Neonode N2 Cell Phone with Optical Touch Screen Technology

Neonode N2 Cell Phone with Optical Touch Screen Technology

Neonode N2 is a new cell phone launched in US by the Swedish company Neonode that wanted to bring on the market a phone with the neon user interface and the zForce optical touch screen technology, which is the most advanced touch screen technology existent at the moment.

Europe has the phone model since this autumn, and in US the phone carrier that will provide it is not known yet. It will be announced later this year, after the CES 2008 event in Las Vegas, in Central Hall Booth 9817, where Neonode will present the N2 and its latest technologies.

The specifications of the Neonode N2 are already made public on the official website of the company.
Neonode N2 is a GSM Quad-Band (850/900/1900MHz) phone with GPRS, having a 2-inch display of 65K colors and 176 x 220 pixels resolution.
It supports up to 32GB of extra memory with a microSD card and for connectivity it comes with Bluetooth OBEX, headset and FTP profiles.
It is also equipped with an MP3 player supporting MP3, WMA and Wav files, speaker, Calendar and Address Book with ActiveSync.

The built-in camera is of 2MP with fixed focus and video playback, supporting MPEG and WMV file formats.
It all measures 47x77x14,7 mm and weights 60 grams.

But let’s see what exactly zForce and neon interface are referring at.
zForce is the latest technology used in building touch-sensitive displays and it consist of an optical touch screen that reacts to sweeping and tapping signals on the screen fast and easy, with no need to pressure or to use a stylus.
On the other hand, the nano user interface is an intuitive solution that increases the screen’s usage allowing the user to access the data very fast.

"Our main focus is the user experience, which is the true key behind Neonode N2. It ranges from how you are able to use it, which we have enabled through zForce the optical screen, down to the easiness your applications and content can be accessed, which we solved through the combination of zForce and neon, the user interface," declares Mikael Hagman, President and CEO of Neonode.
