NEC mobile phone, more transparent than ever
Posted by: Maria Mihale in Nec
I don’t know why people are more and more captivated by the idea of transparency when it comes to the gadgets they use on a regular basis. When I wrote an article about a transparent music player, created by an eccentric designer, Mac Funamizu, I thought that it was just the result of a mind that is used to see things differently and that chances are one in a million for someone else to imagine another device, conceived in the same manner.

They want to see through things, maybe because they’re somehow afraid of the unknown or maybe because they want to surpass the boundaries generated by superior entities. No matter the reason, transparency is the word of the day and it applies to this NEC concept phone, called the “Flaskâ€, which is a very ingenious device, as the external casing is entirely transparent. This way, you can see the liquid fuel cell power that is stored inside the phone.
Answering to acute demands of this new era, all related to the very well-known and long debated environmental issue, the technology based on the liquid fuel cell power is an alternative when it comes to saving the Planet. On the other hand, the liquid drains as you use the NEC mobile phone, so it gives you the information you need concerning how much power is there left. The bad thing is that the company didn’t give us important details with regard to the recharging of the device.
As far as the interface is concerned, it seems that the phone is provided with a display that is sensitive to touch or based on the e-paper technology.
The overall aspect of the NEC mobile phone is undoubtedly a lit bit feminine, as you can easily see from the picture, due to the soft color combinations, but I have a hunch that not only women will show interest in such a device. The only problem with it might be the price. Because, you know, ground-breaking technologies are pretty expensive.
