Sony Ericsson W660i

A neat phone with musical talent: Sony Ericsson W660i - not only it will charm the ladies with its delicate beauty, but they will connect to the pulse of the world and it will maintain the atmosphere.

The back side of the phone is very attractive - half of it is made of soft and thin plastic, covering the battery, while the other half is encrusted with delicate floral (circle) ornaments, having also incorporated the camera and the speaker.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

In the upper part that covers the battery is a circular portion, provided with holes. Sony Ericsson W660i has a secondary camera, located on the front of the phone above the display. The circles represent a repetitive decorative element; most of the phone control keys have a circular shape. Below the display, there are 6 keys and a 5-way navigation key. All keys are generally small, which is an inconvenience for those who do not have thin fingers. I am sorry for men. On the other hand, the women will find this charming.

The bottom side, the phone has only one fast port connector and the microphone. On the left side of the phone can be easily seen a slot for the microSD memory card. The slot is protected by a plastic cap which is attached to the phone, and because of this, it's harder to lose. On the left side, is also the "Play / Stop" button, which works only if the keypad is not locked. On the other side of the phone we have are buttons for camera control / video control.

sony-ericsson-w660i

The upper right side of the phone has the volume control button, which works even if the keypad is locked. The On-Off button that also changes the ringtones is the only control key available on the top of the phone.

The display occupies almost half of the front side of the phone. In technical terms, it is an active TFT display with 256 K colors with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. If the number of colors on the display is not that important, the resolution, which is crucial in general, is insufficient for Sony Ericsson W660i. In fact, the QVGA screen was considered standard for the phones in this class. On the other hand, the display is clearly visible in sunlight, and this is as important as the resolution. It is recommended to use the maximum contrast of the colors during the day, preferably those with black font on the white background. The visibility in the sunlight is usually affected by the shadow effect.

sony-ericsson-w660i2

The address book can store up to 1000 contacts, and up to 2500 phone numbers. You can sort contacts by name or surname. However, looking in both fields is impossible, and this is certainly a minus of the phone. For each contact there are many fields - name, surname, mobile number, home number, fax number, service number, email, company, image, and so on. The address book offers a variety of practical functions. You can save all contacts on the memory card, which is an advantage, especially if it is necessary to repair the phone. Contacts can be copied and moved from the phone to the memory cards, and vice versa. Furthermore, to each contact we can attach an image and a different ringtone. You can also use tracks stored on the memory card.

Unlike the Sony Ericsson W610, W660i offers UMTS and video calls. The quality of the earphones included in the package of the phone is surprisingly good. The sound is broad and natural. The calls can be recorded from the menu. Sony Ericsson offers an exceptional quality with the wireless headphones.

sony-ericsson-w660i3

Sony Ericsson W660i fits perfectly on daily communication needs, in terms of e-mail and messaging.

Sony Ericsson W660i handles the Java applications well. An application that worked great on our phone is "Handygeocatching" that communicates simultaneously with a GPS module and obtains data through mobile data transfer. Although Bluetooth compatibility with Java applications may seem obvious, there are many models, even the latest, that do not support it. There are two games preinstalled in the phone: "Snowboarding" and "Towerbloxx. Sony Ericsson W660i also has a player that supports MP4 and 3GP formats. Images can be rotated and videos can also be played in the landscape format, and can be extended across all the display.

The data transfers have been improved. You have a standard Internet browser, including the option to resize pages to fit the display. The browser can also work in "landscape" mode, and has an RSS reader. If you need to login to more elaborate websites, it is recommended to use Opera Mini, based on Java. RSS works well and provides updates at regular intervals.

sony-ericsson-w660i4

Focused entirely on music, the Walkman does not pay attention to the camera or to the photos. Sony Ericsson W660i does not make an exception. The 2 megapixel camera lacks autofocus, but also the possibility to capture close frames. The LED flash (or any other light source based on xenon) is also missing. The picture quality cannot be called impressive. Even the photos taken in good light conditions are not focused. The light-shadow effect is amplified in a bad way by the high JPEG compression that is used. At the same time, Sony Ericsson W660i's camera deserves admiration for the multitude of options and extra functions - we have the black and white balance (contrast), automatic insertion of data into images, various photo effects, waiting time, and so on. It can also record videos, although the resolution of 176 x 144 pixels is not impressive.

The Walkman symbol on this phone guarantees some common Walkman features: a very good music player, exceptional headphones, a stereo radio with RDS and a larger memory card (512 MB) included in the box. The music player is Walkman version 2.0, same as the Sony Ericsson W850. The songs are sorted according to ID3. Sony Ericsson W660i supports MP3, WMA and AAC. Also offers Disc-to-Phone application (usually implemented in all Walkman models from Sony Ericsson), which allows fast transfers from the CD to your mobile phone. Of course, the player can be minimized; on the display will only appear a little bar with details about the song that currently runs in the background. The volume can be controlled using the related keys, even if the keypad is locked.

sony-ericsson-w660i5

The radio application was not modified. It has support for RDS and it can store up to 20 radio channels, which can be accessed quickly. However, there was a small inconvenience - changing the frequency of the radio stations seems to be easier on Nokia models. Sony Ericsson W660i does not have innovations in music, but it performs its duties very well.

This phone is exceptional in terms of issues that we face every day. However, what matters is the personal opinion of each customer.

Sony Ericsson W890i

Sony Ericsson W890i is considered the successor of the model W880i. Sony Ericsson has managed to assemble all the important functions of a modern handset into a slim phone that measures only 104x 46.5x 9.9 mm and weighs only 78 gram. Having these dimensions, we can say that this model is one of the thinnest 3G phones currently available on the market.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

W890i is available in three versions - Sparkling Silver, Black and Mocha Brown and appeared in stores in early 2008. On the early sales, this model was bought only in two colors: silver and brown. The "black" version was released later, just as in the case of Sony Ericsson W880i.

The phone comes with a package containing: a Li-Pol 950 mAh (BST-33 Li-Pol) battery, the charger, a M2 memory card with a capacity of 2 GB, a pair of stereo headphones, a data cable USB, the CD software and the user's manual.

sony-ericsson-w890i

The display uses TFT technology, it has a diagonal of 2 inches (30 x 40 mm), and can display up to 262 000 colors at a resolution of 240x320 pixels. With these technical specifications the display can accommodate up to eight text lines and three service lines like most of the new phones. Sony Ericsson W890i has a high quality display that works without problems in direct sunlight or outside. In terms of displayed images, we can say that the model w890i is slightly behind Sony Ericsson W880i, but even so, the image offered is very good.

Sony Ericsson W890i has a Li-Pol battery with a capacity of 950 mAh, and according to the data provided by the producer, the battery will have a lifespan of about 9 hours of talk time and 330 hours in standby mode.

W890i has a design similar to W880i, but unlike the W880i, the new W890i is built better than its predecessor is. On the left side of the phone, we find the Walkman button and the Fast Port socket, and on the right side, there are three LEDs, the camera button and the volume control buttons. The 3.2 megapixel camera is located on the back side, and if you open the battery cover you will find the memory card slot.

sony-ericsson-w890i2

The keys are slightly larger than the W880i, but even so, the keyboard is quite tiny and piled. If you compare the two models we can say that the keyboard from Sony Ericsson W890i is improved comparing to the one W880i has, and unlike the previous model, it can really be used. The keys are lit white and are well visible at night.

The phone has Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR support, and its speed is around 100 Kb / s and supports all major profiles including A2DP. The application for RSS feeds is the same one we find on Sony Ericsson K660i.

The phone has only 26 MB of internal memory that can be used by the user for media files and applications, but once you get the phone you will get an M2 card with a capacity of 2 GB and if you think you still do not have enough space, W890i can support up to 4 GB.

sony-ericsson-w890i3

One of the new things that Sony Ericsson has introduced in the W890i model is the application "Google Maps". Although the phone does not have a built-in GSP receiver, it can monitor the position through the GSM network. The application offers the possibility to have a log, in which you can save destinations and routes traveled, and you can even check how fast you walk with the help of diagrams. We can find similar applications on other Sony Ericsson models, but those have incorporated GPS receivers.

The W890i comes with five pre-installed themes, and three games: Lumines Block, SIMS 2 and Tennis Multiplay. As for the standard applications, we can say that are the same as for any other Sony Ericsson phone, except Music Mate 4 application that can use drums, guitars, etc. Among other functions, we can also mention the organizer, the Flight Mode, the USB mass storage, the Access NetFront Web browser, the RSS feeds, and the PictBridge printing.

Sony Ericsson W890i has a 3.2 megapixel camera without autofocus. The camera interface is the same as in any CyberShot series phone. We can say that we are a little disappointed because although the camera has 3.2 megapixel there is no autofocus function and no LED flash.

sony-ericsson-w890i4

The pictures can be taken at the following resolutions:
* QXGA (2048x1536)
* UXGA (1600x1200)
* XGA (1280x960)
* VGA (640x480)

The movie clips can be shot in two resolutions: 320x240 and 176x144, and they are saved as an MP4 format. Their quality is very poor. We can say that they are among the worst clips I have ever seen from Sony Ericsson.

With W890i, Sony Ericsson has made an update for the walkman, from version 2.0 to version 3.0. With the new version, you can make transfers directly from Media Player. The phone will take all files from the memory card and the necessary data will be taken from ID3-tags. The phone supports the following formats: MP3, AAC, AAC +, E-AAC +, WAV, WMA and M4A.

sony-ericsson-w890i

There are small changes between the two Walkman applications in design, and functionality, the new application being easier to use. The phone has TrackID application and FM radio with RDS. Along with the phone, you will get your headset HPM-70 which has a pretty good sound quality.

Sony Ericsson W890i comes with many updates such as a new platform, HSDPA and EDGE connectivity, 3D applications, etc.

It is distinguished by the:

-Solid extra slim construction
-GSM Quad-band
-HSDPA, EDGE, HSCSD, Bluetooth (with A2DP)
-Location, Smart Search, Message Manager
-Media center, Walkman 3.0, SensMe tempo, TrackID
-Access NetFront 3.4 with mouse pointer and page search
-3.2 megapixel Cyber-shot SE v2.0 UI camera
-Quick Photo Browser
-2GB M2 card included
-Improved mechanism of the battery cover

It disappoints us by the:

-Internal memory of only 26 MB
-camera with no autofocus and no flash
-fact that it got no skins for the Walkman Player

    Sony Ericsson K850i

    We called Sony Ericsson K810 the Cyber-shot's rebirth. Now we look at a new jump forward in the development of camera phones when we see the extraordinary Sony Ericsson K850i. It brings you new design, navigation and functionality. The 5 megapixel quality camera, which also has hardware buttons, along with new Media Center application, makes the Sony Ericsson K850i a top product.

    <-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

    Sony Ericsson Company first used a 5 megapixel camera objective on the K850i model. Now there are successor models - C902 - that has even more to offer in this chapter. One more reason therefore to examine how good the K850i model is, in order to discover if it manages to live up to the new model. K850i is certainly a cheaper phone (compared to C902).

    sony-ericsson-k850i

    Sony Ericsson K850i has many features: the 5 megapixel Cyber-shot camera with automatic lens (taken from cameras module developed by Sony), D-pad, tri-band 3.6 Mbps HSDPA, a new media center and of course an FM radio, search function, 2.2 inch screen, dual-card support, Bluetooth with A2DP, multi-tasking.

    K850i is equipped with additional hardware. A good example is the motion sensor, used by Apple in their iPhone or the Nokia N series models. When viewing photos, the sensor automatically changes the display into the landscape mode when the phone is rotated. Much more interesting is the slot for memory cards. It accepts not only Memory Stick Micro, but microSD cards too. This is great, knowing that the memory is almost never enough, if you always want to have a rich collection of music and photos.

    sony-ericsson-k850i

    Even if it is very simple to work with the camera, the handling of Sony Ericsson K850i model is only average. The idea behind the operation principles is not bad, and its realization is courageous: to get more space for the keyboard and for the display, the four-way navigation key has been integrated into the numbers keyboard and the software keys have been moved to the lower edge of the display, making them sensor keys. This is not good for everyone. Some users believe that the keys to answer / end phone calls are too small, and if you press the key you may accidentally push the soft key in the center. In addition, the digit keys and the navigation key are too sharp.

    The display is a TFT type, that has 256,000 colors, a QVGA resolution and a 2.2 inch diagonal. As in previous generations it presents a mirror effect for easier viewing in strong light conditions. The dark shades, the contrast and the brightness are stronger than ever.

    sony-ericsson-k850i2

    K850i receives a 930 mAh battery, which according to the producer, should withstand up to 900 hours on standby or 9 hours of talk time. If the phone is used intensively: Bluetooth opened non-stop, browsing, 3G talk time on one day, one hour of music, pictures, etc., the battery will hardly last one day and a half. If, however, it is only used in GSM, and not abuse of its functions, the phone will last up to 3 or 4 days.

    Major changes were made in the Media Player, which is based on Sony Walkman 3.0. In addition, the K850 supports flash themes. Because the phone supports multitasking, there is an Activity button that provides information about the programs that work in parallel at that time.

    In the address book, besides introducing the new keyboard that adds functionality, we have, now, the SmartSearch function, usually present in phones equipped with Windows Mobile operating system. Another useful function is the Send All function that enables transmission of all contacts from the address book to another phone. This can be done using Bluetooth, email or a text message.

    The color of the walkman resembles with the theme of Sony PSP. Here you can choose to display multiple formats: portrait, landscape, or auto-rotate (thanks to the motion sensor that K850i is equipped). The player supports the following formats: MP3, AAC and AAC +, E-AAC +, WAV, WMA, M4A. For bass lovers we have the mega-bass function (missing from K800). The equalizer is the same as in all K series phones.

    sony-ericsson-k850i3

    The Net Front HTML browser allows you to see pages in full-screen mode. You can watch HTML 4.01, xHTML 1.0, CSS, Java, WAP 2.0 content. Security Protocols: SSL / TLS. Net Front also offers an RSS-feed reader. SmartFit function fits the content of the websites perfectly on the screen of the phone.

    The Bluetooth protocol is 2.0, with the human interface (HID) which allows control of Bluetooth devices (as a PC equipped with Bluetooth adapter). Moreover, through Bluetooth, the phone can be used as an Internet modem for your PC or Notebook. It also includes Bluetooth protocol A2DP profile, which allows listening to music on your Bluetooth headset.

    When you say Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot, you think about the camera. So, we will now review the 5 megapixel camera. The performance of the camera is not directly related to the large number of pixels, but rather its handling and of its practical usefulness. With the help of a slider it goes easy and fast from the photo mode into the video mode. The trigger key, which activates autofocus, is simple and safe to handle. Sony Ericsson has integrated the Best-Pic mode, which is why K850i makes in rapid succession nine photos and you can chose the best one. Sony Ericsson K850i is ready for low light conditions, thus a small diode helps autofocus to establish the accurate clarity even in the dark. The Xenon flash is more appropriate than the typical mobile phone LED and in addition it can also function in the role of pre-flash to avoid red colored pupils when taking photo portraits. Some users believe that this model offers the same photo quality as Nokia N82, others believe that this comparison is unacceptable, because N82 is much better.

    Sony Ericsson thought at the processing of the photos. Thus, these can be processed directly on the phone, it can be added tags or it can be uploaded directly to a photo blog. Setting up a blog like this can be done directly from the phone. You can send photos by e-mail directly to a specific address.

    sony-ericsson-k850i4

    Sony Ericsson K850i is not an extraordinary phone, but most users are satisfied with this model. K850i is a compact phone, very well equipped, which has a camera that rises easily to the quality of the latest models. The keyboard handling claims a period of accommodation and in terms of software bugs, it will almost certainly be removed by the firmware update.

    It is distinguished by:

    -5 megapixel camera, autofocus and three dedicated keys
    -Tri-band HSDPA (3.6 Mbps), EDGE
    -new Media Center, Smart Search
    -three new software key
    -dedicated call and end call keys
    -memory card slot for two types of cards, hotswap
    -wide 2.2-inch display
    -FM Radio with RDS
    -Bluetooth with A2DP
    -multitasking

    Disappoints us by:

    -strange D-pad
    -dust accumulates rapidly under the protecting cover of the camera
    -no Wi-Fi
    -lack of infrared
    -attracts fingerprints on the shell

    Sony Ericsson W910i

    I do not know what happened to the designers at Sony Ericsson, but it is as if all their phones look the same lately. Sony Ericsson W910i is no exception in this case, but promises to impress with a rich functionality. It wins by its small size and its excellent Walkman functions.

    <-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

    Because of the design, that I consider conservative, Sony Ericsson has made a fan base which remains loyal to the brand because of the mobile performances. Let us see how good Sony Ericsson W910i is and if it is right for you.

    W910i comes in a medium sized package box. It has all the accessories you need: the charger, the HandsFree, the USB cable, the Memory Stick Micro M2 memory card, the card reader, manuals and the software CD. The card reader is very useful because it allows you to quickly copy files from your PC to USB card and to use them on your phone. It is ideal for music, because it is faster than Bluetooth and easier to use than a USB cable.

    sony-ericsson-w910i

    The phone is made from quality materials and it is solid, even if it is a slide model. Being thin and relatively easy, I could slip it smoothly into any pocket. The screen is large, it has 2.4 inches, and occupies almost the entire surface of the phone. The number keys are available only after opening the slide. Most functions can be used without opening the slide, with the help of the keys that are below the display.

    Near the speaker, there are two buttons that are used only to view images. One of them opens the album and the other selects  larger image. I would have liked to have other uses, depending on the application open.

    sony-ericsson-w910i2

    On the sides, the phone has the volume control buttons, the card slot, the camera button and the Fast Port. The Fast Port is a proper format for PC, handsfree and other accessories connections. I am for standardization, so I would have preferred a miniUSB or microUSB port. If I do not have a cable around, there are high chances to find one at my friend or to buy one at a lower price, but a specific producer cable is harder to find and more expensive. On its backside, a 2 megapixels camera without flash was added.

    The screen has 2.4 inches and a resolution of 240 x 320, and it does its job well. The images are clear, and the text can be read very well. Even in bright light, the screen remains visible.

    sony-ericsson-w910i3

    Sony Ericsson W910i is a walkman phone, so listening to music is a pleasure. The audio player is one of the best players. We used the MegaBass equalizer and we were very happy about it. The coolest function is the Shake Control. You can control the player with hand motions. Therefore, you can skip songs or activate random playback.

    Another unique function is SenseMe. SenseMe automatically adds a tag that reflects the mood and the tempo of the songs when you copy it to your phone. Using the audio player, you can choose to listen to songs that are tagged with the tempo and the mood you want. If you want to add tempo and mood tags, it is necessarily to transfer your songs using the software phone. From this, I concluded that the PC software analyzes and adds these tags, not the player of the phone.

    The video player is also very good. It has all the controls you need. The phone has an auto-rotate function, which does its job well. I was happy with the image gallery too. Sony Ericsson W910i has an FM radio with RDS.

    sony-ericsson-w910i4

    The camera has only 2 megapixels, no flash and no autofocus. This means that the picture quality is average. If you try to take a picture at a close range, it will not come out clear. The pictures are good enough to see them on your phone screen or send them via MMS, but if you copy them on your computer or if you put them on a photographic paper you will not be happy. The camera can record videos at a resolution of 320 x 240 with 15 fps.

    It has everything you need except for a WiFi connection.  It has GPRS, EDGE, 3G and HSDPA. That means you can quickly navigate on the Internet. The Bluetooth supports A2DP, which means you can connect your Bluetooth stereo headphones to listen to music. It does not have an infrared port.

    The browser made by Sony Ericsson is NetFront and it is reasonable. I like the browser on the Symbian Nokia phones better because they render pages faster. You have the option to install Opera Mini, but I never had to do it.

    The email client of the phone is even better than I expected. It supports POP3, IMAP and SMTP and can do a lot of configurations. It has a separate inbox for SMS / MMS. The attachments can be saved in the memory of the phone and if the file type is known by the phone it can also be opened.

    sony-ericsson-w910i5

    Sony Ericsson phones have always had reasonable organizer functions, although they are not smartphones. The calendar can add any events and they can be synchronized with Microsoft Outlook. You can even add to-do. I liked at Sony Ericsson that I could add a to-do as a call type. When the alarm of the reminder rings, you just have to click a button and the call is made.

    Do not dare to think that Sony Ericsson W910i is suitable for mobile office. This privilege remains to BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Mobile phones. Therefore, there is no support for Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Excel. I guess someone could have made a Java application for this thing. W910i comes with three games pre-installed, but you can install yourself many Java games.

    Sony Ericsson W910i is a phone suited for those who listen to music on headphones a lot. You can copy many songs on the memory card and it has a good audio player. Users searching for a smartphone should look elsewhere.

    Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

    Sony Ericsson have not done anything special lately about their phone design. It is just like all their phones look the same. With slide, without slide, the phones have the same style. XPERIA X1 is different though. Very different. Although they keep the sober style, typical for Sony Ericsson, is a smartphone with full QWERTY keyboard; the first Windows Mobile phone from Sony Ericsson. After the unsuccessful experiences with the Symbian UIQ operating system that was declared dead, Sony Ericsson has decided to move to an operating system that promises much more, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.

    <-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

    Among the most important features of XPERIA X1 is the 3 inch screen, the full QWERTY keyboard, and its computing power. It has a Qualcomm processor of 528 MHz, which makes an excellent job with its memory of 512 MB ROM and 526 MB RAM.

    sony-ericsson-xperia-x1

    Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has a length of 110.5 mm, a width of 52.6 mm and a thickness of something like over 17 mm. Could have been better than that, but you must realize that this is a smartphone with QWERTY keyboard. It has 145 grams.

    The metal case makes Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 look more sophisticated than the HTC Touch Pro. Most of the front side is occupied by the 3 inch touch screen, which offers a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

    sony-ericsson-xperia-x12

    How we are already used to, as in most phones, the ambient light sensor and the camera for videocall are located at the top of the phone. The navigation buttons are below the screen. Here we find the call / reject keys, the navigation keys and the D-pad, that is used for navigation in various applications. The phone has a trackpad for handling the mouse cursor on the screen, like the Samsung Omnia. That means you will not need the stylus. The Trackpad offers five steps for selecting the sensitivity, so that anyone can find the one that fits the best.

    XPERIA X1 has a slide mechanism very well thought out, which leans the screen a little when the keyboard is opened. In this position, the screen offers a very good visibility. The QWERTY keyboard is also very well done, with keys well separated.

    On the right side of the phone, we find a button with two directions, by which you can control the volume and the zoom of the camera. On the same side, we find the photo / video button. The two buttons are covered with chrome, matching so well with the metal. At the bottom we find, very discreetly concealed, the hand strap (or different accessories) support. On the left side, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has an infrared port. I do not know if anyone uses this feature anymore, but could be useful if you want to send a picture or a song to an older and cheaper phone. Slightly above the infrared port, we find the miniUSB port. Through this, you can transfer data between the computer and the phone. Although it has a Trackpad, the phone has a stylus that is also present on this side. The top side of the phone is hosting the audio jack of 3.5 mm and the on / off power button. The phone has, also, four LEDs that indicate the status.

    sony-ericsson-xperia-x1-smartphone

    To have access to the SIM card and to the MicroSD card, you have to remove the battery. Slightly above the battery we have a 3.2 megapixel camera. Although it is a small detail, I can not fail to notice the fact that Sony Ericsson has put a MicroSD card. I hope that XPERIA X1 is not only an exception from this point of view, but only the beginning.

    In terms of graphical interface, you have a screen with seven shortcuts, the hot keys equivalent. By a single click, you have access to the Web browser or to the calendar, to the contacts, to about everything you use often. To change the screen orientation (from vertical to horizontal), you have to open the QWERTY keyboard, because XPERIA X1 has an accelerometer. Let's not forget about the XPERIA X1's screen. It is a 3 inch TFT touchscreen that offers an enviable resolution, 480 x 800 pixels and 65,000 colors.

    sony-ericsson-xperia-x13

    Sony Ericsson has imposed because of their multimedia mobiles released before. Walkman or Cybershot, their phones are great when it comes to music or photos. The default video player is Windows Media Player, which supports MP4 and 3GP formats. If you want to watch DivX / XviD, you must install another video player. Unfortunately, I handled the phone really hard when listening to music with Media Player. The buttons and the menus are very small, so sometimes you need the stylus to be precise. It's absurd to change the songs with the stylus.

    At the audio chapter, the phone is excellent; the two stereo speakers managed to play an outstanding sound. Okay, you will not realize that you have bass, but it is doing pretty well. If you want better sound, connect the headphones. In the headphones, the sound is great. It is better than any other phones, I would compare it with my iPod.

    The camera has only 3.2 megapixels, but the quality of the photos is acceptable. It is too bad that they did not put a camera of 5 or even 8 megapixels. Maybe the phone would have been more expensive, but Sony Ericsson, certainly, had a reason not to put something better. The colors are very close to the real ones. A big minus is the lack of a flash.

    Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 offers excellent connectivity options. It has HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP. The device supports quad-band GSM and tri-band HSDPA, and USB 2.0. The memory card provides high transfer speeds.

    sony-ericsson-xperia-x1-open

    For internet browsing, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 comes with Opera Mobile 9.5. You probably know it is a very good browser. The web pages are opened in full screen and you have maximum control over them. At the bottom is a menu that helps you quickly get where you want, such as the previous page, homepage, bookmarks, even to open multiple pages. Unfortunately it does not support Flash. Windows Mobile has his own browser, the Internet Explorer, but Opera Mobile is very good so I do not think you will ever use it.

    Windows Mobile has a wide range of compatible applications. XPERIA X1 comes with many applications preinstalled. One of these is Microsoft Outlook. You can add events to your calendar and view them in several ways. With the To-Do, you can add remiders and you can even make them appear on the background all the time, so you will not to forget what you have to do.

    With Microsoft Office mobile version, you can view and edit Word, Excel, PowerPoint. You even have OneNote, which can quickly note things.

    Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has GPS too. The phone supports the Assisted GPS (A-GPS). A-GPS makes the GPS determine a location faster, using the required information from the Internet. It has no free navigation applications installed, you need to buy something, although, there are free applications such as Google Maps.

    Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 is a very well designed phone that does not know how to disappoint. If you need a good phone for music or movies, this is for you.
