HOP1890, AT&T cell phones for old folks
Posted by: Maria Mihale in AT&T, Hop-On Wireless
Hop-on develops and markets wireless phones and accessories for emerging markets and other domestic carriers and is best known for developing the world’s first disposable and recyclable cell phone: HOP 1800. The company announced that its HOP1890, the ChitterChatter for seniors, is available in the United States on AT&T’s network and in Europe.
The ChitterChatter phone provides a call center available 27/7 where operators can make calls, provide directory assistance and help with setup. With GPS/Enhanced Location-Based-Services the locator phone provides a unique and affordable way for seniors, or those with special medical needs, to stay connected and in contact with each other.

The HOP1890 has a Dual-band 850/1900MHz in the US or 900/1800MHz for Europe and offers 300 minutes of talk time and 300 hours of standby time. As far as the GPS feature is concerned, parents or caretakers simply use the Internet or any phone with SMS capabilities to quickly identify the location of the device in approximately 1 minute. So, by just touching one button, seniors and kids stay in touch with close family and friends or send their location. The phone features a large, bright screen with large text that is easy to read and bigger buttons that are easy to push, so dialing and making calls is easier than ever on the HOP1890.
“This is an affordable way for seniors to feel safe and confident. We need to take care of our elders and the ChitterChatter phone gives them the freedom to keep in touch without the burden of an expensive phoneâ€, said Hop-on CEO, Peter Michaels. In addition, the phone is provided with a panic button located on the back of the phone. During the initial setup of the phone, the consumer will setup their choice of emergency contact, so that, in case of an emergency, once the panic button is pushed, that specific person is called immediately and an operator will remain on the line, hands free, until help arrives.
There is no word on pricing and launch date yet, but HOP1890 will increase the range of AT&T cell phones sold exclusively on this network.

More and more manufacturers of cell phones are really recognizing the demand for a particular handset for seniors. No wonder why the market is filled now with many selections of cell phones that the old folks can conveniently use. Of course, this is good news. However, the fact that there are now myriad of offered selections in the market, it is inevitable for the elderly to get confused in identifying the best handset that they can pick.
For those who can relate to this, I would like to provide some suggestions. First of all, the prospective buyer should consider the quality of the device. Of course, since the phone will be used by an aged person, it is just right to ensure the reliability of the device. Next thing to consider are the offered features of the phone. The features should be relevant to them. These should meet their needs. It is best if the phone is offered at a reasonable cost as well.
I would like to emphasize that it is definitely possible to find a quality cell phone with relevant features that is being offered at a very reasonable cost. Just5 phone is one of the perfect examples. This is the particular phone that I am using. I have been using this phone for more than a year now and I will attest that this one truly competitive. I have actually no regrets in choosing this phone.
