New Samsung Omnia phones

If we take into consideration the large number of Samsung cell phones that have just been announced, we’d have every reason to think that the South Korean company is trying to compete with Nokia, another company that decided to announce an impressive number of devices in the past couple of days. And, so that you know, it is a very harsh competition between these companies, due to the advantages involved.

There are five Samsung phones in the “new wave”, if I may say so, the Jet and four Samsung Omnia phones: Omnia II i8000, Omnia Lite B7300, Omnia Pro B7610 and Omnia Pro B7320. But we’ll cover only two of them right now, the Lite and the i8000, to be more precise.

The first in line is the Samsung Omnia II i8000, a device that is quite similar to the Jet, if you already had the chance to see it. The main difference is that this one is a smartphone, compared to the other one, which is also presented by the company as a device “smarter than a smartphone”.

The features of the Omnia II include a 3.7 inches AMOLED touch sensitive display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, the TouchWiz 2.0 3D user interface, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, Wi-Fi, video recording and playback presented as DVD-like, 3D games which are more interactive than ever, an entire memory of 48GB (this means external memory is included). There are some rumors concerning an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and GPS, but these rumors are not official.

The second device is the Samsung Omnia Lite B7300, which comes with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, assisted GPS, the Opera browser, a 3 megapixel camera and “multi-codec supported high-quality video”.

Samsung didn’t announce when the two cell phones will become available in the market, and, unfortunately, nor the price.
