Nokia 5610 Unlocked Cell Phone

Nokia XpressMusic Edition has been especially designed for those wanting to turn their usual phone into a real music player, but there also are certain models representing this series that lack some of the needed features. Nokia 5610 unlocked cell phone has a nice look, good camera but it lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a must if you want to be able to plug in your headphones.

To start with, its design is very attractive, with the slider design and rounded corners. We have to admit though that this phone looks rather bulky when you look at it from the sides and when you try to slip it in your pocket. It has a two way switch, one of them leading to the music player. Unlike most of the Nokia XpressMusic edition phones, this one lacks the front buttons for playback control, for some this is an inconvenience as they give you instant access and you don’t have to go through the menu.

On the back is the 3.2 megapixels camera with auto-focus and photos taken do look nice and bright. In the box you will also receive a 2GB microSD card, so you will have enough space to store all your music files, photos and other useful applications. The interface of the Nokia 5610 unlocked seems exactly as the one we see on Nokia 5310. The two-way switch reveals on the left the music player application and on the right the radio. It would have been nice if some of the controls or just one of the switch were customizable, as there aren’t a lot of people nowadays that listen to the radio on their cell phones.

The call sound quality on this Nokia cell phone is loud and clear. You will have to pay attention, as in some areas you might have some problems with the signal. The speakerphone is very loud as well, and you will be able to talk with your friends even if you are far away from the phone. Some other features refer to the possibility of sending and receiving SMS and MMS. You will be able to type without problems as the keypad is easy to touch and it gives a nice tactile feedback.

And these text messaging features are not the only ones available as you can also instantly chat with friends over AOL, Yahoo, and MSN and even send e-mails. As the name suggests, Nokia XpresMusic, this phone should be a real music player gadget, but it lacks something.

You have the usual controls, the playback ones and you can create playlists, but it doesn’t look as good and it isn’t as intuitive as the one you find on Sony Ericsson Walkman phones. You don’t have any button or key for playing instant music, you will have to look into the menu and manually select what to listen. And how can this phone be a real music player without the 3.5mm headphone jack? Everybody has a favorite pair of headphones, and the ones provided by Nokia sometimes aren’t the best choice. You are provided with a headphone adapter, but somehow it’s not the same.

To conclude, the camera feature is better than the music features and pictures. The pictures look very nice especially because of the auto-focus lens.

Nokia 1650

Nokia is a great manufacturer, and among their products you can find all that you want: slide phones, flip phones, touchscreen phones, smartphones and even classic phones. They still produce them and there is a wide area of choice. All of them are reliable, present sturdy construction and a nice design. Nokia 1650 is such a phone. There are multiple colors in which it can be found available, including black, silver, cream, red and so on.

When you see it at first, you might be bothered by the plastic design, but when you get to hold it you will like how simple and classic it is. The phone measures 104mm tall, 44mm wide, 18mm thick and weights 80g. It looks a lot like Nokia 1200 and there aren’t many distinguishing points, expect from its usability. Nokia 1650 has been improved and it presents a better screen quality, better software, data entry and some other interesting and useful features of this kind.

The navigation key is just a single button, but it reacts as your basic four-way toggle and sends you to various shortcuts. There is a rubber area around the number keys, which provides a better tactile feeling and you can type better. The screen measures 35mm tall and 28mm wide and supports 65K colors. It has a pixel resolution of 128x160, and it does the job right for when you want to text messages, dial and so on. It is certainly an improvement over the mono screen of the Nokia 1200. As it is a simple headset, you don’t have any browser to navigate online with. This is a solid phone just for texting and calling, as it includes large fonts when it displays information. It could be the best choice of use for parents or grandparents, who just want to see what’s on the screen and to have simple buttons. Nokia 1650 runs on Series 30 operating system and you can see an improvement when you are scrolling the menu vertically as it shows three choices at once.

The right soft key can be configured in order to get quick access to settings or different software. On top of the phone you will see a LED, you can turn it on and off whenever you like, it’s great for when the power goes out or when you are camping and you need a bit of light. When you purchase this Nokia phone, don’t expect too much, because in the box you will find the charger, stereo headsets and a short and small manual. You can use the headset for hands free calling and that’s about it, because the phone lacks a media player, but you do have FM radio and that is a nice alternative, better than nothing. The battery life is impressive as there are no high-end resolutions and other technologies to eat it up. In talk time it is rated at 8 hours and in stand-by at about 420 hours. You can use it for days and even forget it needs charging. As you won’t be able to listen to music or take photos, there is no memory expansion, the internal one is of only 8MB but it will be enough to store contacts and about 250 messages in the phonebook.

One interesting function though is the “shared contacts” feature. This phone supports five phonebooks in case it is used by different people.

Nokia N78

Nokia N78 has some great features such as a 3.2 megapixels camera, integrated GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. But for all these you should be willing to pay a certain price. As all Nokia Nseries phone, this one provides high-end features and has a special design. It has a candy bar shape, thin and it measures 4.4 inches tall by 1.9 inches wide by 0.6 inch deep with a weight of 3.6 ounces.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
It will definitely fit in your jeans pocket and it’s pretty comfortable if you talk hours on the phone. There are several colors to choose from, such as pearl white, cocoa brown, blue lagoon and that’s all.

The display measures 2.4” QVGA with 16 million colors. The pixel resolution is 320x240, images look bright and sharp, and you will be able to read in direct sunlight as well. One nice feature is the orientation, it will switch from horizontally to portrait whenever you want to take some new pictures or view the ones you already have. Below the display, there is the navigation array in a more bizarre way. You have the standard controls (soft keys, Talk/End buttons, Four-way toggle and a shortcut for the multimedia menu), but the toggle is also touch sensitive, you can scroll through the menu with your finger in various moves ( clockwise or counterclockwise) acting like a scroll menu.

The multimedia key and the toggle are the single ones highlighted; the other buttons on the keypad will be visible when the phone is backlit. It seems pretty cool, especially for the black version, but in some cases the keys turned out to be flush and a tad flat, making typing difficult.

The alphanumeric keypad is also different and maybe a bit too awkward for some. There are not simple keys, but rather lines with no space in between. At first sight they might look too hard to handle, but when you actually start typing they feel rather responsive and not so bad to use. For those accustomed with bigger keys, this is not an option as you will have many misspells. On the right side of the Nokia N78 you will find the volume rocker and the camera shutter. On the left side are the micro USB port, the power connector and the microSD expansion slot. The power button and the 3.5mm headphone jack are on the top and on the back you’ll see the camera with flash.

On both sides there are speakers, so you can imagine the speakerphone will work as a charm. Having GPS enabled, you can use the navigation system, track your location and get directions. Nokia Maps application is already loaded and you can start enjoying it. There are hybrid maps, satellite, and you can send your location to your friends using the MMS or Bluetooth features. If you want advanced navigation features such as turn-by-turn directions you will have to pay extra for the service.

The 3.2 megapixels camera has Carl Zeiss optics, 20x zoom and autofocus. You can choose from five image qualities, color tones and scene modes. You can of course control the white balance, brightness, contrast, light sensitivity and some other settings. If you want to capture videos, they will be in VGA resolution, with their own settings and adjustments.

Nokia N75

Even flip phones can have some great new features, even though this genre seems to be forgotten by much and one good example is Nokia N75. Some of the features include a 2 megapixels camera, Bluetooth and video recording capabilities. It measures 3.7 x 2 x 0.8 inches and weights 4.2 ounces. The good thing is that it has a big external display allowing you to see the basic status information.

It has a resolution of 240x320 pixels and supports 16 million colors. The external screen has a resolution of 128x160 and this one as well is colored and supports 260.000 colors. Below the external screen are media controls, they come in handy whenever you want to listen to music, browse through playlists without having to flip the phone. In order to text messages, browse the web you will need to flip the phone, and once you do that a very tactile and nice keyboard will face you. What is more the 5-way navigation toggle can be set as shortcuts to different functions. The keypad is backlit, so you will have no problems typing in dark conditions. On the back of the phone are the camera lens and the flash. On the left side is the memory card slot and on the right is the volume rocker.

In the address book you can enter as many contacts as you like, you’re limited by the memory you have on-board. Besides, for each contact you can add other phone numbers, e-mail addresses and other contact information. If you pair contacts in group, you can set some ringtones and wallpapers, so you will know each time who is calling. If you don’t feel like lifting the phone to your ear, you can use the built-in speakerphone. You can always choose to customize your phone by adding ringtones, themes, games, wallpapers, screensavers or some handy applications. What is more, Nokia N75 has voice recognition dialing, meaning that you can control the menu functions with your voice.

Because the screen has such a high resolution, you can view web pages in great sizes and you will navigate easily on the web. You can use the default browser and the Mini Map application to establish your direction and always know where you’re heading. And because this phone runs on Symbian you will be able to open and edit certain attachments such as PDFs, documents, spreadsheets and so on.

You can easily organize your files from the computer using the USB mass storage, connect your device and send your favorite music files, photos, or make some room for future ones.
