You bragged about being the most fanatic picturegoer of them all, so don’t hesitate when I tell you to give me at least two or three names of the cast of “Love actually”. Especially because it’s like a speed test, as I told you to think fast. You say you can’t remember, I say you shouldn’t boast anymore about being such a connoisseur.

Anyway, the reason I asked for those names has nothing to do with the movie. It just came to me because I accidentally ran into the Pantech Love Actually cell phone, a touch sensitive device that has just been unveiled. Also known under the name of IM-U460K, the phone will be sold under the name I mentioned earlier, which is a little bit peculiar, you have to admit.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

As you can see for yourselves, the phone has a very stylish design and you’ll have some brightly colored changeable back plates to enjoy.

As for the features, the Pantech Love Actually comes with a 3 inch WQVGA display, GSM and HSDPA connectivity, a 3 megapixel camera, a secondary camera for video calls, DMB (also known as Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), media player, an internal memory of 256 MB and a microSDHC card slot.

The phone measures 104.9 x 54.6 x 12 millimeters and is expected to become available via KTF, in a wide variety of colors. The price is still unknown. Anyway, up until the moment you’ll have the chance to buy a handset of your own, enjoy this video preview:

Pantech has just announced the release of its new Wi-Fi cell phone, the WPP-8000, which is presented to the large public as “its first Wi-Fi enabled phone”. This is kind of late for the company, as Wi-Fi cell phones are all over these days. The phone is aimed at the South Korean market, where it was released via LG Dacom, which is one of the most important providers in the country, when it comes to high-speed Internet, voice and data services.

However, the Pantech WPP-8000 comes equipped with a couple of features that help it stand out from the crowd. First of all, the handset is based on the myLG070 service, so users can access the Web whenever they want to via a wireless LAN connection that is called iHub. In addition, they can be informed on the latest news, stock or weather and they won’t be extra charged for this.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

Among the features you can find on board, there are the Caller ID and the text massaging capabilities. There aren’t many details available at the moment about the features of this Wi-Fi cell phone and you’ll have to content yourself with the picture above. As you can easily see, the display is not the most impressive that you’ve had the chance to see in the past, but this shouldn’t be a problem, after all.

Well now, we’ll just have to wait and see whether the WPP-8000 is successful or not. Only then Pantech will know if the decision to launch a Wi-Fi phone when the market is actually saturated was a good one or not.

Well, if you were, there is no reason for you to continue pining for the South Korean manufacturer’s mobile phones, because there’s a brand new device waiting in line to become available in the market.

And if you didn’t smell the imminence of the handset, this means you’re immune to love and to the powerful influence of a well-known character, Cupid, the god of erotic love and beauty in the Roman mythology, whom you must surely remember from all sorts of pictures that show him shooting his bow.

You must think I’m crazy and wondering why in earth I’m talking about Cupid, when the question refers to Pantech cell phones. Patience, my friends, and you’ll find the answer. More than that, you’ll see there’s a reason for me to talk wildly.

The company has just announced a new device, the Pantech Cupid IM-S390, which is a CDMA cell phone with a very light design, but a little bit lacunose, as far as the features are concerned. Even if it wouldn’t cross your mind in a million years, the phone is equipped with an integrated terrestrial DMB TV tuner, so the tiny display gives you the possibility to watch your favorite TV shows.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The features of the Pantech Cupid IM-S390 include: microSD card support for expandable memory, 12.5 millimeters thickness, an electronic dictionary and an integrated subway maps. The cell phone will be available in different color combinations, including white with pink, white with lime and black.

The price that Pantech announced for this cell phone is approximately 40 won, so you must not be surprised if the Cupid IM-S390 will become a hit abreast of the ladies. The new cell phone is expected to become available in a couple of days, no more than five.

Pantech USA, a subsidiary of Pantech Group, which is a very important Korean mobile manufacturer, announced that a brand new mobile phone is already available. Launched under the name of C630, the device is expected to start selling on 12 December, meaning today, being offered by the US carrier AT&T.

While other companies decided to reveal all sorts of expensive high-end cell phones right before Christmas, Pantech USA thinks that the best way for them to gain more and more customers is to give them what they most want: a well-equipped handset sold with an affordable price.

The candybar features lots of multimedia functionalities, allowing its users to choose from GPS, music, chat and video. I’m sure you all know that big things can always come in small packages, so the C360’s most popular features can easily be managed, including text, IM multimedia messaging, GPS navigation and music. As far as the navigation is concerned, you’ll have the chance to use advanced functions with aGPS for turn-by-turn directions, using an AT&T service, the Navigator. When it comes to entertainment, the C630 is compatible with a variety of digital music formats.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The mobile phone is made from mixed materials, being provided with a rubberized back-panel, with a mirrored screen, not to mention the joystick pad. It measures 4 x 1 (length x depth) and features the following specifications: 3G support, the aGPS that I was earlier talking about and that allows the use of AT&T Navigator, microSD card support, 1.3 megapixel camera and two other AT&T multimedia services, Video Share and Mobile Music.

“The C630 is a little phone with big functionality”, said Patrick Beattie, vice president of sales and marketing at Pantech Wireless, Inc. “We packed a lot in this device while working to keep the price affordable. Pantech believes that advanced functionality can be available for all levels of users”.

The Pantech C630 was said to become available starting today on AT&T’s official website, being sold for $39.99, with a two-year contract and mail-in rebate. Even if this new mobile phone that Pantech USA is offering all of you doesn’t come with a QWERTY keyboard, you might still be impressed by its affordable price.

Here’s a great news for those of you out there who own a Pantech C810 Duo dual slider with AT&T carrier: you can now download an upgrade including Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard operating system. But you should understand one thing very well: this upgrade is for AT&T customers only. If AT&T isn’t your service provider, do not update your product with this software! More than that, after updating the Pantech Duo with this software, the product will only work with AT&T service.

The company warns users to back-up all of their Duo handsets with their AT&T Mobile Backup available on their official website, because the update will erase all data from their devices. So you are asked to ensure that all critical information has been backed up before applying this update. All user data (including contacts, photos, ringtones and videos) can be backed up by using Microsoft Sync which was included in your installation disc.

Among the list of exciting upgrades to the user experience for both business and consumer customers, Pantech Duo owners now enjoy a more efficient use of key phone features. The improvements include: customizable home screen, threaded text messaging, Web, Support for Enterprise Device Management and Security, productivity, Bluetooth, Mobile Banking, the addition of Windows Mobile 6.1.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

Sliding panels streamline access to frequently-used phone features, allowing for picture and video viewing, listening to music and coordinating calendar appointments. On the other hand, SMS text messages are threaded together into a single conversation, so users can view the entire conversation as they type. As far as the Web is concerned, zoom in and out capabilities provide enhanced Web page viewing. Advanced enterprise device management support features sophisticated security settings and simplified access for IT managers. You also have the ability to cut, copy and paste text, auto-fill options for email addresses, select multiple messages in bulk, you can also easily manipulate contacts, calendar and tasks features. When it comes to the Bluetooth, there is a seamless pairing of headset to device without pairing code. With Mobile Banking, you can perform secure banking transactions with many of the nation’s largest banks directly from your handset.

But probably the most important improvement is the addition of Windows Mobile 6.1 to the Pantech duo, “which is another example of Pantech’s commitment to improving the mobile experience for our customers”, said Sandy Gomo, Director of Product Management, Pantech Wireless, Inc. “Availability of this update online is part of Pantech’s strategy to protect the investment of loyal Pantech product users. Out continued relationship with AT&T and Microsoft brings customers fun and productive tools to enhance their everyday lives”.

This updater will function correctly under Windows 2000 & XP. Other requirements include: (1) USB port, fully charged battery for your phone (standard or extended) and USB data cable which was included in the retail box.

The new Pantech duo is now available in the US exclusively from AT&T for as low as $79.99. For those who already have their devices, they can download and have more information about the new update on pantechusa.com.

Pantech, South Korea’s third largest handset manufacturer, is doing a very good job, not only in its country, but also on the US market, especially since the company has recently announced two new phones ( the Matrix and the Slate) for AT&T, the most important provider of both local and long distance telephone services, DSL Internet access and wireless service in the United States.

The Pantech Design Community, comprised of 20 college students, has come up with four new concept phones that Pantech might someday build. You must agree with the fact that some companies are prolific at this time of year, and Pantech surely does not make an exception!

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The first concept is called Coralliform Water and it was obviously inspired by the sea and the underwater life. Being a slider, the phone somehow looks like a budding flower when it’s closed. There were no specifications given, but the device seems to have a touchscreen display and a camera. Even if this phone looks like being targeted at the fairer sex and like fitting better in a lady’s hands, I bet that gentlemen won’t mind having one.

<-125x125 Button - left->
The Easter Moai had been made with a view to articulate the “multifaceted nature of human beings”. It features a “wave” touchscreen LCD, a touch key, a dome key and lots of other keys on its sides, which are put there in order to increase the phone’s functionality. The thing that really looks different is the included support that fits the phone perfectly.

Recy_Q is a full touchscreen phone that features a sliding QWERTY keyboard and touch keys which are embedded in the metal frame, for an easier control over its User Interface. Recyclable material should be used for the case and the keypad. I’m not sure about how those tiny “wings” of the phone would feel in hand, but on the whole the device looks good.

Softy Lofty is the fourth new Pantech concept, and maybe the wackiest of them all, because we just can’t figure out where the display of this phone is. All we’re said about this strange design is that it’s supposed to “offer as much visual and emotional comfort as possible” and to emit a vague light when re-charged.

To conclude, all the four Pantech phones look really inviting, but it would really be interesting to see those concepts turning into reality.

Yesterday Pantech and AT&T announced the Korean company’s latest flip phone, C610, which will become one of AT&T’s best equipped budget phones. Usually, thinking about high-end feature phones, Pantech doesn’t normally come to mind, because most Pantech handsets are of the lower-end variety. Nevertheless, the new C610 it’s a bit of a surprise. If at first glance, you can easily mistake it for some other flip phone, underneath its outer outfit there’s a fine device, a high-speed multimedia handset, equipped with advanced technologies such as HSDPA and GPS.

At the present, every phone manufacturer is caught in the middle of the fight for the next best smartphone. In the meantime, AT&T decided to improve the lower end of its phone offerings, so it introduced the Pantech C610, a phone boasting a wide variety of features that one can usually find on expensive phones.

The minimalist phone has a vibrant red hue and shiny chrome accents, and therefore a pretty minimalist design. It measures 3.67 x 1.81 x 0.72 and weighs 3.25 ounces, so it feels very lightweight when carrying it in your pocket. On the front, you can easily see the camera lens, placed at the top, and the 1-inch external display which supports 65,000 colors, which can be used for photo caller ID. The camera can’t be activated when the phone is closed, so if you’re the narcissist type of guy, you’ll have to open the phone for self-portraits.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

When you open the phone, you’ll find a 2.0-inches display with a resolution of 1280 x 1040 pixels. There is an option for you to adjust the backlight timer, the brightness, the font style (Gothic or Free style), the color theme and the menu type (List or Grid), but one thing that can’t be modified is the font size.

The navigation array is quite annoying because the keys are completely flat and certain buttons (take the Clear key or the arrow keys for examples) are a little too small. A great disadvantage is the fact that the keys are not very visible, as there’s no delineation, while the keypad itself is crowded. And you know how irritating it is for one to not be able to properly dial and text.

The Pantech C610 has a 500-entry address book and for each entry there is enough room for five different numbers, two e-mail addresses, a Web URL, a street address and a memo. If you want, you can arrange contacts by groups and pair them with a photo or one of the 10 polyphonic ring tones especially designed for caller ID. In addition, the phone features text and multimedia messaging, a vibrate mode, a speakerphone, a calendar, an alarm clock, a notepad, a calculator, a tasks list, a stop watch and a unit converter. But these are usual features for phones nowadays, so you might get excited about the voice-command support, the voice-memo recording, a mobile Web browser, e-mail support (for Yahoo, AOL, AIM, Windows Live, AT&T Yahoo and BellSouth accounts), instant messaging (AIM, Windows Live and Yahoo Messenger), stereo Bluetooth and GPS support (via AT&T Navigator).

The most important feature of the Pantech C610 is that it has 3G/HSDPA, which facilitates the the access to AT&T’s 3G services. Therefore, you can enjoy AT&T Mobile Music (letting you stream and download music from Napster and eMusic), AT&T streaming video and AT&T Video Share. The AT&T Video Share is a live video-sharing service that lets you stream one-way video to another Video Share-compatible phone.

As far as the music is concerned, the C610 has an integrated music player and supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, MMF and WAV audio formats. The phone comes with an internal memory of only 12MB, but there’s a microSD-card slot to additional storage (of up to 4GB).

The pictures can be taken by the 1.3 megapixel camera in six different resolutions (1280 x 1024, 1024 x 768, 640 x 480, 320 x 240, 176 x 220 and 176 x 144); there are four white-balance settings, four color effects and three quality settings, while other camera features consist of a self-timer, a timer-sound toggle and a shutter-sound toggle.

The Pantech C610 provides of up to 3 hours of talk time and up to 10 days of standby time and it’s immediately available from AT&T for $49 with a two-year contract, making it one of the most affordable 3G phones around.

Looking for a simple cell phone? After reading its presentation I can describe it as a mid-level mobile phone with features dedicated to those of you that don’t need complicated technology in the pocket. The clamshell here is available in Japan only and can be used by anyone who hasn’t much experience with these handsets. Included in this category are children who need just to call their parents from school and older people who will rely on an emergency companion.
Features strengthening this idea are the font size, lamp, keys, strap hole, icons on the screen, incoming communication tones, ringtones and the clock.

Maybe you are not in the mood to type or you have some problems with the finger. In such cases, Pantech’s new simple cell phones will read for you all the information need, while another helpful tool for using these handsets is the pre-loaded manual.
To make the use even simpler, Pantech added a special capability meant to indicate the next key you have to press by lighting it on the keypad using the backlight technology and light manipulation. For example, after you took a picture the handset lights up the Ok button.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

Pantech-au W62PT is the fifth cell phone released by KDDI with smart functionalities as well as a stylish look, coming in pink, gold and silver colors.
Its 3G capability enables high-speed data rates thanks to the CDMA 1X EV-DO WIN technology.
Using a complex frequency calibration technology, the Simple Phone adjusts the incoming sound for people with hearing disabilities.

The phone’s menu has 2 modes, a simple mode and a common mode with a Simple Manual featuring clear illustrations and easy to read text descriptions.
For emergencies or just as a shortcut to your needs, you can assign specific numbers to 3 hotkeys, while the GPS Connected Security Buzzer will send emails automatically to specific contacts set by you previously.

Pantech C600 is a new 3G cell phone launched by Pantech in Mexico at TELCEL communication operator. It is a flip phone model optimized for multimedia support with MP3 music player, video player, video calling, Bluetooth wireless transfers, and expandable memory.
It comes in Blue and Red, in combination with white and black, being the first Pantech’s 3G model available in Mexico. These colors were chosen after surveying Mexicans about their tastes.

“Pantech Group has surveyed the taste and life style of local customers and reflected them in planning and development of the product. C600 is designed as primary colors to meet the needs fully in the Mexican market where demand of 3G is increasing. Pantech Group is making effort to take leadership in Mexican 3G handset market,” declared Pantech.

The previous model released at the end of 2007 was promoted using the image of the popular RBD group, and was a success. The C510 is a music phone available in 4 colors, and was the base model for the C600 3G cell phone.

The latest cell phone works on UMTS dual-band 850/1900MHz frequencies, supporting quad-band GPRS/EDGE, and measures 90.3 x 44.8 x 18.7 mm at 77.4 grams. It features a main 1.8-inch TFT display of 260K colors and with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels, while the external CSTN display of 96 x96 pixels is a 65K-color.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The built-in camera is a 1.3MP and the one for video calls is a 0.3MP VGA type, while the handset also comes with support for MP3, AAC and AAC+ audio formats, MPEG4/H.263/WMA/WMV videos, allowing the user to add more storage via a microSD card.
It has stereo Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

Pantech C600 is an entry-level cell phone to be used for basic applications, and integrates a 930mAh Li-Ion battery lasting up to 3 hours of talk time and 250 hours of standby. The built-in camera has LED flash and self-timer for taking pictures on the go, stored in the 25MB internal memory. Mexicans can use it to access the Internet via WAP, set picture IDs and specific ringtones for the 800 contacts in the phone book, send emails, play with applications like alarm, calendar, calculator, stopwatch, world clock, converter and memo, or talk on the phone using the speaker capability.
