New colors for the Sony Ericsson logo?

Most of the articles people can read on specialized blogs about the cell phone manufacturers that are all the rage these days are related to the announcements those company make regarding the newest products they are about to release. The same happens with Sony Ericsson, a company that threatened us with an impressive number of devices that are expected to start selling sometime this year.

The bad thing is that not even of the products that we were promised to see is available right now and I take a wild guess and assume that we will have to be quite patient until we get to see them in “flesh and blood”.

But Sony Ericsson has many other ideas in its mind and it seems to spending most of its time trying to somehow reinvent the company, by preparing a marketing campaign for the cell phone that are about to enter the stage. And one of their ideas is to change the logo of the company. Actually, they don’t want to change it, but they want to add some new color to the logo.

You can see in the picture above how the logos would look like and you have to admit they’re still recognizable. Rumors say that the new logos will be seen in several materials that will be part of a marketing purpose, but they will not be used with the phones.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 Rachael

The first Sony Ericsson handset to come with the Android platform was said to be the Sony Ericsson Rachael, which I’m sure you remember, but the new name that you’ll have to get used to is Sony Ericsson Xperia X3. If some of you thought it will be X5, you should know you were wrong.

The pictures of this cell phone made their appearance some weeks ago, when there wasn’t much information available. However, Expansys, a popular online retailer, managed to put its hands on the complete list of features.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The phone comes, indeed, with an 8 megapixel camera with additional features such as autofocus, LED flash, face detection, image stabilization, smile shutter and VGA video recording.

Other features include quad band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz), dual band 3G (900 / 2100 MHz) with HSDPA 10 Mbps and HSUPA 2 Mbps, a 4 inches touch sensitive display with a resolution of 800 x 400 pixels, assisted GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, miniUSB, Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11g, email (POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, MS Exchange) and microSDHC card slot for expandable memory.

In addition, it seems that the new Sony Ericsson cell phone will come with a customized user interface. Unfortunately, there’s nothing official circulating over the Internet, or at least not right now, but we’re looking forward for new details.

Sophisticated Sony Ericsson slider

I had enough with the impressive amount of new about HTC and their popular handset, the Magic, which is expected to be the handset to crown the hard working and incredible efforts. I guess I told you before about HTC’s big summer plans according to which more than 1 million units of the Magic are to shipped in the next months.

So let’s try to focus our attention on something else, because I don’t think I’d have a very peaceful reaction if I had to write again about HTC and their latest accomplishments.

The phone has an internal memory of 90MB, but there’s the possibility for you to increase it using a SanDisk microSD. The new Sony Ericsson slider measures 91.5 x 48 x 14.9 millimeters and weighs approximately 96.5 grams. It is equipped with a battery that provides up to 10 hours of talk time and up to 400 hours of stand-by time on GSM/GPRS, 4 hours of talk time and 350 hours of stand-by time on UMTS, and no more than 3 hours of video call time.

New Sony Ericsson unlocked cell phone in the US

I suppose you’re getting sick and tired with the amount of articles you’ve read lately about Sony Ericsson, but there’s nothing I can do about it, because it seems that the company has prepared all sorts of surprises for its customers. I’ve told you about Idou being baptized, once again, as Satio, about the green cell phones that are expected to come out in the near future, based on the same technology that is available within the GreenHeart, and about Aino, the latest Sony Ericsson slider.

That’s that. The words have been written and transmitted to all of you, so no reason for excuses right now. So allow me to share with you another piece of good news. It seems that the Sony Ericsson W995, a phone that was announced along with the Idou (or Satio, you can call it either way), is expected to hit the American market sometime during this summer. It’s just that this time it will appear under the name of Sony Ericsson W995a.

To be more precise, the phone will be available starting July 6 and it will be the next Sony Ericsson unlocked cell phone. Unfortunately, the W995a will be sold for a hefty price: $599.99, free of contract.

Sustainable innovation from Sony Ericsson

Just like we were promised, Sony Ericsson has brought to the market two new cell phones, both based on an eco-friendly technology that first appeared within the GreenHeart concept. They are called Sony Ericsson C901 GreenHeart and Sony Ericsson Naite, being the living proof of their “ongoing commitment to taking a lead on environmental sustainability”. The great thing is that the purpose has been reached without neglecting the design and the functionality of the product.

Along with these two green cell phones, Sony Ericsson also launched the MH300 GreenHeart headset, which is said to be “one of the greenest headset on the market”.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

First of all, I should tell you that the C901 GreenHeart will be equipped with an electronic version of the so very famous manuals, so that the paper one is replaced, which helps us save approximately 90% in paper and reduce the impact the transport of the product has over the environment. On the other hand, the case is made of recycled plastics, in proportion of 50%, while the display light sensor is optimised, using a smaller amount of energy.

Both phones will come with a charger that consumes small amounts of energy, being one of the first such charger to come to market. This way, there is a reduction of approximately 15% in the overall quantity of CO2 footprint.

The C901 will be equipped with the so-called WalkMate, an application that allows users to talk about what it takes in order to be eco-friendly with the help of a comparation between a walk and a journey made by car. Naite, on the other hand, comes with Ecomate, an application that helps the users make the greenest choices of them all.

The features of the C901 GreenHeart include a 2.2 inches TFT display which is scratch resistant with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, a five megapixel camera with Xenon flash, Smile Shutter, Face Detection and up to 16x digital zoom, media player with PlayNow and TrackID, Access NetFront, FM radio with RDS, video streaming, YouTube support, Bluetooth, USB, Google Maps, geo-tagging, an internal memory of 120MB and memory stick Micro card support (M2).

The C901 measures 105 x 45 x 13 millimeters and weighs 107 grams, providing up to 9.5 hours of talk time and up to 430 hours of stand-by time.

The Sony Ericsson Naite, on the other hand, comes with a 2.0 megapixel camera with 2.5x digital zoom and video recording capabilities, media player with PlayNow and TrackID, FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth technology, Google Maps, USB, YouTube support, a 2.2 inches TFT QVGA display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, an internal memory of 100MB and a SanDisk microSD card support.

This phone measures 108 x 47 x 12.6 millimeters and weighs 84 grams. The battery provides up to 9 hours and 40 minutes, respectively 4 hours and 10 minutes on GSM and UMTS, and up to 380 hours on both GSM and UMTS networks.
