Latest Nokia phone to hit the American market is a basic one

Even if they like it or not, the Americans pass through a very difficult period these days, and they will have to be quite patient up until the recession is over. And what other better way to fight the economic crisis could you think of than focusing the attention on cheap products and, of course, taking very good care of your budget?

Well, it seems that Nokia has considered this issue and decided to release a brand new basic cell phone in the United States. Called the Nokia 1661, the phone is said to become available via T-Mobile USA. The candybar was seen for the first time back in the last year, in November, if I remember right.

I agree, the 1661 doesn’t look spectacular, and I’m sure you wouldn’t expect it to be otherwise, as I said from the beginning that we’re dealing with an ultra-basic handset. However, it is provided with a speakerphone and with an integrated flashlight.

As for the features, they include: dual band GSM connectivity, a 1.8 inch TFT display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels, FM radio and two pre-loaded games, Sudoku and Mobile Soccer. The latest Nokia phone to hit the American market is able to provide the user approximately 8 hours of talk time and no more than 624 hours of stand-by time.

Unfortunately, the information about the release date of the 1661 in the United States is still unknown. As for the price, what we know for sure is that the device retails for only 30 Euros in Europe (which means approximately $40), so T-Mobile USA should come up with a similar offer.
