Rumors say Palm's new version of their PalmOS will be based on a Linux Kernel. But don't worry, it seems that the new OS will still maintain some compatibility with Palm OS 5 Garnet (the latest version). This new Linux Kernel based OS will be Palm's homegrown OS and it will not be licensed to other manufacturers. The recent agreement between Palm and Opera make us think Opera will be the default browser.
Palm devices based on the Linux Kernel should appear before the end of the year, but some PalmOS 5 devices will still be introduced later this year.

If you can’t wait to ditch your Palm Treo for an Apple iPhone when it comes out in June of this year, you’ll be happy to know that SimToGo has developed a new skin for your Treo that makes the OS look like an iPhone.
Your phone still won’t have a multitouch screen, widescreen movies, or iTunes, but at least it will look snazzy with its new iPhony skin! Best of all, it’s not $499 or $599, it’s free!
