Nokia N73 Music Edition

Having a fancy name – Nokia N73 Music Edition, the version tested by us has only one difference from the N73's standard, namely the media key sends us directly to the music player. It is very easy to control the player via the joystick or the remote control of the handsfree. The equalizer has 6 presets - default, bass booster, classical, jazz, pop and rock. The shuffle function has not been forgotten by those from Nokia, so that songs can be played in random order.

The sound played by Nokia N73 Music Edition is characterized by clarity, and not only through a headset. N73’s built-in stereo speakers emit a clear and strong sound, so we can listen to music in good condition in small rooms.

nokia-n73-music-edition

The package in which N73 comes delivered has a handsfree, a data cable, a charger and CDs with the software necessary to connect the phone with the computer. The handsfree consists of two parts. The first part includes a remote control, which can adjust the volume, we can stop and start playing, or go to the next song and at its end, it has a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a microphone. Due to the microphone placement in this location, we can change the headphones with our favorite pair, but at the same time, we can use them for making calls. The second part of the headset consists of a very comfortable pair of headphones. The ability to lock the keys on the remote is a plus and does nothing but to highlight the attention to detail given by the Finnish producer.

Nokia N73 Music Edition is distinguished by the key that sends us directly to media player, where we can open the stereo FM radio, the audio files in MP3 and AAC format, respectively the MPEG4 videos.

nokia-n73-music-edition2

It is time to talk about the integrated camera on N73, and I must recognize that I waited for this time since the beginning of the test. The phone comes equipped with two optical sensors, one VGA for video calls and one that has more than 3 Megapixels, perfect for making high quality pictures and videos. If the pictures that can have a maximum resolution of 2048x1536 pixels does not impress, the Carl Zeiss lens present a high interest from the users. The opening of the diaphragm varies between 2.8 and 5.6, very good values (for a cell phone). In addition, the autofocus guarantee success pictures in most situations.

nokia-n73-music-edition3

The menu of the camera is displayed in landscape mode and it can be accessed by simply opening the protective cover. At a first look, we notice in the bottom, the number of pictures that we can make and the quality of these pictures. We can save the pictures in the phone's internal memory or on the memory card. On the right side there are 9 icons arranged vertically, with which we can change the settings of the camera. The icons toolbar can be hidden and it appears only when moving the joystick. If a function is selected, after a few seconds will experience a brief description, which can become annoying and which unfortunately can not be disabled.

Switching between camera mode and the video mode is done very quickly in a very short time through a joystick movement. With the help of the Scene modes function, we can use 8 different presets: Auto, Macro, Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Night Portrait and User Settings. Thanks to the large optical sensor, in some cases we do not need the flash, however at night it can be set on automatic, the choice of using it is up to the phone. A useful feature is the reduction of red eye that appears from the use of the flash.

To not miss any opportunity to appear in a picture, the camera has a self timer can be set to 2, 10 or 20 seconds. Activating the Sequence mode function, we can take pictures to the moving objects. If we are not satisfied with the brightness of the photo, but we do not want to use to flash, we can change the exposure time of the diaphragm from the Exposure compensation function.

nokia-n73-music-edition4

We must remember the white balance and the color tones settings, useful to reduce the white excess, respectively to customize some pictures. N73 comes with something new (compared to Sony Ericsson K800) – the ISO sensitivity control, which can significantly improve the quality of the pictures.

If on the pictures part we are pretty satisfied, when it comes to video recording, things are not so good. First, the resolution at which N73 records a video is definitely not good, because clips with 352 x 288 pixels we can find at cameras that only have 1.3 Megapixel. The pictures can be stored directly on the memory card, but the videos can not be saved on the external memory so it remains only the internal memory, and when this is exhausted, the recording stops. Even if it is not something essential, the digital zoom (during the video recording) is missing.

The whole Nokia N series uses the Symbian operating system integration. On N73, we find the version 9 of Symbian, the S60 interface that reached its third edition. The navigation speed is quite good, the terminal manages to open large files quickly. We can not talk about any new things, so on the main screen are displayed shortcuts for 6 favorite applications, tasks list, and above those we see the clock, analog or digital. Accessing the main menu is done by pressing the classic Symbian key, and we can choose two ways to view the applications: in the form of large icons, or as a list.

The main applications included in the operating system are the file manager, the organizer with extended functions, an image editor and an image viewer, and not least, a document viewer. However, as we are used to, Symbian opens many possibilities for using a terminal, by supporting a vast collection of applications.

nokia-n73-music-edition5

I also noticed the exceptional Web browser that N73 has and the speed with which a site is displayed is really good. One unique thing is the presence of the cursor, which we can control using the joystick, and which can get rid of existing deficits compared with a touchscreen device. The browser retains in the memory of the phone the last visited sites and we have the opportunity to save our favorite sites for viewing them offline. The only drawback noted is that the image can not be displayed in the landscape mode, which would be great considering that we do not have a very large display.

Nokia N73 Music Edition is not a revolutionary phone from any point of view, but it can satisfy a wide range of users, and because of that, we can only say that it is a good choice. If what you are looking for is a mobile that is doing well in all chapters, then N73 is what you need. The 3.2 Megapixel camera, the Symbian operating system, the high speed Internet browsing (because of the 3G support), the clear sound and of course the accommodation with the easy interface places Nokia N73 with a step ahead of the competition. The low operating speed managed to disturb us very much, but the rest of the functions compensate for this, so we can only end in a positive note.

Nokia 6220

Nokia 6220 Classic is a smartphone, it is compact and has plenty of facilities for a good quality image. Its advantages include a Xenon flash, active lens, 30 fps VGA video camera, TV-Out with a quality sound, GPS, HSDPA and Feature Pack 2, which pleasantly decorates the user interface.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

Nokia 6220 Classic is a Symbian phone that takes photography seriously. The Xenon flash, the active lens and the implementing of the best S60 edition interface represent the strengths in the sale. Because the price is reasonable, it is hard to compete with it (about 260 euro or 380 U.S. dollars). From the virtually point of view, no other device with similar qualities can exceed 6220 Classic’s offers. It has a weakness: the lack of WiFi.

The sales package has an unusual shape, because is wide and thin. Still, all the necessary fit in here: the TV-Out and USB cable, the charger, the handsfree, a 1GB card and the manuals. The phone's dimensions are 108x47x15 mm. Those are not impressive dimensions, but are good for a smartphone. This phone fits easily in the pocket, weighing just 90 grams, the only phone, which could beat it is Nokia 6120 Classic, which weighs 89 grams.

nokia-6220

A positive part is that the materials used do not allow fingerprints to stay on the surface of the phone. The 900mAh Li-Ion battery should resist 250 hours in standby mode or three and a half hours in talk time. In reality, the battery resists for 2 days. If you use it only for calling, the battery can resist 4 days.

One thing you can rely on Nokia is the display, on which we enjoy a good picture quality and a good readability in the sunlight. We are pleased with the contrast and the strong brightness. In addition, the phone comes with an ambient light sensor.

With Nokia 6220 Classic, you will not have concerns in terms of sound quality. The phone offers an exceptional quality of the speaker and the sound is very clear during a call. At the vibrations chapter, the phone behaves OK, although it could be better than that. Like any Symbian, it has a built-in voice recognition system, which does a good job, being fully independent from the speaker. It also has an automatic message reader, which will read all your new messages, after you press and hold a little the left selection key. The Symbian on 6220 has an excellent address book, with unlimited virtual capacities. All the internal memory can theoretically be used to save the contacts, but do not believe that this will be necessary. Contacts can be ordered freely by name or surname, and can be searched by gradual typing. If the Log application is accessed, a detailed list of all the communications made in the last 30 days will appear, including messages, calls and data transfers. This period can be shortened as much as you consider necessary to save the internal memory of the phone.

nokia-62202

The message editor does a good job, since this is a smartphone, it supports SMS, MMS, Email, the first ones with intuitive editor that has a counter of characters starting at 160 and that they show you in how many parts the message will be divided. The only negative part is the bad keyboard. Nokia 6220 Classic has an audio message editor that allows you to register or to use a previously recorded clip. The customer can download only titles or a full message. There is also support for attachments, signatures and almost everything you need for your phone to handle almost any requests from the user.

The music player is still a strong point of the applications in Nokia 6220 Classic. It supports MP3, AAC, eAAC + and WMA files and the playlists are managed without mistakes and the files are added by the simple touching of the Refresh Library option. The sorting of songs by artist, album, genre or composer is automatically and the search is done gradually. You can also use a card reader for music transfers via Bluetooth or download them directly to your PC. Nokia 6220 Classic has Bluetooth 2.0 with stereo A2DP support. The audio quality is a pleasant surprise, with one of the best response frequency that we have ever met. I recommend the Real Player because it has an accelerometer, which lets you view the videos vertically or horizontally. When viewing in full-screen mode, the virtual keys are hidden so they cannot ruin the video. The FM radio has a simple and intuitive aspect, being able to automatically store your favorite frequencies.

nokia-62203

The gallery is not impressive, being a Feature Pack2, because it has no 3D view and no reasonable slideshow and all images can be viewed only in a horizontal position. You can zoom up to 8x maximum, but overall, switching between pictures and the zooming is fast enough, without pause moments between the images. Nokia 6220 Classic has a 5-megapixel camera with a maximum resolution of 2592x1944 pixels. It has auto focus, active lens cover, Xenon flash and additional light of AF assist. The only problem is the location of the camera flash, under the lens, which affects the picture’s clarity in low light, and some strange lines appear in the pictures. Another useful feature of the camera is Geotagging, which works with the videos already made. We are generally pleased with the quality of the photos made with this device, the color accuracy and the shadows positioning. For video recording, the camera has a VGA resolution of 30 fps and the quality is satisfactory. The videos can be saved in an MPEG4 format and have automatic or manual adjustment of white balance.

The GPS Navigator is a pleasant surprise, in terms of sensitivity. It works with Nokia Maps, one of the software applications, which offers the most detailed maps. Moreover, it is easy to use and it is free. In Nokia Maps, you can easily customize the travel plan. The high streets, the tunnels or the crossing over the railway can be avoided. The selection of a street can be made in short road or fast road mode. The application can be used for navigation without having a car, or you can simply close the GPS and use the electronic map.

The Web surfing is not overlooked, with an interface that can allow viewing Web pages, both vertically and horizontally at a reasonable speed, thanks to the 3G support with HSDPA.

nokia-62204

Another thing that can be highlighted is the calendar that is very well structured, with many possibilities for customizing the private notes and can be synchronized either via Bluetooth or data cable.

Nokia 6220 Classic also contains a converter for various units of measure, a calculator with two modes: simple and scientific and two games that have raised smiles while testing the phone for you.

nokia-62205

Summarizing the testing of the Nokia 6220 Classic, we can say that it stands out with a very good price, taking into consideration all its advantages, including the assets: image, interface, its high degree of personalization and Feature Pack 2. However, we cannot overlook the lack of the WiFi connection, which is a minus that Nokia 6220 Classic receives.

Nokia N97

Before having the phone, I read many presentations and tests about Nokia N97. The conclusions were very favorable to the Finnish device. Although it was clear that it would be the new high-end product, the critics were quite numerous. What can I say, without starting with the conclusion is that after I have used it like the phone was mine, I found only two major defects.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The construction is one of the strengths of the new Nokia N97. You can observe the manufacturer’s attention for a phone that would be the main landmark in this year. Nokia N97 is a slider, but not a normal slider. By triggering the mechanism, the screen turns at an angle of about 30 degrees.

6a00d8341c2ef853ef01156fcd1044970c-500wi

The front side resembles pretty good with the 5800 XpressMusic. Its touchscreen measures 3.5 inch and occupies most of the phone. The screen quality is already standard, we cannot say that it is extraordinary, but it is not bad. Under the screen, we find only 3 buttons. An oblique button, that opens the main menu and returns the user in the standby screen and two touch sensitive buttons for calls.

nokia-n97

The touch part, including the screen and the two sensitive buttons, is OK. The touching commands are made better than in the 5800 XM. In fact, it very rarely happens to be forced to repeat the command. The touch sensitive buttons dedicated to calls are also very well designed.

The dimensions and its thickness are decent for a device in this segment. Sure, N97 is thicker compared to a regular phone. However, it is thicker than a modern slider should be.

nokia-n97-phone1

The first impression is that the QWERTY keypad buttons are small. By practicing, you can write very fast and the feedback given to the press is very good. The space button is not placed in the center as we expected, but is the third key on the right. Once you get used to the placement of the space button, you will notice that it is very easy to hit it with your right hand thumb.

On the left of the keyboard, lies a 5-way D-Pad. It provides an alternative to the touchscreen, but an incomplete alternative. From the keyboard and the D-Pad, you can do about all the operations that you could do from the touch screen, except for exiting a menu or an application. Perhaps a small back button would have been a great idea.

On the sides of the phone, in addition to the usual buttons and inputs (volume, camera, microUSB, audio and the on / off power button), N97 has a locking mechanism that locks / unlocks the screen and keys. It does not create difficulties when using it, except for the fact that locking and unlocking the device, is being affected by a bug that is felt from time to time. The screen does not turn on when you unlock it. The same happens when blocking and the screen does not shut down sometimes.

nokia-n972

Another plus is gained for the simple and effective mechanism, which is protecting the camera. It is simply a cap, which moves to the right / left side, to cover / uncover the lens. We should mention that moving cap to the right leads to the unblocking of the phone and the starting of the camera application. On one side, we have the facility of taking pictures fast. On the other side, you can accidentally remove the cap when you keep it in your pocket, leading to the unblocking of the phone.

Immature is the word that describes the version 9.4 of Symbian S60 interface 5 the best. It is actually the same version that XM 5800 had. Normally, Nokia would have to repair the mistakes of the first touchscreen Symbian version. Unfortunately, they did not do it, and on Nokia N97, you encounter the same problem as on 5800 XM. Some commands are accepted on a single press, while other commands are accepted only after the second press. The first one has a selection role. The selection is also made for a purpose, for example, when there is a set of options that are available only by selecting an item. On Symbian S60 9.4 it is useless to press twice. For example, in the configuration menu, to enter a particular section, you must first select it, and then you enter it, after you press the second time. Let someone from Nokia explain us, what is the logic of this approach. If you get used to this problem you can live together with the operating system in peace. The screen takes orders promptly and the system works very well.

The widgets disease struck Nokia now too. Already more and more manufacturers adopt the widgets fashion on the standby screen mode. For those who do not know, widgets are mini-applications that can be configured and rearranged after your own taste. N97 provides you, directly in the standby screen, with multiple applications as widgets: clock, date, active profile, weather conditions, schedule, one or two lists of favorite applications and one or two lists of favorite contacts, e-mail, etc. Most of them have their own set of options. The number of available widgets for Nokia N97 is quite small. More can be downloaded online from the Nokia application shop. Some widgets, such as the weather and the one for Facebook, require an Internet connection.

nokia-n973

If you want to create and edit documents, you will have to pay for an upgraded version of the Office Suite. If not, the programs from the Office Suite will be used only for opening documents, without any possibility of creating or editing documents. It is the second largest objection, after the immaturity of the operating system that I have to make. Seriously, at how expensive the phone is, is it normal to pay for the Office Suite too?

Nokia N97 has a 5 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, autofocus and every little option that is already basic. The application does not come with new things, but with the classic set of settings: flash, timer, color tone, white balance, exposure, contrast, etc. The quality of the photos is good, though it does not impress. The details are good, but the color tone on the auto mode is not exactly the most correct one.

Nokia N97 has a Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery that offers a good autonomy. With 2 hours of talk time, about 2 hours of web browsing (on HSDPA), dozens of pictures taken and transfers via Bluetooth, N97 lasted for about 3 days.

It is normal to have high expectations from a phone that comes from the most important producer. Nokia N97 is trying to rise up to our expectations and to its high price. In some ways, it even succeeds – the design, the QWERTY keyboard, etc.

Unfortunately, the operating system bugs pull down Nokia N97. The S60 OS for touchscreen needs fast improvements. If in the first phone equipped with this version, the problems were understandable, at N97 we cannot forgive them. You must remember that if you want a full Office Suite, in addition to the device's high price, you have to pay extra money to upgrade it.

Its plusses are :
+ Its construction;
+ The touchscreen;
+ The QWERTY keyboard;
+ The GPS, the Wi-Fi, and the HSDPA;
+ The 32 GB internal storage;
+ The MicroSD slot for up to 16 GB of external memory;
+ The camera;

Its minuses are
- The immature operating system;
- The Office Suite costs extra money, if you want to be able to edit the documents;
- The lock / unlock function does not always work correctly;
- Its price should be a smaller one.

Nokia E75 Review

Nokia E75 was announced by the Finnish company in February and it was officially launched in April. As we will see in this Nokia E75 review, the main features of the phone are the Symbian OS and the fact that the phone is optimized for messaging, with a full QWERTY keyboard.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

Nokia E75 measures 111.8 x 50 x 14.4 mm and weighs about 140 grams. The terminal is a slider that (when it is closed) looks like a simple candybar. The front is occupied by the screen, the D-pad and the standard alphanumeric keypad. Nokia E75's screen has 2.4 inches, 16 million colors and a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels.

nokia-e75-review

Above the display, we see the Nokia logo, the phone speaker, the secondary camera for videoconferencing and the light sensor. Under the screen, we find the D-pad, which is slightly more developed, composed of eight buttons, plus the navigation key. The first two are dedicated buttons for the menus on the screen - Menu (on the left) and contacts (on the right). Under them, there are four buttons for calling, calendar, e-mail and ending the calls. Between those buttons, the phone has the four directions joystick.

Under the D-pad we find the alphanumeric keypad. The buttons of the keypad are quite small and because they are glued to each other, some users will encounter problems. The last row of keys will be most difficult to access and use, especially as the phone is quite heavy. Neither the D-pad keys are not exactly easy to use. The user will always push another button than the one he wants, and the lock or unlock action will be quite annoying because it will be hard enough to hit the desired key.

nokia-e75-review2

The left side has two slots, one for attaching the USB cable and the second slot if used by the 4 GB microSD card that comes in the package. The right side is filled with the volume buttons (and between them there is a key to activate the voice commands), and under them, a dedicated camera button. The upper part of the terminal presents the 3.5 mm audio jack slot and the bottom side has only the slot used to connect the charger.

The back side is covered by a metal cap that hides the battery. Above it, we find the objective of a 3.2 MP camera with LED flash and a mirror for self portraits. Under the lid we find the standard Lithium-Polymer battery with a capacity of 1000 mAh, which in standby withstands up to 280 hours and up to five hours of talk time.

nokia-e75-review3

The processor of Nokia E75 is an ARM 11 that has 369 MHz, the same processor that we find on Nokia E71. This model runs the Symbian OS 9.2, Series 60, version 3.2. In standby, the E75's screen displays the connectivity, the mobile phone operator, the time, and a band filled with different shortcuts: messaging, Internet, music player, photo gallery, alarm clock and Switch that will change the icons of the shortcuts. Unfortunately, their customization is not possible, because SWITCH comes with its own shortcuts. Under this band, we have an e-mail setup menu and the scan mode of W-LAN networks - that means finding hot-spots (Wi-Fi), but these could change too (depending on the SWITCH selection).

At the bottom of the screen, we find two menus, the main menu and its own contacts book. The menu of Nokia E75 is positioned in the matrix form of 4 x 3 icons.

When writing an e-mail or a short message (SMS), the user can choose to do so with the full QWERTY keyboard or the alphanumeric keyboard. Although the QWERTY buttons are flat, they are quite large and even people with thick fingers may use them easily. On the other hand, the alphanumeric keypad will not please everyone.

nokia-e75-review4

Although Nokia E75 is not a dedicated music phone, the music player is doing quite well. It supports audio formats like MP3, AAC and WMA and in the video category, the supported formats are MP4/MPEG4. The terminal comes with Real Player and Flash Player preinstalled.

Nokia E75 has 85 MB internal memory, but the phone comes with a 4GB microSD card in the package and the memory upgrade can go up to 16 GB. The sound played by the speaker of the phone does not disappoint. However, it is indicated to keep it at a medium volume, otherwise you will be surprised to have a song accompanied by an unpleasantly noise. The same thing can be said about the headphones from the package, which are quite uncomfortable for smaller ears. The sound is good, but also kept at a medium level. If you are sick of the music on your phone, you can choose to watch a movie, the terminal having a screen quite big for this. To use the radio, you will have to attach headphones to the phone, because as you know already, they serve as an antenna.

nokia-e75-review5

Nokia E75 comes with a 3.2 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. The flash of your phone will automatically be elected in case that the daylight is weak. There is the possibility of totally disabling it. The photos captured by the phone have a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels.

Unfortunately, the photos do not have a very good quality. Also, the images captured in closed spaces will have a blue effect. Instead, in good light, the quality of the photos will be better. However, Nokia E75 can record videos at VGA resolutions with 15 fps, and the movies are saved in the MP4 format.

We learned from this Nokia E75 review, that this phone model is a dedicated business phone and Nokia E75 fulfills his duties perfectly. It gets points for the QWERTY keyboard that is easy to use and does not disappoint even at the speed of navigation, both through its own menu and on the Internet. The Office suite and the connectivity are other strengths of the phone. It is quite compact, even if it has a QWERTY slide keyboard and the screen is generous.

Nokia E63 Accessories

Announced in November 2008, Nokia E63 arrived on the shelves just in time for Christmas holidays in December 2008. The smartphone’s price is small enough compared with what it can do. Nokia E63 is available in three colors: Ultramarine Blue, Ruby Red and Black.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

Compared with E71, Nokia E63 is slightly thicker, and the material used for it is a normal plastic, compared with the more resistant stainless steel used in the production of E71. However, the Nokia E63 remains a well-built, ergonomic phone, which can be carried easily in almost any pocket. The phone measures 113 x 59 x 13 mm and weighs 126g (including the battery), which makes it easy to confuse with E71.

nokia-e63-accessories

The 2.4-inch screen occupies the superior part of the phone, while the bottom includes a full QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard structure is almost identical to the one found on E71, with some minor exceptions. The SPACE key has been reduced in size, to make room for the other two: Ctrl key and the bracket key. Moreover, the SPACE key has acquired a 'flashlight' function, which can be easily identified by the icon, which appears on the key. This feature can be activated by holding the key, so the LED flash will be activated and will be used as flashlight. Thanks to the QWERTY keyboard, writing messages is easy, but this depends also on the size of the fingers. For those with larger fingers, the period of adaptation will probably be longer. The keys respond easily to commands, so I recommend users to keep the keypad locked when the phone is not in use. A small light sensor was placed at the top of the screen near the loudspeaker. On the left side of the smartphone, there are two ports: a microUSB port and a microSD card slot. The charger slot was placed on the bottom of the device, while a 3.5 mm audi jack port and a speaker, can be found on the top side of the phone.

nokia-e63-accessories2

The 2.4-inch screen has become standard for most E series devices, so no wonder that E63 includes such a display. It displays 16 million colors and a maximum resolution of 320x240 pixels. In addition, it keeps the same standard high quality, which includes an excellent readability even when the phone is exposed to bright light.

The 2-megapixel camera includes only the minimum basic settings and functions such as self-portrait mirror and LED flash. The camera interface does not introduce anything new and keeps a simplicity specific to Nokia. However, even if the camera can be considered as one of the weaknesses of the phone, we must keep in mind, however, that this smarpthone’s target is the business area.

nokia-e63-accessories3

Nokia E63 runs the Symbian OS 9.2, S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 interface, but includes some elements from Feature Pack 2. This pack offers a number of improvements and adds new features such as multiple alarm, vCalendar 2.0, support for 3D graphics hardware acceleration and rotation of the image display function (not applicable to this phone).

Nokia E63 is a quad-band GSM phone (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900), which is compatible with UMTS (384 kbps). The phone also offers many choices of connectivity for data transfers: GPRS Class 32 (100 kbps), EDGE Class 32 (296 kbps), High-Speed Circuit-Switched Data (57.6 kbps) and Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g. Tested on the EDGE and 3G network connectivity, the phone was a little above the average results.

The WLAN tutorial helps in finding and setting the WLAN connection. If you want to connect to the Internet, you must first define an access point (EDGE, WLAN or 3G). This can be made from the main menu - Tools - Settings - Connection - Access points. Here you can define what access point you want to be used when an Internet connection is required (Main Menu - Home Network - Settings). Other features include Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support and a miniUSB port for synchronizations with the PC (the phone cannot be charged using the PC). When you connect the USB cable, you can choose from four types of data transfer: PC Suite, Mass Storage, Media Transfer, PC connection to the Internet. All four types of data transfer are intuitive and easy to use.

nokia-e63-accessories4

Sending messages is easy, because the phone offers a complete messaging solution, meaning that it supports all types of messages available. Moreover, given the full QWERTY keyboard, editing text documents or SMS is a real pleasure. The phone includes no less than four editors of messages, one for each type: SMS, MMS, audio message and e-mail. The messaging client is compatible with the standard POP3, SMTP, and IMAP4 protocols and supports more than one e-mail account. In addition, you can download attachments.

Nokia E63 has a very good GSM signal reception. The 3G signal is also at maximum, but increases the battery consumption, so I do not recommend switching to the 3G phone network, unless you intend to use your phone to surf the Internet and perform data transfers. The sound is above average in terms of quality, at both ends, and pretty high. The intensity of the alert vibrations is average, so losing calls is not possible when the phone is set to the silent profile.

Nokia E63 includes the same type of processor, like its predecessor E71 - ARM11 with 369 Mhz. Even if Nokia E63 is a middle class mobile, it seems that Nokia decided that the processor is a decisive part and kept the same equipment level as in a premium phone. The smartphone operates at optimal parameters, even when they are running multiple applications simultaneously.

The phone includes 120 MB of internal memory for storage, 128 MB SDRAM and 256 MB of NAND memory. Actually, only 71 MB are available to users. However, the storage space can be extended up to 8GB using a microSD memory card. It would have been nice if we found a microSD card in the box next to the other Nokia E63 accessories.

nokia-e63-accessories5

Nokia E63 is a business phone, so the multimedia features do not rise up to very high standards. The music player and the radio functions are present, but do not expect a higher quality than average. The only thing worth mentioning is that Nokia E63 benefits from a 3.5 mm audio jack slot that allows users to use headphones much better than those found in the package box. The music player interface looks well and supports file types like: AAC, AAC +, eAAC +, MP3 and WAV. Different functions can make some sound improvements: equalizer (Bass booster, Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock and default), balance, loudness effect and stereo function. The phone can sort songs by artist, genre, and album.

The battery with a capacity of 1500 mAh Li-Polymer (BP-4L), resists up to 432 hours in standby mode and up to 11 hours of talk time. This battery’s lifetime is even better than on the previous E71 model, but this is because the Nokia E63 does not include energy consumption functions.

I was pleasantly surprised by the smartphone, which has as target the people who seek a cheap business class phone. If the fact that it has no GPS receiver is not a big problem, and you see nothing wrong in the low quality camera, this phone could be a more convenient option than E71 in terms of price / quality. I highly recommend this model for all the fans of the E business series, which cannot afford the excellent, but expensive E71model.

In the package box, we found the following Nokia E63 accessories:

The phone - Nokia E63
Nokia Battery BP-4L
Nokia Charger AC-8
Nokia WH-102 headphones
