Smart flip phone from unknown brand

There are more cell phones manufacturers in this industry than the ones that people are more familiar with. After all, it would be such a pity for the mobile phone realm to be limited to only a couple of famous companies, such as Nokia, HTC, Sony Ericsson, LG and Samsung. There are many more, but their disadvantage is that no one is interested in talking about them.

Solomobi, for example, is a relevant example of an unknown brand. I must confess that I have never heard about it, but now that I ran into a mobile phone concept developed by this company, I realize that they might have something to say in this intriguing battle for supremacy.

A GPS phone based on the Windows Mobile 6.1 software

It seems that more and more mobile phones developed these days are based on the Windows Mobile platform. It’s not just my opinion, I’m sure it’s not, but what would you think if the great majority of the devices that you run into every day ran on the Windows Mobile software? A simple coincidence? I don’t really think so.

Nautiz X5, a Windows Mobile-based rugged cell phone

When you hear about X5, you might think about something else, the mid-sized crossover SUV manufactured by BMW (don’t be surprised if searching the term “X5” on Google the first result will be the vehicle’s page on Wikipedia). But you’re far from the truth, so that you know. Anyway, there’s another word there, Nautiz, which might help not rushing up into conclusions.

Nautiz X5 is a rugged cell phone released by Handheld Europe, being, in fact, a PDA (personal digital assistant). The launch took place at CeBit in Hannover, Germany (3-8 March).

Lenovo i60 and i60s – the latest Chinese mobile phones

We’ve been so very focused on the novelties brought in the market by famous companies like Nokia, Samsung or Sony Ericsson, that we’re tempted to forgot that the world doesn’t go round these manufacturers only.

Here’s an example: Lenovo, “China’s largest and the world’s fourth largest personal computer manufacturer (the latter since its 2005 purchase of IBM’s PC division), after Hewlett-Packard and Dell of the US and Acer of Taiwan” ( Wikipedia), has just introduced two new cell phones. They were released under the names of i60 and i60s and they are aimed at the Chinese market only.

Lenovo i60, for example, comes with the following features: a 3 inch WQVGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels, dual-SIM card support, a 2 megapixel camera, an integrated media player and a microSD card support for expandable memory of no more than 16GB.

Both devices are powered by two processors: the 200MHz main processor and the 600MHz multimedia one.

As I said before, the latest Chinese mobile phones are exclusively aimed at the Chinese market, so you shouldn’t have expectations with respect to it if don’t live in this Asian country. As far as the pricing is concerned, the i60 costs 1150 Chinese Yuan, while the i60s version is more expensive, as it costs 1599.

An eco-friendly cellular phone charger released by Carphone Warehouse

It was yesterday when I told about a brand new concept developed by the GSMA that gathered no more than 17 cell phone makers and operators (the most famous in the whole world) in order to introduce in the market the universal phone chargers.

an-eco-friendly-cellular-phone-charger-released-by-carphone-warehouse-01

This is a very good idea and there’s no doubt about it. But, up until 2012, when the implementation is expected to be finished, there’s another company that has just announced the release of an Eco Charger which is designed to be used with several Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson mobile phone. Besides the great advantage of being compatible with the brands I mentioned above, the charger is also eco-friendly. Aimed at reducing the amount of energy that a mobile phone usually needs in order to fully charge, the Eco Charger “shuts down” as soon as your device has its battery all charged and ready to go, if I may say so.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

Some estimates have been made and they revealed the fact that if British mobile phone users would make use of the Eco Charger, an impressive amount of electricity, measured at approximately 300,000,000 KWh, would be saved every year. And when you think that this amount is the equivalent of £85 million!

This eco-friendly cellular phone charger is expected to start selling starting March 3rd, 2009, in Carphone Warehouse stores, and will retail a price of £22.29.
