Is this Moto concept another cell phone for children?
Posted by: Maria Mihale in Motorola

A couple of days ago I was writing about Samsung S3030, also known under the name of Tobi, a cell phone for children, equipped with a friendly graphical user interface, proper for all of the kids out there who are trying to be as fashionable and gadgetized as grown-ups are. I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat it as many times as I’ll have to, such devices are useless, if you ask me. We should keep our kids far from everything that makes the world a living chaos.

Anyway, if you want to spoil your offspring for the good grades he managed to achieve in school, then this is your chance. There will be nothing to please him more than to change his cell phone, as all of his colleagues do the same. You know that not only kids become Christmas spirited in this time of year, but also their parents. Therefore, your little ones might easily take advantage of your weakness these days.

The Moto Concept is created and developed by Taiwan-based industrial designer Joseph Liang, who is specialized in Industrial Design, as I already said, and Product Design. Undertaking challenges and being eager to learn from people around him, this guy had the chance to work at a certain moment in time for Benq-Siemens Corporation, which is a great achievement, you have to admit.
If you take a short look at the device, you’ll probably see a resemblance with Hello Kitty or Teddy bears, having the lower part very similar to the trademark Xbox 360 green. In addition, there’s a bright green backlight placed on the navigational mechanism that looks somehow appealing.

Yes, maybe the screen is a little bit smaller than you would have expected, but let’s face it, there are many similar devices on the market which didn’t seem to bother anyone, as far as I know. The very interesting part about this Moto concept is the fact that the device can get smaller, once you insert the lower half in the upper part. On the other hand, this might be the whole point of the device: in order to be cute, the cell phone must be also small.
As you can easily figure it out for yourself, there isn’t any numeric keypad featured on this phone, even if there are 9 dots placed right around the navigational keypad.
For the moment, this is only a concept phone just like many others, but imagine the fuss it will raise if Motorola dares to hit it for the mass production. The fuss and the surprise!
