Cingular announced the release of the low-cost Palm Treo 680. The Treo 680 is aimed at business users and consumers looking to get into a smartphone without having to endure the usual high-cost associated with the purchase.

Beginning Friday the 24th, Cingular will offer the new affordable Treo for as low as US$199 with a data plan, and for a limited time the Treo 680 will come with a music bundle from Yahoo!, which includes a 30-day free trial of Yahoo! Music Unlimited To Go.

The Treo 680 is a quad-band GSM handset that utilises EDGE for data connectivity. The Treo also includes a 320x320 pixel resolution touch screen, 64MB of available memory, and Bluetooth, as well as supporting business features such as push email and extensive PIM functionality.
