Trying to bring “the Internet in emerging markets”, Nokia has just announced three new cheap cell phones that are expected to revolutionize the world in those markets that we are now talking about, giving people access to more and more information, to entertainment and to an easier way to keep in touch with family and friends.

The Nokia 2730 Classic is a candybar that comes equipped with 3G which offers fast access to the Internet experience, browsing experience, a 2 inch QVGA screen, a 3.5mm headset jack, and expandable memory. This handset will become available starting the third quarter of this year.

The second device is the Nokia 2720 fold which comes with a mirror-effect design and features like email, calendar, applications that enable the file sharing, Internet connectivity, an internal display with a resolution of 120 x 160 pixels and a 1.3 megapixel camera. This one will start shipping along with the Nokia 2730 with a price of no more than 55 Euros, before taxes and subsidies.

“The power of the Internet is undeniable”, said Alex Lambeek, the Vice President at Nokia. He further added that “We’ve seen mobile technologies catalyze the growth of the informal sector across the world, empowering local entrepreneurs and having an immediate and lasting impact on people’s lives. Services like Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail, combined with the mobile phones we’re launching today, bring powerful solutions that can be the gateway to knowledge, entertainment and people, without the need for a PC”.
