To enlarge their portfolio of phone models, The Sony Ericsson Company has created a new model designated for those people who want a cell-phone with many features and a unique design without paying a lot of money for it. This model is called Sony Ericsson W508i which is another phenomenal Walkman phone with great sound quality.

The Sony Ericsson W508i is a cell phone which combines the utility and performance into a small and easy handset. The case of this phone is made of matte plastic and it’s available in only two colors: Poetic White and Metal Grey. With a case which measures only 93.5 x 50 x 14 mm this phone has only 98 grams in weight. On the sides you will find a volume rocker and a “hold switch” button which activates the touch-sensitive buttons.

On the frontal side, covered by hardened class, you will find a 1.1 inch monochrome display with a resolution of 128 x 36 pixels and three other sensitive buttons which will help you change the tracks, play or stop the music. The keypad on this phone is extraordinary. The keys are round, surrounded by blue rubber inserts with enough space between them so you can write easily. The keys are flat, very responsive when you press them.
This Sony Ericsson W508i has a 2.2 inch TFT display with a native resolution of 240 x 320 inch which supports 262K colors. The quality of pictures is very good even if you are under direct sunlight. The camera on this phone has 3.2 Megapixels and it allows you to take photos of a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. Even if this mobile phone lacks flash and auto-focus, there are many other camera settings like white balance, night mode, multi-shot mode or landscape mode which help you take pictures of a superior quality every time. This camera can record 3GP clips at a maximum resolution of 176 x 144 pixels at a speed of 30 fps. You can set the clip duration to be up to 10 seconds or unlimited.
The Sony Ericsson W508i is a Walkman and for that, it has great performances when comes to music. The Sony Ericsson W508i has a Walkman 3.0 interface with a lot of handful improvements. The features like SensMe (by hitting the OK button with this feature you can make a playlist with mood-and speed-keyed tracks on it), Shake Control (which allows you to change songs with a single hand shake) and Time Machine (which allows you to pick up only tracks released in a particular time) will make the use of this phone a real pleasure.
The supported audio formats are MP3, AAC, E-AAC+, AAC+, WMA WAV, and M4A. The audio quality is similar to other older-Walkman mobile phones, so you will get clear and great quality sounds. If you pay attention to what is inside the package, you will notice that this phone comes with a great pair of headphones, one of the best set of headphones that Sony Ericsson has ever made. The external speaker is very loud but if you attach these headphones you will notice that music in now played at a louder volume and with enough bass.

To store your files, Sony Ericsson W508i comes with 100 MB of free space but you can extend that using a Memory Pro Micro (M2) card. The maximum memory which this phone can handle is 16 GB so you can have enough space to store your favorite music, photos and clips. For connectivity, this phone has GPRS, EDGE and Bluetooth with A2DP. Even if this phone lacks the 3G feature, you will be satisfied because it is a Quad-Band handset and this means it will recognize all networks. The 920 mAh Li-Ion battery will keep this cell phone up for 4 hours of conversation and 400 hours in standby mode. This is pretty good for a music phone. For only $161 I think it’s safe to say this phone makes a pretty good deal.
