Personalizing your phone is a must and as you pick out your mobile gadget as to suit your style it is important to make it your way till the end. And because Nokia phones nowadays and phones in general have surpassed their original purpose of just speaking, now you can do tons of other things.

From texting multimedia messages (MMS) to viewing PDF documents. Some have high-performing camera of 5 megapixels (like N97) or even 12 megapixels (N8 just launched on the market), with some you can engage yourself in a video call, send e-mails,  transfer photos, music through Bluetooth, download ringtones, wallpapers, themes and so on.



As you can see there are great features phones offer these days and on some websites you can download application to improve your phone and make it look and sound cool. For some applications, games, ringtones, themes and so on you have to pay a certain price to get them downloaded, but some websites offer them for free.



One of my personal favorite places from where I get stuff for my phone is Zedge.net. You can download a limited amount of items per day and if you want it to become unlimited you just have to create an account. It takes a few seconds and the website offers specific stuff for your specific model, in this case you are assured they are compatible.  They don’t cost anything and you can get really cool stuff. In case you can’t find the ringtone you like but you have a favorite song you can cut it on their site and then download it and transfer it to your phone. It is all for free.

What is more there are other places from where to get what you want. There is for example nokiasoftware.nl, where they have free stuff only for Nokia phones, gallery.mobile9.com. It is advised to first scan anything you download from the internet and want to transfer to your phone; you don’t want to get it infected and then turn it over in service to change and format the software. In some cases you might end up having nothing on it and it a risk not worth taking.

It is pretty cool to have free stuff but sometimes they cost, maybe not money but stress and worries. Better safe than sorry in this case. If you have Bluetooth and don’t have a USB cable to connect to the computer you can get your friends to transfer data to you through Bluetooth. In this way it is free and already tested by them. Other ways to get free ringtones is to trim songs you want yourself. You can download a trim program and choose the exact part of the song you want cut.



All these things are possible nowadays and this is just the start. With some phone you don’t need a laptop when you travel, you just get some cool games, even a movie as some phones have up to 8GB memory card in. it all fits in your pocket and the features they bring could really turn out to be a savior (for example OVI maps or GPRS system incorporated showing directions and maps to know exactly where you are).
