New special security services for Nokia

There is a brand new collaboration in the agitated world of communication and mobile phones, one that is supposed to revolutionize (they all have the same purpose, as a matter of fact) the image people have about the personal security. Mobile phones are used on a very large scale these days, facilitating the communication between friends and family, irrespective of the form that it takes: text messages or phone calls.

But what people need is to safe, to be secure as far as their privacy is concerned, giving this aspect the greatest importance of them all. This is why Nokia is trying to constantly improve the security services available on their mobile devices. In addition, the Finnish company is taking care of the affordability of those services.

As a consequence, the collaboration between Securitas, a Sweden-based company, and Nokia shouldn’t take anyone by surprise. The devices targeted by this new project are the GPS enabled mobile phones, which are based on the S60 platform. The service is called Securitas Safe-2-Go and it’s perfect to receive a helping hand in case of emergency and to give the user an increased security when it comes to the information related to the location of the dearest ones. The service consists of four secondary services: Assist, Find, Zone and Friends.

“Mobile phones already today give increased feeling of safety because your friends and family are only and SMS or a phone call away. By making Securitas services Assist and Zone mobile we combine the possibilities of built-in GPS and our knowledge about mobility with Securitas leading knowledge when it comes to security and safety”, said Christophe Joyau, the responsible for services, Nokia Scandinavia.

Because GPS-enabled devices are a common presence on the market nowadays, these special security services are just what the doctor ordered, and there's no doubt about it. The release of the service is expected to take place in the first half of this year in Sweden, but it will most certainly become available in other European countries, also.
