There are so many models of mobile phones out there that categorization is needed. You have messaging phones, multimedia-enhanced, smartphones, touch screen phones, budget-phones and so on. Motorola Moto Q9c falls in the messaging category, as it brings strong messaging capabilities and a useful keyboard to make typing easier.

Within the other specifications, we can include GPS, Windows Mobile 6 upgrade, the 1.3 megapixels camera and decent call quality. As some users are already accustomed to Motorola Q devices, this specific model brings some improvements regarding performance and the addition of GPS, even though it still suffers from some design issues.

The phone has a black, classic casing with a chrome accent along the edges for giving an elegant look. The phone weights 5.2 ounces and it is also hard to place it in your pockets as it is bulky and pretty large. But thanks to the soft-touch finish on the back, you can easily grip the phone and type messages faster. The display has 2.4”, TFT diagonal and non-touch, but supports 65.000 colors and features a pixel resolution of 320x240. Images and text look vibrant and sharp and the adaptive technology will automatically change the backlighting depending on the environment you are in. you can make some changes regarding the Home screen using background images, themes and so on. Below the display are the QWERTY keyboard and the navigation array: two soft keys, Talk/End buttons, Back button, home-page shortcut and the five-way directional keypad with the OK central button. All of these controls are easy to use, but because they are slightly flush to the surface, you might need some pressure while pressing.

The keys on the keyboard are spacious and large, so they work fine for users with larger hands as well. In this case there were some complaints about the keys being rather stiff and not having a nice tactile feedback. On the bottom row you will find some shortcuts for the camera, inbox and speakerphone. On the left side of the phone are the microSD expansion slot and the mini USB port and on the right side you can find the scroll wheel and the customizable launch key. Moreover, you can use the jog dial to navigate through menu items, to select applications, adjust the volume, but only when you are engaged into a call. The speaker and the camera lens are on the back and on top is the 2.5mm headset jack.

Motorola Moto Q9c has indeed strong messaging capabilities, e-mail, SMS and inst messaging, but the call quality is not forgotten either. Even though some QWERTY phones are focused only on messaging, Motorola tries to satisfy both categories of users. To conclude, due to Dataviz Documents To Go you are able to view and edit Word documents, Excel and PowerPoint. Among other wireless options we can include Bluetooth and GPS. You can use stereo Bluetooth headsets, hands-free kits and dial-up networking. For travelers, GPS comes in handy as users will be able to locate their position, get color maps, information about various businesses, traffic data and driving directions. The camera performed well, even though you can’t have too many expectations at this quality. For some quick shots it will do just fine.
