LG joins LSTI

LG Electronics has decided to join the LTE/SAE Trial Initiative (LSTI) for the purpose of aiding the 3G technology, making it possible to be used at a large scale. It is believed that the sooner this happens, the sooner phones can switch to 4G.

The current members of LSTI include important names such as Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Ericsson, Nortel, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia, Siemens and NTT DoCoMo. The last one has recently made experiments in order to hurry the passage to 4D technology.

LG worked with Nortel in order to to present the 3GPP LTE technology at the World Congress in Barcelona, in February, this year. The 3GPP LTE technology makes data available for download at a speed over 100Mbps directly onto the mobile phones. The technology is being perfected at the moment; the date for its final stage is set for September, this year.
