Verizon Wireless Blitz

Finally we have a new special cell phone to show you! It is the Verizon Wireless Blitz optimized for texting on the go.

When it’s slide in it has a funny look, like a half Blackberry, and when you slide it out, it reveals a nice QWERTY keyboard with an overall aspect of a true smartphone.



Verizon describes it as a cell phone designed and equipped for school students in the United States, who prepare to start a new year. It is available online with a 2-year contract and a discount for online purchasing, at a price of $69.99.

This cute bold phone sports a 2.2-inch display of 262K colors, ideal for web browsing, and integrates a 1.3MP camera with self-timer for up to 10-seconds shots, color effects like antique and negative, up to 180 x 9620 landscape resolution, portrait mode, dedicated camera key and self-portrait mirror.

You can use it to listen to the music wirelessly in stereo mode via the Bluetooth technology, download games, set cool wallpapers, assign specific ringtones to each o your contact, check weather forecasts or sports, send MSN or Yahoo emails, chat with your colleagues with the Instant Messaging application, send pictures via MMS, and get audible and visual directions to the most popular points of interest in your area.



If you and your parents agree, you can set the Blitz to enable location sharing via Chaperone Child service, so your parents will always be able to check online and find out where you are at a specific time of the day.



Verizon Wireless Blitz also supports voice commands for when you want things to be done quickly and have the hands busy.
In addition to the Calculator, Calendar, Alarm Clock or World Clock, Blitz features 1,000 phone book entries, and up to 280 minutes of talk time, with a standby of 280 hours.

Samsung with InnoPath

Samsung U340 and Samsung U430 are two new handsets available via Verizon Wireless featuring the FOTA technology, which enables firmware updates from the cell phone, with no re-flashing. In addition, the new models come with the InnoPath Mobile Device Management Client pre-installed, which couples with the special server to avoid device recalls and to permit over-the-air upgrades.



"The growing installed base of FOTA-enabled phones is evidence that this is a capability critical to both operators and to their handset vendor partners," said Terry Hartsfield, vice president of Operations for InnoPath. "The ease in which our OEM partners can port the client to new phones is testament to our end-to-end operational capabilities."

Samsung SCH-U340 is a flip phone with CDMA dual-band coverage, speakerphone, several messaging capabilities including picture sharing and sound sharing, and a simple built-in digital camera with up to 640 x 480 resolution for still pictures, autofocus and LED flash.
The mid-level cell phone has push-to-talk, Instant Messaging, MP3 player, Java, voice recognition, and basic applications including to-do lists, scheduler and world time.

Samsung SCH-U430 is also a flip-style cell phone, but with more advanced features than the previously described model. It has Bluetooth wireless connectivity, camera with self-timer, email functionality in addition to Instant Messaging, and in the rest it has the same elements as the Samsung U340.



The U340 is available for free with a 2-year contract and Verizon Wireless enables access to sports, news, traffic, weather forecast and horoscope via text alerts. The more advanced handset comes also with the VZ Navigator featuring audible turn-by-turn directions to let you find the best route to your destination. More than that, you can use this service to browser through millions of points-of-interest and get the best option for spending your free time alone or together with some friends in popular bars, restaurants and other social places.

Pink Blackberry

Both RIM’s Blackberry Curve 8330 and Blackberry Pearl 8130 smartphones have now pink brothers available for pre-orders at Verizon Wireless, with the shipping date set for August 15. Well, actually the Blackberry Pearl 8130 in hot pink is already available in stores, and the other model is preparing to come out too. The main target sector is students who want to stick to the fashion trends.



Those of you who plan to get one of the 2 Blackberry cell phones can forget about pink case because the entire handsets come in a light pink housing. Blackberry Curve 8330, the smallest and lightest full-QWERTY
BlackBerry smartphone, costs $99.99 if purchased online with a 2-year contract, while the Blackberry Pearl 8130 model has a price of $79.99, both after a $70 mail-in rebate.
The Curve 8330 model has push to talk, web page emailing, multi-tasking, the VZ Navigator with audible turn-by-turn directions, BroadbandAccess Connect, 96MB flash memory, 32MB RAM, and the Blackberry 4.3 Desktop Software with email, phone, SMS, browser, calendar, address book and organizers. In addition, there is support for 10 personal email accounts, remote address book look-up, and mobile Instant Messaging.

Besides these communication capabilities, the handset also has a 2.5-inch LCD display with LED backlit and 65K colors, full QWERTY keyboard, a built-in 2MP camera with flash and video recording, media player, stereo Bluetooth, up to 8GB memory expansion slot, and provides up to 260 minutes of talk time. It measures 4.2 x 2.4 x 0.6 inches at a weight of 4.02 oz.



The other model, Blackberry Pearl 8130, has the same features but it supports up to 4GB memory via a microSD card, and a SureType QWERTY keyboard with 2 keys per button to reduce the form factor, providing 220 minutes of talk time. It doesn’t feature BroadbandAccess Connect. This capability enables laptop connectivity to the Internet via the cell phone using a cable.

Motorola Adventure V750

Motorola released the Adventure V750 via Verizon Wireless, as a rugged mobile solution with push-to-talk capability for active users who need a durable handset designed to resist in extreme conditions. The two-way push-to-talk communication allows the user to stay in touch with a group of people and see who is available for calling. Using Verizon Wireless’ Evolution-Data Optimized Revision A network, it is able to transfer files at high speeds, in addition to meeting the military specifications for shock, vibration, dust, solar radiation, high-temperature storage, high and low temperature operation and altitude.



The Motorola rugged phone is a flip model sporting a 2.2-inch main display and a 1.6-inch external screen, covered in a no-slip layer.
With push-to-talk, users of such enabled mobile handsets can connect instantly to a group of people at a button press, without needing to make separate calls to each of them. It works similar with walkie-talkie and is a half-duplex technology, meaning that while you speak, the other persons have to listen until you press the button again, to stop the sending communication.

Other features provided by Verizon Wireless via the new Motorola rugged phone include the VZ Navigator for getting audible maps with turn-by-turn directions and 14 million points of interest, and the Field Force Manager tool that allows the user to locate, monitor and communicate with the other work colleagues. More than that, the handset comes with V CAST Music with Rhapsody for downloading music choosing from over 5 million songs over-the-air, dedicated music keys, Stereo Bluetooth, Mobile Instant Messaging, Mobile Web that can be customized to access news, sports and weather information, Media Center for games, ringtones and wallpapers, and V CAST Video with access to video clips.



Motorola Adventure V750 has a built-in 2MP camera for pictures and video recording, as well as support for expanded memory of up to 8GB via a microSD card.

It is already available at Verizon Wireless at $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new 2-year customer agreement.

MOTO W755

Motorola announced a new cell phone called MOTO W755 optimized for entertainment while on the go, and makes it available at Verizon Wireless.

It is offered exclusively at the telecommunication company’s online and offline stores featuring a slim clamshell design with metal finish, measuring just 0.68 inches thickness. The cell phone comes in Black Slate and Purple colors, providing access to V CAST Music service via touch-sensitive controls for getting over 3 million songs over-the-air, and several other features including music player, V CAST Video for download/stream videos, VZ Navigator with audible maps and turn-by-turn directions, playlist management, Windows Media Player 11, video messaging, Mobile IM, stereo Bluetooth and the 2.5 mm headset jack.

The built-in 1.3MP camera has 4x digital zooming capability and allows you to record videos, after which you can watch them on the 1.9-inch display. You can store media of up to 4GB via a microSD memory card and the maximum number of contacts supported by the phone book is of 1,000.
Next there is speech recognition technology support, Speakerphone integrated, a 220 minutes talk time, and up to 390 hours of standby.
