diamond also, placed somewhere between the two mechanisms. The “M” illuminated when the keypad lights up.

When it comes to the technical features, they include: quadband GSM/EGSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and dual band WCDMA (850/2100 MHz), a 2-inch QVGA display with a resolution of 320x240 pixels (supports up to 16.7 million true colors), an integrated 2 megapixel digital camera (the resolution of images is 1600x1200 pixels while the resolution of video QCIF/SQCIF is 176x144 pixels), Series 40 5th edition, music player (supports AAC, eAAC+ and MP3 formats), video player (supports H.263, MPEG4 and 3GPP formats and codecs), Bluetooth 1.2, microUSB, an internal memory of 1GB.

Weighing 241.1 grams and measuring 128x47.5x10.6 millimeters, the Mobiado Discovery provides up to 3.5 hours of talk time and up to 9 days of stand-by time. As for the price and availability, there is no information yet. However, the company announced that there will be released a limited 50-pieces edition.

Mobiado unveils four new luxury cell phones

As if there weren’t already enough Mobiado luxury cell phones on the market, the Canadian manufacturer has announced the release of four new handsets: Professional 105 EM White, Professional 105 EM Red, Professional 105 EM CLB Black and Professional 105 EM CLB Silver.

The first two phones are part of the Professional 105 EM Special Edition series which continues the tradition of the Executive Model series. They are built from exquisite materials like maple burl wood, titanium, sapphire crystals and 24K gold. Burl wood is highly prized by artists because of its unique beauty and rarity. Every 105 EM Special Edition is as different and unique as every rare exotic tree is.

<-125x125 Button - left->
Each pair of wood inserts is CNC machined from the same piece of solid maple burl wood. This is a guarantee to the consistent grain structure on both sides of the phone. The maple burl wood is then inlayed into a nickel plated, brass frame. While the screws are made of titanium, the button of the 105EM Special Edition White are sapphire crystal, hand painted with silver paint, in order to produce front and back surfaces made entirely of sapphire crystals (225 carats).

As far as the Red version is concerned, the wood inserts are also CNC machined from the same piece of solid box burl wood, for the exactly same reason. The box burl wood is then inlayed into a 5 micron thick 24-karat gold plated, brass frame. The screws are gold plated brass and the buttons are sapphire crystals, hand painted with 24-karat gold.

Based on the construction of the Professional 105 ZAF lineup, the entire front and back of the 105EM Special edition phones have been crafted from large pieces of sapphire crystal, providing a modern minimalist look with a wear resistance second only to diamond. These luxury cell phones utilize a unique and hidden sliding battery cover mechanism (patent pending) with the battery cover being made entirely from one piece of sapphire crystal.

The specs of Professional 105EM White and Professional 105EM Red include: quad band GSM/EGSM and dual band WCDMA (850/2100) connectivity, a 2 megapixel camera and video camera, more than 1 GB of internal memory (whatever that means), a 2-inch display with up to 16 million colors, Bluetooth and micro USB connectivity, and a music player that supports AAC, eAAC+ and MP3 audio formats.

Professional 105EM CLB Black and Professional 105EM CLB Silver have the same specs as the other two Mobiado luxury cell phones, but they look a little bit different. And I’m not sure this is a very good thing.

All four devices will be available unlocked, but unfortunately there is no word about the release date and prices. Anyway, don’t expect them to be affordable!
