First images with Hikaru, the new Sony Ericsson slider

The precursory days of this year’s edition of the Mobile World Congress are something like a marathon when it comes to cell phones announcements, releases, rumors or leaked pictures. It’s very good for everyone to know that the devices we’ve all been promised a couple of months ago will see the light of the day eventually, becoming some sort of stars at the famous event which is to take place in Barcelona in less than a week.

I told you about the Samsung S8300 Ultra Touch, which appeared sometime in December 2008, and now it’s the turn of Hikaru, a Sony Ericsson slider that were rumors about since last October. Considered the Walkman flagship of Sony Ericsson, Hikaru is far from being a spectacular device.

The image you see in the picture above is said to be the Sony Ericsson Hikaru on the SEMC Blog, and we’re more than entitled to take their word for granted.

As far as the features are concerned, they include: a 2.6 inch display, a 8 megapixel camera, a walkman player 4.0, a 3.5 millimeters headset jack, stereo speakers, some dedicated music keys that are placed in the right side of the phone and an internal memory of 8 GB.

There are not more details available for the moment, but we’ll get back with further information as soon as Sony Ericsson will officially launch the phone at the MWC 2009. However, the new Sony Ericsson slider is expected to become available sometime during the second quarter of this year.
