Nokia clamshell mobile phones for the American people

Nokia announced a couple of days ago that one of its handsets, the 7510, a clamshell that is part of the Supernova range, will be available for purchasing on the American market, sold exclusively by T-Mobile USA. The cell phone is expected to bring a high “level of customization and functionality” for its users.

If you remember well, there were many rumors about the 7510 Nokia device hitting the American market (they started sometime in December), but now it’s official.

Even if the clamshell will not have the “Supernova” tag when sold in the United States, that doesn’t mean that it dropped its family heritage. This means that, following the example of the Supernova edition sold in Europe, the clamshell runs on the same Nokia platform, the S40.

The features of the Nokia 7510 include: a 2.2 inch QVGA TFT internal display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and 16 million colors, a 2 megapixel camera equipped with LED flash, 4x digital zoom and Nokia Image Perfection System (also known as NIPS), a quad band GSM / GPRS / EDGE connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz), UMA connectivity, FM radio with RDS (or Radio Data System), digital music player compatible with file formats such as MP3, AAC and AAC+, support for POP3 and IMAP4 email accounts, an internal memory that can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 8GB.

Other impressive features are the external display (which you cannot see as it’s hidden) and the Xpress-On covers, available in a wide variety of colors such as Fatal Red, Emerald Green and Espresso Brown. Measuring 3.64 x 1.83 x 0.66 inches and weighing 4.37 ounces, the Nokia 7510 will become available at the end of this month, in select T-mobile retail stores and online at T-Mobile’s official website.

“The Nokia 7510 will be a great addition to our lineup because it features changeable faceplates, which means our customers can easily personalize their phone day-to-day”, said Travis Warren, Director of Device Marketing at T-Mobile USA. In addition, he said that “the unique hidden-until –lit display further illustrates the cool features of the device that our customers are sure to love”.

Samsung managed again to make its way in the United States, as T-Mobile, a very well known mobile operator, officially released the so long rumored Samsung Behold and Samsung Gravity, just in time for the holiday season. The second new phone coming from T-Mobile, the Samsung Gravity, also called T459, is not as advanced as the Behold, but its advantages are the full QWERTY keyboard and the lower price. The device comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera which has video recording facility that will allow users to capture special moments. Gravity also supports the T-Mobile’s MyFaves service that will help the user to keep in touch with their beloved.

Samsung Gravity will be available starting November 17 for only $49.99 on contract.

Meebo for Android has just been launched

Having an application compatible with the iPhone or the Android handsets has become every company’s most powerful dream. You have to run on Android to exist, you just have to! To prove my point, I’ll tell you that another Web-based Instant Messaging service, Meebo, is now available for Google’s Android platform, thanks to a Meebo for Android application.

Therefore, “Meebo, the Web’s live communications platform, today announced the launch of Meebo for Android, an instant messaging application that brings free and open communication to T-Mobile G1, the world’s first Android-powered mobile phone. Meebo for Android provides a simple “on the go” instant messaging experience for anyone with a Meebo account, or an account on one of the popular IM services”, like Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, AIM and so on. The application is expected to become available to be downloaded through the phone via the Android Market.

Meebo for Android includes: access to all of your IM accounts through a single login and single buddy list, a fun and simple IM experience that’s similar to using meebo.com on your PC and real-time notifications, meaning that alerts of new IMs are pushed to the status bar even when Meebo runs in the background.

“We are excited to provide Meebo users and Android enthusiasts with a new way to connect live with their friends”, said Seth Sternberg, founder and CEO, Meebo. “Enabling access to Meebo on the go means that more and more people will think ‘Meebo’ for open communications whether they are at their home, work, school or none of the above!”.

ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for T-Mobile G1 Android

Like the one we already have for Apple iPhone, ZAGG, the well-known provider of protective film coverings for personal electronics, is now shipping the invisibleSHIELD for the new T-Mobile G1 Android, the first phone to run on Google’s Android operating system.

Transparent and thin, the invisibleSHIELD perfectly matches the shape of every device, providing unparalleled scratch protection. Made from a patented adhesive film exclusive to ZAGG for the purpose of protecting high-performance electronic devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, gaming devices and laptops, ZAGG’s invisibleSHIELD for the G1 is now available through multiple retail outlets or on the official website of the company.

“The complex shape and design of the G1 necessitate a specific kind of protection”, said Robert G. Pedersen II, President and CEO of ZAGG. In addition, “the invisibleSHIELD is custom-designed to protect the full body of the G1 without interfering with functionality or touchscreen sensitivity. The G1 is a significant advancement in smartphone technology and it deserves the most advanced protection. Unlike bulky cases that offer inadequate protection, the invisibleSHIELD is the most durable way to scratch-proof any device, while preserving the original, sleek design”.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The ultra-tough material used to create the invisibleSHIELD was originally utilized by the US military to protect helicopter blades from all sorts of external factors such as wind, sand and the wear and tear of high-speed travel. Therefore, combining this military-grade scratch protection with precision-cut designs, the invisibleSHIELD, backed by a lifetime guarantee, allows customers to use their electronics without the fear of scratches or nicks. This way, if it ever does wear or scratch, the company will replace it for free, for the life of your device. On the other hand, if you want to remove the invisibleSHIELD, you should experience no problem, as it comes off clean and leaves no sticky residue. Being just 2 millimeters thick, this is the slimmest G1 skin or G1 cover of its kind.

ZAGG’s invisibleSHIELD is now available through multiple retail stores and on the official website of the company. You can purchase it for $19.96 for full body coverage and $11.96 for screen coverage only.
