Motorola VE66 comes with Crystal Talk Technology

I hope you haven’t imagined Motorola will stop at the ZN5’s 5 megapixel camera, just as they did with the original design of the RAZR and its many rip-offs, because you are apparently wrong. The latest unofficial Motorola handset to come out of the woodwork is the Motorola VE66, which is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, 3G connectivity, built-in Wi-Fi and runs on Montavista v.2.6.10 Linux. We can’t say much about its operating system, but featuring this amount of high-end features, the device can be easily considered a significant step forward for a company like Motorola in its current state.

Motorola VE66 brings new call and multimedia technologies, which are meant to outmatch any other device on the market as far as these particular features go. In addition, Motorola is now offering customers faster access to the type of information they require, for it has integrated its first widget on this particular phone.

“The MOTO VE66 delivers on customer’s demand for more personalized listening and imaging experiences on a mobile phone”, said Tracey Koziol, Corporate Vice President, Mobile Devices, Motorola. “With a diverse multimedia experience, the VE66 truly enables you to make a statement and express yourself on your terms”.

The device is also equipped with a Freescale SCM-A11 500 MHz processor, 2.4 inch 16M TFT display, stereo Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP and USB 2.0 for high-speed connections, aGPS navigation, an integrated MP3 player, FM radio with RDS, Windows Media Player and a microSD card slot. It’s not clear whether the camera module will use the same Kodak lens as the ZN5, though. The handset supports quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks.

The sliding phone also features a couple of technologies including CrystalTalk audio, FastScroll for one-touch navigation and of course mobile-Linux enabling a mobile development. The newly developed CrystalTalk technology means that, now, communicating in loud places will be much easier, thus the calling experience is enhanced at all times, and not only when there’s “peace and quiet” around you. The way this technology works is very simple, as it amplifies the volume of your conversation. Therefore, you will have no problem with understanding whatever you are listening to as the technology is helping you block out the background noise. In addition, there is a second microphone includes to make sure your conversation will go on undisturbed.

Using the Fast Scroll navigation wheel, sailing anywhere in the menus becomes very smooth, while downloading your favorite music or sharing photos is very easy thanks to the Wi-Fi connectivity and the MP3 player with USB 2.0.

As far as the release date is concerned, rumors set it for sometime towards the end of the year and there is no pricing information available at this point yet. However, the same rumors say that it will be sold in two versions, one of which will be for China and will not be equipped with 3G support.
