Samsung Highlight, a new TouchWiz handset

We have seen the Samsung Highlight (which you might know as Samsung t749) several time before, but each and every time the only thing we had consisted of some leaked photos and nothing official. Samsung Mobile has finally made up its mind and has given this handset the official treatment.

It seems that the Samsung Highlight is already available via T-Mobile USA, being somehow a continuation of the tradition the American provider has created in the direction of the simple handsets. In spite of the fact that the device is simple, as I just said, it won’t disappoint you, as it has all the features that you’re interested in when looking for a phone.

So, here’s what the Samsung Highlight is ready to offer: EDGE and HSDPA connectivity, a touch sensitive display with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels, assisted GPS, a 3 megapixel camera, the TouchWiz user interface, HTML browser, Bluetooth connectivity, music player and microSD card slot.

The price of the Samsung Highlight is of $149.99, after a $50 mail-in rebate. A condition that you must fulfill is the signing of a contract agreement for a period of two years. The phone is available in two different colors: fire and ice.

T-Mobile UK got the exclusivity for the LG GT500

Exclusivity is what providers are looking for in their daily activity, especially when the product they’re aiming at is a very popular one or it’s expected to sell like hot cakes. If you remember, O2 UK has managed to obtain the exclusivity for a highly anticipated device, the iPhone 3GS, and for another one that was on everybody’s lips in the past couple of weeks.

Following O2’s example, T-Mobile UK decided to try its best in order to become the only carrier to sell the LG GT500. And it seems that it managed to reach its objective. Chances are high for this exclusivity to turn into a very advantageous business, because the GT500 is a very cheap touch sensitive phone that is expected to sell well.

The success of the phone is guaranteed, being a mixture between a very stylish design and a nice list of features. To be more precise, the LG GT500 is equipped with a 3 inch touch sensitive display with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, GPS, Wi-Fi, HSDPA connectivity, push email, and preinstalled links that give you the chance to access some of the most popular networking websites that are available right now, such as Facebook and Twitter.

As for the availability, the handset is expected to start selling right away via T-Mobile UK. You’ll be able to get it for free, as long as you choose plans of at least £25 per month.

Green cell phone via T-Mobile

We should be a little bit eco, if there’s a small feeling inside each and every one of us that it’s our duty to have very good care of the environment. And we shouldn’t spare any chance we have to prove ourselves to be conscious about the world we live in.

In the given context, the annpuncement made by Samsung and T-Mobile should be received with applause, because they have just come up with an eco cell phone which you’ll refer to as Samsung S3030 Eco.

The handset was expected to become available starting July 2nd in the Netherlands, which was a couple of days ago. At first glance, you’ll see that the Eco is actually something like another version of the Samsung S3030 Tobi, a slider that was announced and presented at the end of last year (sometime in November) as a cell phone for children.

Let’s now see what turns the S3030 Eco into a green cell phone. First of all, it is made of bio-plastic, which means it’s free of brominated flame retardants (also known as BFR) and PVC. On the other hand, the charger is also an eco-friendly component. Not to mention the fact that the pacakging is made from materials that you can recycle 100%.

As for the features, this is what you can find on board: a photo camera (most probably it will be a 1.3 megapixel one), MP3 player, FM radio and a microSD card slot for expandable memory (of no more than 8GB).

You can purchase the new Samsung S3030 Eco from T-Mobile Netherlands for a price of no more than €89.95 on pre-pay. Unfortunately, we don’t know if the handset will become available in other markets. Not yet.

T-Mobile Dash 3G makes its way to the shelves

The HTC Snap S511, offered by Sprint, has just been given the official treatment by the American provider, so it’s just about the time for T-Mobile USA to also join the team of those providers that give their customers this device.

It’s just that T-Mobile will sell the HTC Snap under the name of T-Mobile Dash 3G and it’s expected to be the next Dash generation, replacing the first one which was manufactured by the same company, HTC. The Dash comes with several features that you might be impressed with. And the most important of them all is, of course, the 3G connectivity.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

Other features of the Dash include the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1, the full QWERTY keyboard, a trackball that is very easy to use, voice calling, messaging, both personal and business e-mail, GPS functionality, synchronization with Microsoft Outlook and a QVGA display. Not to mention the beautiful sleek black case that comes with red accents.

“As millions of families prepare to hit the road this summer, T-Mobile is offering our first 3G-enabled Windows Mobile smartphone to help customers stay connected, organized and traveling in the right direction”, said Travis Warren, who is the Director of Product Marketing, at T-Mobile USA. “We’re excited to offer the power and style of the T-Mobile Dash 3G with high-speed Internet access thanks to T-Mobile’s rapidly expanding 3G network.”

The new device brought by T-Mobile USA, the Dash 3G, is expected to start selling in July, but the price is still unknown.

More and more future T-Mobile phones

Remember the Samsung t239 I was telling you about a couple of days ago? If you do, then you must know that it’s a cheap cell phone that is going to be sold via T-Mobile USA sometime in the near future, shortly after the release of the Samsung t349, one cheaper than the other.

Now, there’s another Samsung device to be expected to become available in the next couple of months through T-Mobile USA shops is called the Samsung Spark t749, which is, compared to the models I mentioned earlier, a mid-end cell phone.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

This device has just obtained the FCC approval, being a 850/1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE and a 1700 WCDMA device, equipped with the Bluetooth connectivity, which means the t749 will be part of the 3G range of cell phones offered by T-Mobile. Unfortunately, we don’t have much information at our disposal, if there will be a touch sensitive display involved or not, because the only thing we’ve got right now is the sketch you saw above provided by FCC.

However, the least we expect to see on the board of the Samsung t749 includes the integrated assisted GPS with TeleNav and a 3 megapixel camera.

Due to the fact that we don’t have more details for the moment, it’s understandable that we don’t know when the phone is going to hit the market. But what we know for sure is that the t740 is on the list of future T-Mobile phones.
