Here are the first 3 cool looking cell phones from the German Red Dot Awards 2008. I will leave aside the other models that are already popular, as i prefer to show you only the new devices, which are not well known by most of us.

At this year’s Red Dot Designs Awards edition, Qisda’s design concept received a honorable mention for its QCM-131 PDA phone model, optimized for easiest surfing, with a large 2.6-inch touch-sensitive display, an intuitive user interface, and 3.5G high data transfer speeds.
Qisda Corporation from Taipei, Taiwan, is one of the top 5 of manufacturers in LCD monitors, projectors, and multi functional printers, using advanced technologies like surface-mount technology , metal stamping, plastic injection, and LCD module assembling.

Another design that has received a honorable mention is SoftBank 814T, a cool cell phone model with metallic finish, lightweight at 97 grams and made of stable titanium. Cosmic Shiner

Cosmic Shiner

Yet another expensive handset model designed for luxury lovers by Kansai Yamamoto, a famous Japanese designer who liked to call its creation the Cosmic Shiner.
Based on Toshiba’s FanFun 815T phone, the Kansai Yamamoto version will be available in a limited edition consisting of just 1,000 units for sale starting April.

Those that will want to purchase it will first have to obtain an invitation and get the unique ID code from April’s Seven Hills magazine.
More than that, the model will cost them $4,000 but it will bring with a Prestige Gold membership, a lacquer box made by hand, and special free services for one year.

It costs much because it sports several tiny diamonds for a special decoration and an elegant look.
Too bad it will be available only in Japan!

Toshiba Portege G450 3in1 Handset

Toshiba Portege G450 3in1 Handset

Toshiba Portege G450 is not only a cell phone, it a 3-in-1 device integrating a cell phone, an MP3 player ad USB HSDPA modem in one unit.
It doesn’t use a standard keyboard and doesn’t bring the ergonomics of a QWERTY either, but it uses an unconventional keypad for user input and shows an OLED display with 96 x 36 pixels resolution.

It is designed as a cool accessory for people that want to feel different than the others but I would say Toshiba made it to be just more practical.
With the tri band (GSM 900/1800/1900/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA 3.6 Mbps), G450 you can talk or listen to music for up to three hours and you also have the possibility to choose between three color options: black, white and red.

It uses the Qualcomm MSM6280 chipset, has 160MB of memory, the USB mini interface, and measures 98×36x16 mm.
The handset is available at about $290 in European countries.

Toshiba G910 and G920 were Approved by FCC

Two new Smartphones from Toshiba have passed the Federal Communications Commission tests and are ready to be announced officially.
Every large company is working hard to come out with Smartphones integrating the latest technologies and Toshiba makes no exception, being recognized as one of the most important electronic devices manufacturers.

What we managed to get are a few photos with the latest models, Portege G910 and Portege G920, and the most important specifications that make the two stand out.
The smartphones have and are extremely similar design so I decided to publish the most relevant one.

Both work on GSM 900/1800/1900 networks and come with support for WCDMA, Bluetooth connectivity, WLAN, and integrate a microSD memory card slot, and the USB.
They also have rear cameras with flash and front cameras for video calling, allowing you to see the other person on a large 3-inch display.

About the battery, we know that it will be a Li-Ion type of 1320 mAh, while the operating system is Windows Mobile 6.

Toshiba 908A Phone for the Asian Market

Toshiba 908A Phone for the Asian Market

Toshiba enchanted the Japanese people with its latest mobile phone, which is also the first Assisted GPS (A-GPS) model introduced on the Taiwan market.
This elegant clamshell-type phone comes in three decent and optimistic colors, measuring 42x97x20mm and weighting 113grams.
It is designed to work well on GSM900/1800/1900 and WCDMA networks and also supports GPRS Class 10.

Its primary display is a TFT QVGA type of 2.4 inches and renders 262K colors, while the external display is a momoOLED.
It is equipped with a good camera of 3.2MP with digital zoom and Mobile light for sharp and good looking pictures, and video recording capability, but it also comes with a sub camera for Video Telephony, a QVGA.

The pale-colored clamshell supports the following audio formats: MP3, AAC, AAC+, XMF and SMAF.
But one of the most important features of this phone, at least for me, would be its WAP 2.0, SVG-T1.1 and XHTML browsing support.

Toshiba 908A Phone for the Asian Market

To make a parenthesis, I have to mention what SVG is, for those of you that have not encountered this abbreviation often.
It is about the Scalable Vector Standard, which is an XML specification and file format to describe 2-dimensional vector graphics, static and animated, and it can be only declarative or it could include some scripting.
The images may contain hyperlinks.

Let’s get back to the phone’s specs, and continue with the memory.
Toshiba 908A comes with 40MB memory in it but supports up to 1GB microSD card.
To transfer your pictures, songs and other things to your PC or into another phone you can use the USB port or the IrDA function.
