LG KC780, the thinnest 8 Megapixel cameraphone

LG Electronics, a well-known company in the area of mobile communications, announced two days ago the release of its new device - the LG-KC780. The slim 8 megapixel camera phone enjoys its official confirmation, being designed to perfectly work when it comes to shooting portraits. It seems that LG has a brand new approach concerning their plans of taking over the market of high megapixel cameraphones.

Despite the fact that the slim slider phone is just 13.9 thick, it is provided with a large 2.4 inch widescreen LCD. In addition, the phone’s design allows the camera’s features to be not only convenient, but also easy to use. There is a Schneider-Kreuznach certified camera lens that helps the user take some nice photos with the LG-KC780’s camera, which are high-quality ones, being not only sharp, but also very clear.

A very important feature is that several smart technologies this phone is provided with focus around the most expressive part of a person, that is the face. An interesting function is the so-called Face Detection, which automatically finds and focuses on people’s faces, so that photographers are allowed to take the clearest pictures they have ever taken. Part of this feature is based on LG’s Smile Detection technology. The reason for implementing such a specification is explained by Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company: “We found that most of the time people use the cameras on their mobile phones to take pictures of themselves, their families, friends and significant others. With this in mind, LG developed the LG-KC780 with a number of face-enhancing features to augment its quality 8 megapixel camera”.

But this is not the only people-focused features on this new LG handset, there is also the easy-to-use shot modes that is a great help when it comes to making people look their best. Whenever the Smile Shot is enabled, the camera automatically takes a picture if it notices that there’s a smile on the subject’s face. On the other hand, spots and imperfections on people’s faces are removed using the Beauty Mode. This way faces appear bright and clear in photos and you’ll surely look your best, even if reality says something else.

Unexpected things happen all the time, no matter the place where you are. And you most probably want to remember many of them as the years go by. Therefore, there are some features to help you take great shots wherever you may be. The LG-KC780 is quite good at seeing in the dark with “adjustable light sensitivity up to an amazingly high ISO 1600”. When an image is too bright, the SmartLight setting automatically fixes the problem.

But there are many times when you’d rather record things around you and in order to do that you can use the D1 Video recording which captures DVD-resolution video of every moment that you feel like keeping in such a format. This means that when you decide to play back those movies on a large TV, you they will still look great.

Another feature, a very important technology, is the Smart Bluetooth, which enables several new options whenever the phone is connected to your PC: for example, you can use the phone’s camera as a webcam in online conversations. Compared to the USB webcams, the advantage is that you can easily move with the camera with the Bluetooth range of the phone.

The Bluetooth also takes care of transferring the 8 megapixel photos and makes it even simpler. More than that, Smart Bluetooth simplifies sending and reading text messages and allows them to be typed and viewed on the computer.

The LG-KC780 is expected to start selling in November 2008, in Europe, later expanding to Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS, the regional organization whose participating countries are former Soviet Republics), and Asia, including India, Thailand, Hong Kong and China.
