Nokia Ovi Store and the Chinese alphabet

I love foreign languages and I have always thought that I’m able to learn whatever language I might want, because there’s something inside me that makes things a whole lot easier. Besides that, I’m a very quick learner when it comes to this area, so it won’t be difficult for me to start the study of a new language. However, with Chinese, for example, I’d like to think the matter twice.

The Chinese alphabet is too damn complicated and I don’t know if I have enough patience in order to descipher it. But Nokia didn’t think of me when decided to launch the Chinese version of the Ovi Store, but of the 1 billion Chinese people out there that would be happy to hear this news.

The application store is available for the moment in five languages, including English, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish, so the Chinese language will be the sixth on the list. The Finnish company said that the new version is expected to become available during this year, so the Chinese customers will be able to download whatever applications they might like directly on their cell phones.

This is a very good idea, as the Chinese Nokia cell phone users has reached the impressive number of 180 million. This means that chances are pretty high for the Chinese Ovi Store to create sensation.

So, Polish customers can go to Music.nokia.pl where they can choose from a wide variety of tracks (there are more than 4.5 million songs) performed by both Polish and international artists. It doesn’t matter if you like a certain type of music, you’ll be able to find whatever you like most.

The music available at the Nokia Music Store is provided by the most important labels from all over the world, independent ones also, and there are some special exclusive offers you can enjoy these days. First of all, you can buy the latest album with Moby’s signature on it or you can download the music single called “When love takes over” by David Guetta. And you can do these things before the music I mentioned earlier becomes widely available.

As for the ways of payment, you can buy the music you like either with credit cards or pre-paid vouchers. If you’re interested in only one track, it will cost you PLN 3.49, while the entire album goes to PLN 34.9.

Ovi Mail for the masses

It’s no surprise for anyone that Nokia has always been very careful as far as the emerging markets are concerned, as the Finnish company has come up with a significant number of devices in the past couple of years that were targeted at these markets and at them only.

In their attempt to bring the email services to everyone, Nokia comes right now with a piece of very good news: Ovi Mail has just been updated. The campaign has a very noble purpose, to bring email in the emerging markets, to the masses. So, it’s somehow an “email for the masses” campaign.

ovi-mail-for-the-masses-01

First of all, you will find support for 3 new languages that weren’t included in Ovi Mail before: Italian, Latin American Spanish and Vietnamese. This way, the number of languages supported by the service is 14, but Nokia ensures everyone that there are plenty more to be released in the future.

There are other features that you might like: the compose space for emails is larger, there is an auto-check functionality when writing new messages, the CC and BCC fields automatically expand whenever you enter multiple recipients.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

As I mentioned earlier, Ovi Mail is now aimed at those people who will find it difficult to access a computer, so they will be able to set the service up on their Nokia devices and use it directly from there. And what’s most important is that people will have many handsets to choose from, because there are more than 40 Nokia cell phones (part of the Series 40) that come equipped with support for Ovi Mail in approximately 170 countries from all over the world.
