Samsung Delve Reviews

Samsung Delve offers a sleek and attractive design, easy to use interface and good call and photo qualities. But because the phone lacks some important features, we can’t really consider the best choice you can make. There is no Wi-Fi and no accelerometer, which is definitely a minus for the device.

If you take a look at Samsung Instinct as well, you will see a lot of similarities among these two mobile phones. These refer mostly to size and the color scheme used. Even so, Samsung Delve is less heavy, weighting 3.63 ounces. It provides a comfortable feel in your hands, has rounded corners and use the silver and black color scheme, which delivers the classic look. Below the display are three physical controls, a feature Instinct lacks.

The display has 3”, supports 262.000 colors and has a pixel resolution of 240x400. You can make some adjustments regarding brightness, the intensity of the vibrate feedback and the backlighting time. You can use the stylus to navigate on the phone, but unfortunately you don’t have anywhere to place it. You can get some cases or pouches, so you can carry along the phone with the stylus. As most of the Samsung mobile phones, this one uses the TouchWiz interface as well. You have a list with icons and on top of the screen is a collapse bar with shortcuts for the Web browser, music player, messaging and Bluetooth. On the bottom there is another shortcut bar featuring touch controls for contacts, phone dialer, messaging menu and for the main menu. They are all usable and you will be using most of these shortcuts. If you are hoping to change their order or assign something different, unfortunately this option is unavailable.

The virtual keyboard has separate keyboard for numbers, letters and symbols. In essence, the keyboard is responsive, but in case you need spaced keys to type comfortably, you will find it hard to use. If you don’t feel comfortable with the keyboard, you can use the handwriting recognition tool and the standard alphanumeric keyboard to type your messages. The reason why the keyboard looks cramped is because of the lack of the accelerometer, so you can’t switch the phone to landscape mode, a real unfortunate event. Moreover, on top of the phone is the power control, which doubles as a locking switch for the display and the 3.5mm headset jack. On the left side is the volume rocker and finally, on the right, you can find the camera shutter key, the voice-dialing button and the microSD card slot. The camera on the back lacks a flash.

To conclude, in the phone book you can add up to 500 contacts and for each contact you have room for additional phone numbers and other contact information, such as addresses, e-mails and so on. You can group your callers and assign those photos and polyphonic ringtones. The music player on Samsung Delve is simple and with just the basic characteristics. You can make some playlists, have repeat and shuffle modes and choose from six equalizer settings. Using the USB cable or the memory card you can have more music files in your phone. The 2 megapixels camera on-board takes reasonable photos and with some extra settings and features to choose from: quality settings, self-timer, auto-focus, white balance, color effects, shutter sounds, multishot and 24 frames to choose from.

Samsung Impression Holster

Samsung Impression is a good choice for users that can’t give up the physical keyboard, but they still want to enjoy the features of a touch screen phone. This is because the phone has them both, the touch screen is just brilliant and the QWERTY keyboard is spacious and very useful for typing long messages.

Call quality and multimedia performance are among the strong features of this phone. No phone is perfect, but you have to like yours with its positive and negative points as well. We mentioned the positive features, so we should note the negative as well: the proprietary headset jack, lack of the flash on the camera and the keyboard shortcuts which are not very plenty and useful. But because we are talking about a touch screen phone, we have to mention ways in which you can protect it. There are various cases and skins on the market for your device, but perhaps the Samsung Impression holster turns out to be the best choice, due to its multiple uses.

If you are worried about the cost of the holsters and other phone accessories in general, you should know they are affordable and you have nothing serious to worry about. For example, leather Samsung Impression holster is priced around $10, but its high protection and high-quality material will definitely impress you. Take for example the Beyond Premium holster, which is priced at just $6.99 and it provides a snap-on hard cover, a perfect fit, openings for all ports and features of the phone, rotating belt clip for an easy carrying. This holster is perfect for those who are always on the way and don’t have the time and trouble to check for their phone in the bag or try to find it among other belongings when it is calling. If you are looking for something sturdier, then you might like the Premium Carrying pouch holster, priced at $16.57, but with an improved design, more security when you attach the pouch to your belt. In this case you have to remove the phone from the pouch if you want to use it.

From Wireless Solutions, the Samsung Impression holster is priced at $13.45 and it offers a more lightweight design, and as well the clips so you can adjust the holster to your belt. Usually, if you pay a higher price on these products you get high quality, but you can also see what other users have to say about it, so you can make a final impression about the product. If you still don’t want to spend this much on a holster, then you can get a $4 and see its quality. You can be lucky and pick a good holster or you can have the disadvantage of the holster to break easily, especially as the clip is designed out of plastic and it is less flexible.

As you can see, carrying solutions for your phone exist and you just have to search around for some examples. You can pick these products from your close-by stores, or you can shop online. But as some online retail stores require paying the shipping, it might not be worth it.

Samsung Delve has indeed a sleek design, with an easy-to-use touch interface, benefit from good calling and photo features and on its overall satisfying multimedia performance. But, a phone is not perfect no matter what, so we should specify its negative points of view as well. In this case, the lack of Wi-Fi and the lack of an accelerometer can’t be over passed. A touch screen phone without an accelerometer should bother some of the users, especially as you can’t enjoy those rotating applications and games.

As for size and weight, Samsung Delve measures 4.57 inches tall by 2.17 inches wide by 0.49 inch deep and weights 3.63 ounces. It has a sturdy feel when you hold it in your hands and along with the rounded corners and comfortable feel; you will enjoy having this device. Below the display there are three physical keys, the Talk and End buttons and the dedicated Back button. The screen measures 3”, supports 262.000 colors and has a pixel resolution of 240x400. With some adjustments regarding brightness, backlighting time, you should be satisfied with the quality and with the size provided. And as you can find on several Samsung phones, the TouchWiz interface is here as well. This means you have some pre-loaded widgets you can arrange and move around, but you have to settle with the ones you get, as you can’t add or remove the existing ones. On top of the Home screen there is a collapsible shortcut bar with the Web browser, the music player, messaging and Bluetooth. On the bottom there is another bar with some other controls, such as the phone dialer, the contacts menu, messaging menu and the main menu.

The virtual keyboard is responsive and you can also use the hand recognition feature for introducing text and use the standard alphanumeric keyboard to type messages. But the QWERTY keyboard will remain the best solution for this action of course. Without the accelerometer, you have to get used to the portrait-mode keyboard, as you can’t switch to the landscape view of it. As for your contacts, you can add up to 500 in the contact book, but for each you can add other phone numbers and contact information. You can also group callers and assign them ringtones and photos for customizing them. Among other features, we can include the world clock, speakerphone, calendar, calculator, unit convertor and so on.

To conclude, the music player has plenty of features and settings to offer. For instance, you have playlists, shuffle modes, equalizer settings and using the USB connectivity or the memory card, you can add tracks to your phone. The 2 megapixels camera takes really nice shots, with balance colors and good clarity. You have here as well, lots of editing options and settings for the quality of pictures, self timer, autofocus, white balance, shutter sounds, night modes and 24 frames to choose from.

Free Ringtones for Samsung

After you buy a mobile phone you try to find all sorts of downloads for it. For each type of phone there is a certain amount of software available, for some more and for some less. You should always take into account the model of your Samsung phone, because not every download is compatible with all versions. It always depends on the specifications, such as types of files supported, size and resolution of display and so on.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

What is more, the internal memory established how many items you can install on your phone. Phones with microSD expansion cards can easily be upgraded, so you can fill your headset with more pictures and more items from the internet. As specified earlier, downloading items depend on different situations. The type of files supported is a very important factor. For example, you can’t get free ringtones for Samsung, especially MP3 ringtones, if your Samsung phone does not support MP3 files.

Most of the phones have support for polyphonic ringtones and these are available for free and you can find many of them. Getting ringtones will make it easier for you, because you can assign a special ringtone for someone who is calling you often and you will always know who it is without even pulling out the phone from the pocket. And if there is a caller you want to avoid, you assign it a specified ringtone and you will know not to bother looking at the phone. As for MP3 ringtones, you can still find free ones, but it depends on the category you are interested in. if you want for example, nature sounds, funny voices, laughter’s, sounds from cartoons, then you have plenty of chances to find them for free. But if, for example, you want the latest hit from a pop star or a certain part from a song, then things get complicated due to all the plagiarism issue.

Even so, there are some websites that offer free ringtones for Samsung, no matter what. They have developed a system in which you can upload a ringtone only if it has been bought. Then the user can crop the ringtone as he/she wants and share it with the rest of the world. We have to thank these users for providing us with Samsung ringtones. You just have to search on various websites and see exactly which ones offer these kinds of ringtones. You will easily find what you want as long as you are willing to do a bit of research and stay in front of the computer. But for more advanced mobile phones, you have some applications available that you can use to crop your own ringtones. Most of the mobile phones however, have an application on board that allows you to create ringtones; you can select certain parts of the song, such as bass for example and make your own polyphonic ringtone.

As long as you specify the type of phone you have and find only compatible items, you can fill your phone with all sorts of downloads. Besides ringtones, there are also themes, videos, games and applications you can download, so you can really enjoy the pleasure of having a mobile phone.

Samsung Alias

Samsung Alias 2 is that mobile phone you want to have in case you are into slightly different and weird gadgets. When you look at the phone from the front, you don’t say it is something different about it. But the whole thing starts when you slide the keyboard. Depending on how you hold the phone, the keypad takes various shapes.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

But besides the innovative looks the phone really shows off its performance for video, music and for basic calling. As long as you think you can get used to the Samsung Alias 2 mobile phone, then you can have yourself something out of the ordinary. These said, it is better to give the phone a test before you actually buy it. There is nothing like feeling the phone yourself and seeing it live.

The phone is not your usual flip phone, because it is slightly bigger, measuring 4.01 inches by 2.04 inches by 0.67 inch and weighting 4.34 ounces. But this gives it a sturdy and solid feel, so keeping it in your hands will turn out to be a pleasure. The outside display measures 1.3”, supports 65.000 colors and features a pixel resolution of 128x128. Like any other external display, you can see the basic information including battery life, signal strength, date and time and photo caller ID. But besides other displays of its kind, in this case you are allowed to make some customizations, such as changing the contrast, choosing wallpaper, clock style. Below the display you can find the dedicated controls for the music player, so you can listen to music, switch though songs without even opening the phone. What you will still see on the outside will be the volume rocker and the voice dialing button on the left side and the 2.5mm headset jack and the proprietary charger jack on the right side.

And now for the main display: measures 2.6”, supports 262.000 colors and features a pixel resolution of 320x240, featuring bright and sharp colors and graphics. And if you had some customization options with the external display, you can imagine that in this case there are even more options. You can choose from some themes, change the backlighting time, font and style of the menu and the dial font size. And because the keypad is the main attraction of the Samsung Alias 2, let’s see how you can manage it. Instead of the usual navigation array and the keypad buttons, there are squares and rectangular tiles. But these are the buttons that change according to the use of the phone. If you open the phone vertically, the keys will have one form and in horizontal mode, they will be looking different. It is called the e-ink technology and it is simpler to use when you get the thing.

For example, in vertical mode, you will see the standard numeric keypad and some extra shortcuts for the Bluetooth, alarm clock, messaging menu, camera, voice dialing, games and speakerphone. The shortcut keys stay lit when they are in stand-by mode, but when you get inside menus, they will eventually turn off. Actually, you might have a problem more with the color of the keys, the black and white being sometimes hard to distinguish. But as you can get the use of any gadget on the market after a while, so you will manage with this intriguing cell phone.
