Mobile technology has evolved a lot and these days it is a hard thing to find a classic mobile phone, as smartphones are all over the place. Back in the days, phones were just used for communication, basic talking and sending some limited text messages, but now we are facing these pocket computers, video multimedia features, internet access, compact design and so. But as they are more sophisticated than ever, we can surely spot some smartphone pros and cons, so let’s take a look among some of them and you will see how these affect your life.

First of all, you buy a smartphone because it is convenient, has Wi-Fi capabilities, helps you stay connected to the internet in hot spots and you can check your e-mails, you can order products online, read the news, chat with your friends, access social networks and so. These are the tasks you normally do on your computer, but a phone is capable of them now. You can keep in touch with your loved ones and co-workers through e-mails, text messaging, you can post pictures on the internet and as most smartphones have a front facing camera, you can always manage video calling. And not to mention all those productivity applications that will help you stay organized and focused on daily activities. There are some applications that can help you lose weight and lead a healthier life, they remember things for you and even do things for you, like putting your phone on silent when you enter the theatre or cinema, remember you to buy milk when you are at the grocery store and so on.

And now a disadvantage: distraction; because you are alerted of incoming messages and e-mails and you have an urge to check your social networks, you get distracted and you can have accidents or injuries. When you are driving, don’t see what alerts you received, or when you are on the streets walking, as you can bump into someone or you can even ignore the red light and pass like nothing happens. Another disadvantage is the battery life. Smartphones are useful and convenient and they keep you alerted and so, but in most cases, if you use them on a regular basis, you need to charge them daily or once at two days. As there are plenty applications and games available, as screens are large and bright and they have high resolutions and you access the internet, take pictures, watch videos and plenty more activities, the battery drops considerably and you can face the situation that your phone is dead and you didn’t even get to call a taxi or call at home. A solution to this would be to buy some additional batteries, car chargers and other such accessories, so you can charge the phone no matter where you are.

Smartphones are also packed with plenty features, such as GPS. This helps establishing your location, you can get applications and get driving directions, and you can download maps, send someone your location in case you get lost, and get information about local businesses and what establishments are near you and so on. There are some smartphone pros and cons, but there will always be users addicted to them and their features and users who will adopt that negative position, saying they are dangerous, they make you pay less attention to what is around you.
