Download the latest Opera Mobile version

Yesterday was the big day for the guys over Opera Syftware because they launched the latest Opera Mobile version, the 9.7, to be more precise, aimed at Windows Mobile. This is, of course, a better version of the so very popular, so very famous browser that people can use on their smartphones.

The Opera Mobile 9.7 beta is based on the turbo-charged technology which became reality due to several factors, such as: server-accelerated rendering and compression technology. Opera Turbo uses a compression technology that is advanced enough in order to bring more speed to data transfers and to diminish, as much as possible, the data that has to be downloaded. The reduction is of approximately 80 percent.

The latest Opera Mobile includes the rendering engine of the Opera Presto 2.2, which can be used for the desktop version of the browser. This engine is designed to help display the webpages on your cell phone a whole lot faster.

In addition, the Opera Mobile 9.7 beta comes with add-on Opera Widgets manager and Opera Widgets SDK. The first one enables an easy access of the user to the services they most like, such as Bubbles, GeoQuiz, Google Translate, MyStatus or Twitter.

“There are other mobile browsers on the market that claim to be faster and more Web site-compatible on Windows-based phones, but I challenge users to take Opera Mobile for a test drive and discover a new standard for speed and compatibility”, said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO at Opera Software. “Opera Mobile 9.7 leaves other ‘sluggish’ and ‘painfully slow’ browsers in the dust. It is our belief in One Web that challenges us to develop technology such as Opera Turbo. Not everyone owns a 3G phone and not everyone needs to. This is why Opera’s focus is on improving our browser so that your EDGE network feels like you’re surfing 3G style or better”, Tetzchner further added.

The Opera Mobile 9.7 beta can be downloaded right now from the official website of Opera.
