Sony Ericsson W660i

A neat phone with musical talent: Sony Ericsson W660i - not only it will charm the ladies with its delicate beauty, but they will connect to the pulse of the world and it will maintain the atmosphere.
The back side of the phone is very attractive - half of it is made of soft and thin plastic, covering the battery, while the other half is encrusted with delicate floral (circle) ornaments, having also incorporated the camera and the speaker.

In the upper part that covers the battery is a circular portion, provided with holes. Sony Ericsson W660i has a secondary camera, located on the front of the phone above the display. The circles represent a repetitive decorative element; most of the phone control keys have a circular shape. Below the display, there are 6 keys and a 5-way navigation key. All keys are generally small, which is an inconvenience for those who do not have thin fingers. I am sorry for men. On the other hand, the women will find this charming.
The bottom side, the phone has only one fast port connector and the microphone. On the left side of the phone can be easily seen a slot for the microSD memory card. The slot is protected by a plastic cap which is attached to the phone, and because of this, it's harder to lose. On the left side, is also the "Play / Stop" button, which works only if the keypad is not locked. On the other side of the phone we have are buttons for camera control / video control.

The upper right side of the phone has the volume control button, which works even if the keypad is locked. The On-Off button that also changes the ringtones is the only control key available on the top of the phone.
The display occupies almost half of the front side of the phone. In technical terms, it is an active TFT display with 256 K colors with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. If the number of colors on the display is not that important, the resolution, which is crucial in general, is insufficient for Sony Ericsson W660i. In fact, the QVGA screen was considered standard for the phones in this class. On the other hand, the display is clearly visible in sunlight, and this is as important as the resolution. It is recommended to use the maximum contrast of the colors during the day, preferably those with black font on the white background. The visibility in the sunlight is usually affected by the shadow effect.

The address book can store up to 1000 contacts, and up to 2500 phone numbers. You can sort contacts by name or surname. However, looking in both fields is impossible, and this is certainly a minus of the phone. For each contact there are many fields - name, surname, mobile number, home number, fax number, service number, email, company, image, and so on. The address book offers a variety of practical functions. You can save all contacts on the memory card, which is an advantage, especially if it is necessary to repair the phone. Contacts can be copied and moved from the phone to the memory cards, and vice versa. Furthermore, to each contact we can attach an image and a different ringtone. You can also use tracks stored on the memory card.
Unlike the Sony Ericsson W610, W660i offers UMTS and video calls. The quality of the earphones included in the package of the phone is surprisingly good. The sound is broad and natural. The calls can be recorded from the menu. Sony Ericsson offers an exceptional quality with the wireless headphones.

Sony Ericsson W660i fits perfectly on daily communication needs, in terms of e-mail and messaging.
Sony Ericsson W660i handles the Java applications well. An application that worked great on our phone is "Handygeocatching" that communicates simultaneously with a GPS module and obtains data through mobile data transfer. Although Bluetooth compatibility with Java applications may seem obvious, there are many models, even the latest, that do not support it. There are two games preinstalled in the phone: "Snowboarding" and "Towerbloxx. Sony Ericsson W660i also has a player that supports MP4 and 3GP formats. Images can be rotated and videos can also be played in the landscape format, and can be extended across all the display.
The data transfers have been improved. You have a standard Internet browser, including the option to resize pages to fit the display. The browser can also work in "landscape" mode, and has an RSS reader. If you need to login to more elaborate websites, it is recommended to use Opera Mini, based on Java. RSS works well and provides updates at regular intervals.

Focused entirely on music, the Walkman does not pay attention to the camera or to the photos. Sony Ericsson W660i does not make an exception. The 2 megapixel camera lacks autofocus, but also the possibility to capture close frames. The LED flash (or any other light source based on xenon) is also missing. The picture quality cannot be called impressive. Even the photos taken in good light conditions are not focused. The light-shadow effect is amplified in a bad way by the high JPEG compression that is used. At the same time, Sony Ericsson W660i's camera deserves admiration for the multitude of options and extra functions - we have the black and white balance (contrast), automatic insertion of data into images, various photo effects, waiting time, and so on. It can also record videos, although the resolution of 176 x 144 pixels is not impressive.
The Walkman symbol on this phone guarantees some common Walkman features: a very good music player, exceptional headphones, a stereo radio with RDS and a larger memory card (512 MB) included in the box. The music player is Walkman version 2.0, same as the Sony Ericsson W850. The songs are sorted according to ID3. Sony Ericsson W660i supports MP3, WMA and AAC. Also offers Disc-to-Phone application (usually implemented in all Walkman models from Sony Ericsson), which allows fast transfers from the CD to your mobile phone. Of course, the player can be minimized; on the display will only appear a little bar with details about the song that currently runs in the background. The volume can be controlled using the related keys, even if the keypad is locked.

The radio application was not modified. It has support for RDS and it can store up to 20 radio channels, which can be accessed quickly. However, there was a small inconvenience - changing the frequency of the radio stations seems to be easier on Nokia models. Sony Ericsson W660i does not have innovations in music, but it performs its duties very well.
This phone is exceptional in terms of issues that we face every day. However, what matters is the personal opinion of each customer.
