E1410 and E1117, new Samsung handsets

Samsung is one of those cell phones manufacturers that are very well known for their high-end handsets, but who are conscious about the importance the low-end area has when it comes to gain more and more customers. This means that the low-end cell phones were never neglected by the South Korean, as it perfectly understood that, in these difficult crisis times, the spectrum should be reconsidered.

That’s why the announcement of two new basic Samsung phones didn’t come as a surprise for anyone. Therefore, with the world in the middle of a deadlock that isn’t expected to be broke the next year, there are two entry level devices that won’t disappoint the public, the E1410 and the E1117. The new Samsung handsets aren’t equipped with multimedia features such as a photo camera or a MP3 player, so they are expected to start selling with prices under $100.

As for the technical specs of the Samsung E1410, they include: dual band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 MHz) with GPRS, 1.63-inch CSTN display with a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels and 65k colors and an internal memory of just 4MB. Measuring 108 x 46 x 15.3 millimeters, 1000 mAh battery provides up to 11.5 hours of talk time and up to 546 hours of stand-by time.

Similar to E1410, the features of the E1117 include: dual band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 MHz) with EDGE, 1.63-inch CSTN display with a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels and 65k colors, an integrated FM radio and an internal memory of 900Kb. Measuring 106.4 x 45 x 15.4 millimeters and weighing 79 grams, the 1000 mAh battery provides similar talk and stand-by times to the one of the previous device.

There are no details on the pricing and availability of these two new Samsung handsets at the moment, but the phones are expected to become available in the next couple of months.

Samsung Ego, a luxury cell phone for your alter ego

When you hear your girlfriend saying she’d really like to change her mobile phone, the Vertu she received as a birthday gift this year, it kind of makes you want to scream. You’re smart enough to realize that she doesn’t have a mid-end device in her mind and that another expensive gift will be the first step in creating a huge hole in your bank account. Someone once told me that constancy is the key for a successful life, but come on, constancy in spending money on your girlfriend’s caprices doesn’t seem to be nowhere near a great success.

Anyway, if you take her desire into consideration, now that the Christmas is approaching, than let me introduce you a brand new luxury cell phone, Samsung GT-S9402, also known under the name of Samsung Ego. I’m sure you already know that Samsung has already had various attempts in the luxury cell phone market that didn’t make a sensation, whatsoever. Remember, for example, the partnership between the South Korean company and Bang&Olufsen that ended with the release of a pretty nice phone. But let’s face it, the device wasn’t spectacular!

Rumors about a new Samsung luxury cell phone started to cause a big fuss a couple of weeks ago. As you can see in the pictures, the company decided to use the classical candybar form factor, which has been adorned with several luxury features. For example, the Ego is made of advanced materials, like liquidmetal composite alloy, that isn’t common when it comes to cell phone devices. The alloy was developed by Caltech and features a 3 times increased strength, helping the Ego withstand 1.8 times the pressure. More than that, the material makes it a whole lot more flexible, while the vibration absorption is also better.

In addition, Samsung Ego has a dual-SIM card support: for one of the cards, the cell phone is a Triband GSM GPRS/EDGE, while for the other one it’s a Dualband GPRS/EDGE phone. On the other hand, it sports a 2-inch QVGA AMOLED display, with 262K color, a 5-megapixel camera, equipped with autofocus, image stabilization, smile detection feature, WDR and LED flash. The cell phone also has Bluetooth 2.0 and USB, as well as FM radio with RDS. The internal memory of the device is of 1GB, but it can be expanded with a microSDHC card of up to 8GB.

Measuring 115 x 48 x 16 millimeters and weighing 140 grams, this luxury cell phone is already available for an impressive price of 1,200 Euros. You must love your girlfriend a lot in order to make her wish come true!

The Hugo Boss logo increases the Samsung F480 price

There are many fashion houses that, at a specific moment in time, joined mobile phone manufacturers, in order to get a handset for their name brands. That is why, every once in a while, we are assaulted by all sorts of mobile phones that have fancy names or pieces of the most expensive jewelery engraved. This time, fortunately, there’s no bling bling hanging to the new Hugo Boss Samsung F480. But the fancy name is right under your nose, if I may say so.

Following the example given by other fashion houses, like Prada and Giorgio Armani, who were in the spotlights these days, more than ever, Hugo Boss decided to have their own branded handset. And just like Giorgio Armani, the company decided to start a collaboration with Samsung. The difference is that they didn’t prefer to design the new phone from scratch. Therefore, the new Hugo Boss Samsung phone will be based on the fully touch-operated F480 Tocco, maybe because these guys wanted to release the device in time for the upcoming holidays.

As far as the user interface and wallpapers are concerned, they were designed in collaboration with the fashion company, being the perfect way of leaving their mark on the handset. The cover of the phone features the Hugo Boss logo. More than that, there is a set of ringtones that, in the opinion of the fashion company, reflect its style. The main difference between this special edition and the original Samsung F480 Tocco is the specially designed Bluetooth handset that comes as an extra bonus in the retail package.

As far as the specs are concerned, they will remain the same. So, just in case you don’t remember very well the features this phone is equipped with, then a quick memory refresh will be a great help for you. So here are the most important features of Samsung F480. It is a tri-band phone with HSDPA 7.2Mbps support that comes with a 2.8-inch touchscreen QVGA display. In addition, there’s an impressive 5 megapixels camera that has autofocus, power LED flash, image and video stabilization.

Of course, there is an integrated audio and video player that is compatible with multiple file formats, as well as FM Radio with RDS. The finishing stroke consists of the impressive TouchWiz user interface and navigation that convert the device into one dreaded rival for mobile phones that are already on the market.

The Samsung F480 mobile phone, in its new Hugo Boss branded clothes, is expected to start selling in December through the Hugo Boss retail outlets in Europe. If you’re a big fan of this luxury label, then this is the perfect accessory to complete the rest of your wardrobe. But expect to throw a pretty impressive amount away, because the brand will cost you. Adding an extra “value” to the Samsung F480 price, the device will be purchased for €479.

Samsung BizBee, a new family of business cell phones

Following the example of other important companies, Samsung is getting more and more involved into the smartphone realm, due to the overwhelming attention people pay to such handsets nowadays. The clearest proof of them all is the brand new range of business handsets, which were recently announced and called Samsung BizBee.

Despite its funny name, which sounds more like a line-up of products for kids, Samsung is in fact targeting these new devices at “busy executives, who require a business mobile that offers optimum performance, 24/7, from any location”.

The BizBee name is meant to make people aware of Samsung’s new smartphone range, and when I say people I think about the business community. Therefore, as far as the target market is concerned, we’re talking about those business people who are always looking for the ultimate solution for their always-on-the-run professional lives. Because the BizBee consumer isn’t typical whatsoever, having nothing to do with other target segments, Samsung had to reconsider their offer, including all-in-one connectivity, an integrated QWERTY keyboard and the possibility of using email and other applications. Not only the BizBee consumer is inspired by the business area, but he is also the type of guy for whom the mobile phone is an irreplaceable gadget, as he is always on the run.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

When it comes to the promotion part, Samsung is preparing an exciting campaign, consisting of advertising, digital activity and media outreach that will launch the BizBee range described by the “BizBee – Business Unlimited” secondary phrase. In the print ads you can see “a lady sitting in a desert location; she is obviously some way from her office, but she is connected to her work via her BizBee handset”. The slogan is simpler and more powerful than you could have imagined – “This is my office”.

“The launch of the BizBee brand range will enable easier communication for executives with busy lives IN order to penetrate the business market further and strengthen our position in the smartphone category, we are delighted to launch the new BizBee brand, and the first of the products within this range”, said Young Chul Park, Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung Electronics Europe.

“This is one of the most exciting new brand campaigns Samsung has launched to market. The first BizBee phone, the Samsung i780 will be refreshed with Windows Mobile 6.1 in November. The BizBee smartphone range enables passionate and ambitious business people to maximize their performance and ensure they are connected to the office, anytime anywhere”.

As you can easily see, the first product to become part of this new family of business cell phones is Samsung i780, which is to be introduced in Europe, first in European countries such as the UK, Nordics, Spain and Netherlands. The handset features a larger screen, in order to enable document viewing and amending, and it’s compatible with Windows Mobile 6.1. In addition, i780 comes equipped with an optical mouse, a stylus and a full QWERTY keyboard. Not to mention the all-in-one functionality of the new device which consists of email, connectivity and applications, making it more attractive to all of you out there who are global business travelers.

The campaign, consisting of print and outdoor media components, will launch, as I said, first in Europe. The first print ads are expected to run in 10 European countries in November 2008, the latest in December.

Samsung Tobi S3030, a new cell phone for children

With every day that passes by I’m more and more blown away with the way kids behave these days and the pretensions they have starting so early ages. I mean, I’ve seen a couple of days ago a 9 year old girl who, in her attempt to remember all of her best friends, was reading her mobile phone’s contact book. Oh my god, that girl has a cell phone and she probably doesn’t still know how babies come into the world. This is way too much. Let’s be honest, I didn’t need a mobile phone until I was somewhere around 18.

I don’t see the point of kittle kids having such devices, but one thing’s for sure: no one from Samsung asked me whether I liked it or not. Therefore, they didn’t give themselves the time to relax after announcing some serious, and more important than that, highly-features mobile phones, (take Samsung i7110 or Samsung Eternity for example), that Samsung, maybe the largest South Korean-based manufacturer, has decided to bring in the spotlight a brand new phone. The only difference is that this one isn’t aimed at grown ups, that’s for sure: Samsung S3030, also known under the name of Tobi.

The company said that the device was created and adjusted in order to make happy the pre-teens, young adults and anyone who wants to find not only fun, but also safety features inside their mobile phones. With the help of its friendly graphical user interface, Samsung Tobi is the perfect solution for all those mobile users who dare to be different. In addition, being provided with safety features and eco-friendly material, the device assures the security of the Samsung Tobi users.

Designers tried to satisfy the needs and desires of the mobile users. More than anything, they want to leave a mark on their devices, thus expressing their personality and style. First of all, Samsung Tobi is equipped with unique graphical user interface themes that weren’t available on other mobile phones. You’ll be surprised to see some affable animated characters in three different themes, such as Monster theme, Snowman theme and Ocean World theme that will undoubtedly gain your soul. In addition, there’s a backside cover that can be changed whenever the one you use bores you to death. If this isn’t enough for you, then find out that another sign of your individuality will be the photo or the image that can be inserted under the see-through protective sleeve on the back.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The device is available in six colors like Sweet Pink, Loyal Blue, Apple Green, Bright Orange, Oasis Blue and Snow Silver, colors that are meant to enhance the visual experience of the user, or maybe the pretensions one might have when it comes to design features.

As I’ve said it before, this new cell phone for children has various safety functions, including SOS Call, SOS Message and Fake Call. By using these safety features, users will always be connected to their family members and friends whenever might be the case. We’re talking about emergent situations, of course. Another important aspect is that Samsung Tobi assures parents that their kids are provided with safety tools that are meant to keep them safe.

Moreover, Samsung Tobi is made of recyclable and biodegradable bio-plastic, therefore is friendly for the environment. Not to mention the fact that is painted using non-toxic paints and non-allergic materials, having in mind not only the environment, but also the users. To complete the eco-friendly attitude, the earphone is also made of “green” materials without any polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

The specs of the handset are not impressive, let’s face it, but for pre-teens, these should be enough: tri band GSM/GPRS connectivity (900/1800/1900 MHz), 1.9-inch 176x144 pixels display with 65K colors and a QCIF resolution, three animated themes (Monster, Snowman, Ocean world), 1.3 camera, music player (compatible with MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA formats), Bluetooth messenger, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, 15MB of internal memory with the possibility to increase the storage capacity with microSD card support for up to 8GB. The device weighs 85 grams and measures 94.7 x 45.4 x 17.5 millimeters.

Samsung Tobi is expected to go on sale starting this month in two European countries, Italy and the UK, but the price is still unknown. Later this year, parents from other European countries, the CIS and China will also get the chance to make their children happy with this brand new cell phone for children.
