Nokia 6650

Back in 2003, a spectacular mobile phone which was released with a huge success was the Nokia 6650. Being an entry-level cell phone, the Nokia 6650 became quickly one of the best sold cell phones at its time. Even if it doesn’t come with impressive features even for an entry-level cell phone, this Nokia model impresses with its low price and a great battery life.
The Nokia 6650 shows a classic design for an old handset. It comes with a candy-bar case made of resistant plastic, covered in a gray pleasant color. The dimensions of the phone are quite large even for an entry-level cell phone. Measuring 132 x 52 x 25 mm in dimensions and 141 grams in weight, the Nokia 6650 looks very solid and has a compact aspect. These dimensions are influenced by the external antenna which is another classic feature for an older handset. But having an external antenna is not only a negative aspect. The Nokia 6650 makes a great impression when it comes to the signal level.

The front side of the phone presents an ear-speaker, a TFT display and a classic numerical pad. Between the display and that numerical pad several navigation buttons are placed including two soft keys, a 5-way button and the usual Call and End buttons. The numerical pad is excellent for writing messages. The keys are properly-sized and being very responsive, you will easily write texts without making any mistakes by pressing the wrong keys. These keys also offer a positive feedback so you will feel very comfortable using this cell phone. On the sides of the phone you will notice two volume buttons, a voice command button, a fast-port for charging and attaching headphones plus an Infrared port.

When it comes to technology, the Nokia 6650 doesn’t make a great impression. Being an entry-level cell phone, it comes with poor performances. The display of this cell phone is a TFT one with a native resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. Supporting 4096 colors, it certainly will not offer great image quality. The images are pixilated with a low level of details. This display also will make you problems if you use the phone in a sunny day, being poor visible. A nice feature of this cell phone is the camera. The Nokia 6650 is equipped with a VGA camera capable of taking pictures at a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. Even if it is not a powerful camera, it allows you to take some pictures at a decent quality for such a cheap mobile phone. The internal memory of the phone is quite small. It has only 7 MB of free space and unfortunately this cell phone lacks a card slot. For connectivity, the 6650 offers only the strictly necessary features. It is a Dual-Band (GSM 900 / 1800) device which comes with support for GSM, GPRS and 3G. There you will also find features like Bluetooth, Infrared and USB. With all these, you will always be capable to keep in touch with your friends, everywhere you are. As we said at the beginning of the review, the Nokia 6650 has a great battery life. The Li-Ion 950 mAh battery manages to keep the phone on for up to 6 hours of conversations and up to 14 days in standby mode.
