Some time ago we presented the
NTT DoCoMo P903i, a phone that recognized its owner through a small card you had to carry with you, then Fujitsu launched its
FOMA F902iS with fingerprint recognition.
Now, the Japanese from Oki developed an eye recognition technology for camera phones. This technology is set to be available for consumers in March 2007, and could increase security of payment systems used on mobile devices.

Ok, inovation in mobile phone industry is good, but this is really getting strange...the new
D702iF FOMA clamshell from
Mitsubishi. It seems innocent enough, but a few keystrokes allows the user to track his or her (hopefully her) menstrual cycle and be notified during the most fertile times of the month. Wonder if this will be a succes? :D

The latest Japan gizmo is a phone that has the ability to recognize its owner and automatically lock when the owner gets too far away from it. It can also be found via satellite in case you lose it.
The P903i from NTT DoCoMo comes with a small black card that works as a security key by connecting wirelessly with the cell phone. If the owner keeps the card in his pocket, the phone recognizes when the card moves too far away and locks automatically to prevent others from making a call. People who lose their security cards can unlock the phone by entering a password.
The phone also has a facial identification feature. Here's how that works. Owners must first take at least three photos of themselves with the phone's camera. Then, if the facial-recognition feature is turned on, the phone analyzes features such as distance between the eyes and unlocks the phone if the image matches the stored data.
Pricing for the P903i has not been set yet.
