The latest cell phone facts published according to statistics, show that children show an increased interest in portable digital music players and cell phones.
The number of children owning such a device has doubled since 3 years ago. The Kids and Consumer Electronics IV report was made public by the NPD Group, a leading market research company in the sector of costumer electronics for kids. NPD Group is interested in the importance of such electronic devices in children’s lifes, and takes into account the following factors: how their usage has changed over time, the ages at which kids begin using specific CE products, how they use them, and the frequency of use.
From children between 4 and 14 ages, 75% said they use computers, 70% use television, and 40$ own a laptop or desktop computer, which they use as one of the main entertainment sources.
"In the three years we've been monitoring kids' interaction with consumer electronics, computers have always played a central role in kids 'digi-lives,' serving as a hub for many of their connected activities," said Anita Frazier, industry analyst, The NPD Group. "This most recent study revealed an increase in the use of social networking sites, which points to the growing attraction kids have for this type of online experience."

Other statistics show that 88% of those using portable digital music players prefer them among all music devices, and they tend to be interested even more on watching movies on them.
3 in 10 children watch videos on these portable devices and the personal ownership moved from 4% to 28% in the last three years.
Cell phones are used by 20% of children ages 4 to 14, who also own these devices, and 13% of ages 4 to 5 just use them for communication. Among uses they are interested in when it comes to cell phones, are talking, text messaging, sending pictures and playing games.
These cell phone facts came out after an online survey conducted by NPD among ages 23 and over with kids in household, ages between 4 and 14. The conditions for participating included the children had to use at least one electronic device from the list. In total there were 3,179 completed surveys and it was conducted between April 7 and April 4.
