New BlackJack cell phones via AT&T
Posted by: Maria Mihale in AT&T, Samsung
A handset that is compatible with the Windows Mobile has always been the lucky charm of many providers from all over the world, because you just cannot go wrong with such cell phones. It’s a reason good enough for AT&T, one of the largest American carriers, to go for another such device, this time being designed by the guys over Samsung.

It seems that starting May 19th the Samsung Jack, which is said to be the successor of the BlackJack cell phones, versions I and II, is going to be seen in the AT&T shelves on an exclusive basis. Not only the phone comes with the Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard operating system, but it will also run on the fastest 3G network available at the present in the United States.
The Samsung Jack, also known as i637, is going to be equipped with a full QWERTY keyboard, advanced messaging capabilities that include SMS, instant messaging, easy access to multiple e-mail accounts, Microsoft Direct Push, AT&T’s Xpress Mail and Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile.

“The Samsung Jack will be another hit crossover smartphone in the tradition of the BlackJack and BlackJack II”, said Mike Woodward, the Vice President, Mobile Phone Portofolio, at AT&T Mobility Corporation. In addition, he said that: “The BlackJack series has been the number one selling franchise in Windows Mobile history”.
The Jack comes with features like 3G connectivity, 256 MB RAM, a 3.2 megapixel camera which has video recording capabilities, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), assisted GPS that one can use with AT&T Navigator or the AT&T Navigator Global Edition, the integrated AT&T Mobile Music, access to XM Radio Mobile, CV (or Cellular Video), stereo Bluetooth technology, the Windows Media Player 10 Mobile and a microSD card support for expandable memory of no more than 16 GB.
The BlackJack cell phones will welcome the Jack starting, as I said, May 19th (meaning today), when the phone will be sold for $99.99 after mail-in rebate. In addition, you’ll have to sign a two-year contract agreement.
