Sony Ericsson announced last week the Sony Ericsson S500. Measuring only 14mm thick, the slider comes with a 2" QVGA display, 2-megapixel camera, media player expandable via a Memory Card slot, and a GSM/GPRS/EDGE connection for web surfing.
The Sony Ericsson S500's design is very attractive and has some interesting features, like the themes that can change depending on the time of day or even the season, plus an interesting illumination effects.
The phone will be available starting the third quarter of this year and it will come in two colors, "Spring Yellow"(gold) and "Mysterious Green"(black and green). No clues on the pricing though.
Here is the preview video showing the Sony Ericsson K610i phone. It is the company’s first i-mode enabled handset that sports a 1.9-inch QCIF+ display, 2.0MP camera, 16MB internal memory, M2 card slot, Bluetooth, music player, and USB connectivity. Click "read more" to see the video.
According to a recent announcement, Sony Ericsson has more than doubled its profits mainly due to the increasing popularity of its camera phones and music handsets. With 21.8 million handsets sold (47 percent more than last year), Sony Ericsson had an 145 million Euro jump (from 109 million Euro recorded last year to 254 million Euro). This makes Sony Ericsson the fourth world mobile phones producer, right after Samsung.
"Guilty" for the company's success are the two successful Walkman and CyberShot product lines. Sony Ericsson has a lot of quality handsets, especially music and camera phones, which, though slightly expensive deserve every penny. However, the company it trying to expand it's low-budget line, by associating with Sagem.
Here’s a first look at the upcoming Sony Ericsson W999i. The phone, is somehow similar to the M600 is a stylish 12.5mm-thick slider that packs a 2.4-inch display, 2.0-megapixel camera(unlike the M600 which doesn't have a camera), and HSDPA. No further info available so far, but we hope to hear some more soon about this phone, because it looks promising.
MobileBurn has a very interesting photo comparison between two of the best camera phones out there, the recently released Nokia N95 and the Sony Ericsson K800i. Even if this "battle" doesn't seem fair, because of Nokia's 5 megapixel camera compared to SE's 3.2 megapixel.
However, the result are somehow surprising. In full light environment, the Nokia camera shows all it's 5 megapixels and the photos are splendid. But in all the other cases, due to Nokia's not-so-perfect noise reduction algorithm and over sharpening, pictures taken with the Sony Ericsson are better. So, somehow surprising, Sony Ericsson's camera wins the test, with photos being much more accurate overall.
